WEEKEND WARRIORS AUGUST 7-9

Friday, August 7th
Fabulous Frogs at Tillamook Forest Center. All ages are welcome to learn all about frogs and some of their amphibious relatives, explore froggy hiding places and enjoy Tillamook State Forest. Friday, 11:30 am-noon. Free!
 
Storytime at Pie Spot with Olive and Dingo in NE PDX. Full of comedy, songs, stories, balloons and laughter this event is sure to get the whole family jumping, dancing and wiggling. Friday, 3-4 pm. $5 suggested donation. 
 
Kids' Night Out in NW PDX. Parents can enjoy a night out while kids play with friends. The evening starts with art instruction and projects followed by dinner, then more play and art time. Pre-registration required. Friday, 4:30-8 pm. $25/child or $15/sibling (use Promo Code: PDXKids for discounted pricing).
 
Saturday, August 8th
Alberta Street Fair in NE PDX. Come enjoy an eclectic mix of activities and events including entertainment, music, vendors, food and drink for people of all ages. Start your fun at the Kids Corner with a visit to our #ImaPDXkid photobooth hosted by Jessica June Photography along with fun games and play in the street and, of course, the chance to get one of our 2015 Summer of Fun reusable shopping bags. Additional Kids Corner activities include blueberry samples from Whole Foods, ceramic critter painting with Mimosa Studios, and seed packages with Gnome's Home. You can also play with the Circuit Bouldering Gym on a slackline, join the circus for a day with Echo Theater Company, create a unique creature with KC Puppetree, shake maracas with Portland Early Learning Project and make recycled materials into instruments with Art Jam! As always, all activities at Kids Corner are FREE!  


Kids Club: The Very Hairy Caterpillar in Sherwood. Back by popular demand, this event teaches young gardeners about planting and germination. Each child can plant their own hairy caterpillar, then take it home, water it and watch it grow. Saturday, 11-11:45 am. $5. 
 
August Second Saturday at the Water Center: Rivers in Vancouver. Kids will love getting their hands dirty while learning all about local rivers and streams with creative activities, fun games and engaging stories. Saturday, 1-3 pm. Free!
 
Operarama in the Park at Washington Park Summer Festival. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and enjoy some of the greatest operatic arias, duets and ensembles. This event stars a soprano soloist, as well as the Portland SummerFest chorus and orchestra. Saturday, 6 pm. Free!
 
Sunday, August 9th
Traditional Technology Day in Vancouver. Activities for the whole family include carving, weaving, Native art design, making friction fires and watching the creation of stone tools. There will also be a guided hike down the Oaks to Wetlands trail. Sunday, noon-4 pm. $3. 
 
Fools in Paradise in SW PDX. This eclectic six-person band will be performing kid-friendly, joyful and upbeat music with a variety of African instruments. Sunday, 1-2 pm. Free!
 
Movie in the Park: A Bug's Life in SW PDX.  Bring the whole family for entertainment by local musicians, The Pearls, followed by a showing of A Bug's Life. Don't forget warm layers and snacks. Sunday, 6:30 pm. Free!
