Weekend Warrior July 2-5

Friday July 3rd
Micah and Me Singalong, Dance-along at A Children's Place Bookstore in NE PDX. Enjoy a "free-form dance party for toddlers" at this musical performance. Friday 9:30am. $5 suggested donation.

Waterfront Blues Festival at Tom McCall Park in SW PDX. Jazz, blues, zydeco, swing and more at this annual music festival benefiting the Oregon Food Bank. 

Patriotic Pinwheels Craft at Green Bean Books in NE PDX. Drop in fun for all ages, just in time to celebrate the Fourth of July. Fridaynoon-5pm. Free!

July 3rd Fireworks in Silverton. Kick off the holiday early with food, drinks, music and a special fireworks display. Friday 6-11:30pm. Fireworks are free, with suggested donation of $5/family. Garden admission for the day $5-11. 

Saturday, July 4th 
Batty About Bats at Tillamook Forest Center. Learn about the  natural history of some of Oregon's bat species and debunk the negative myths that surround these fascinating creatures. Saturday11:30am-noon. Free.

Oregon Pacific Railroad Speeder and Train Rides from Oaks Park. July 4th railroad event at Oaks Station directly across from Oaks Amusement Park.  Train Rides will be available on the passenger train and on railroad speeders, traveling between Oaks Park and the Oregon Rail Heritage Center near OMSI. Saturday noon-10:45pm. $5/passenger.

Kid's Storytime at Powell's City of Books in NW PDX. They will be reading of Madame President by Lane Smith. Saturday 3-3:30pm. Free!

4th of July Celebration in Hood River
Celebrate with an old-fashioned parade, a BBQ festival at Jackson Park, live music, and games. The day ends with fireworks over the Columbia River. Saturday all day. Free.

Sunday, July 5th 
Preschool Story and Stroll at Tryon Creek State Park in SW PDX. A fun program for ages 2-6 that integrates nature exploration, art, literature, movement, and outdoor play.  Space is on a first come, first served basis; register in the Nature Center 30 minutes before the program starts. Sunday 10-11:15am. Free.
