Friday, October 9th
Family Fun on the Farm Day on Sauvie Island in NW PDX. Public school is out for the day and families are invited to explore the Sauvie Island Organics farm and Howell Territorial Park to learn about food, farming and the land. Friday, 10 am-noon. Free!

Apple Tasting at the Portland Nursery in SE PDX. Taste up to 60 different varieties of apples, check out the fresh-pressed cider demos and tasting, enjoy pumpkin painting, scavenger hunts and games. Friday-Sunday, 10 am-5 pm. Free!

Lego Palooza in North Plains. All ages are invited to drop in to hang out and build with the library's Legos or Duplos. A great way for Lego enthusiasts to enjoy some creative, social time. Friday, 11 am-2 pm. Free!
 
Movie Night at Friendly House in the Pearl in NW PDX. Get a jump on the Halloween spirit with a showing of Hotel Transylvania. All ages are welcome. Friday, 6-8:30 pm. Donations appreciated. 
 
Saturday, October 10th
Tryon Creek Ravine Restoration Project in SW PDX. Join the Friends of Tryon Creek for an ivy pull followed by a catered lunch, great giveaways and a raffle. Saturday, 9 am-1 pm. Free!
 
You Light Up My Life Dance Party in SE PDX. All ages are welcome to enjoy dancing, interactive installations, infant sensory play, various performances and classes, crafts, food carts and a family photo booth. Saturday, 10 am-2:30 pm. $10. Ages 1 year and younger are free!
 
Second Saturday at the Water Center: Gardens in Vancouver. Bring the whole family to play and explore in the garden while getting crafty and creative with fruits, vegetables and seeds. Saturday, 1-3 pm. Free! 
 
Sunday, October 11th
Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show in Hillsboro. Check out fossils, minerals, rocks, jewelry and beads. Not to mention there will be over 100 exhibits, interactive demos, kids games, door prizes and much more. Sunday, 10 am-5 pm. $5. Kids 12 years and younger are free!
 
Rosebuds and Rose Petals Roller Derby in SE PDX. This weekend offers an empowering day of junior derby action at the epic showdowns between Daughters of Doom vs. Voodoo Dolls and Rainbow Bites vs. Little Red Riveters. Sunday, 1 pm. 
 
Cathy & Marcy and Red Yarn at First Unitarian Church in SW PDX. Don't miss this two-time Grammy award winning duo of children's musicians along with our own local kindie rocker Red Yarn. Sure to be an energetic and engaging show for all ages. Sunday, 4-5:30 pm. $8.
