Friday, August 28th
Preschool Story and Stroll at Tryon Creek State Park in SW PDX. Delve into nature exploration, art, literature, movement and outdoor play. Geared toward ages 2-6, but all are welcome. Pre-registration required. Friday, 10-11:15 am. Free!
 
Big Night Out at Tualatin Commons in Tualatin. Rhythm and blues, contemporary jazz, big band, bluegrass, salsa, reggae - they've got it all at this outdoor summer music series. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs, pack a picnic and enjoy an evening of terrific music. Friday, 6:30 pm. Free!
 
Saturday, August 29th
Stewardship Saturday in Vancouver. Participate in restoration activities such as gardening, painting, cleaning, invasive species removal and more. Start the day by learning about local ecology and end with a fun craft or hike. Saturday, 9 am-1 pm. Free!
 
Blues Festival in NE PDX. Don't miss the many local and national blues artists as they take the stage at Concordia University. Bring the whole family to enjoy the live music, local food offerings and this all-around good time. Saturday, noon-8 pm. Free!
 
Movie in the Park: Back to the Future in SW PDX. All ages are welcome to join in the fun starting with a performance by local musicians followed by an outdoor showing of Back to the Future. Saturday, music starts at 6:30 pm and the movie begins at dusk. Free!
 
Sunday, August 30th
Back to School Bash in Vancouver. Come on down to the Market at the Vancouver Mall for a day of face painting, art and activities for kids. Everyone will enjoy the festivities along with food, music and fresh local produce. Sunday, 9 am-3 pm. Free!
 
Water Wonders at Tillamook Forest Center in Tillamook. Bring your sandals and shorts and jump into the waters at Tillamook State Forest. Learn all about aquatic insects, their habitats and how they affect the ecosystem as a whole. Sunday, 12:30-1 pm. Free!
 
Caliente Sundays at Oaks Amusement Park in SE PDX. Who doesn't love the family-friendly fun of an amusement park? Enjoy the perks of a deluxe ride bracelet (along with a small soda) for just $12.50 when you present the coupon found on the La GranD 1520 and La Zeta 94.3 website. Sunday, 4-5 pm.
