WEEKEND WARRIORS: JUNE 19-21

Friday, June 19th  
Mo Phillips Music Time at TreeHouse in North PDX. One of Portland's favorite kindie artists will rock out to songs that will get the whole family a'movin and a'shakin. $5. Friday 10-11am.

Family Film Night at Poa Cafe in North PDX. Enjoy dinner and sit back and watch, James and the Giant Peach. Free. Friday 5-7pm.  

Closing weekend of just play at Echo Theater in SE PDX. Featuring aerial dance, partner acrobatics and physical theater, this performance is a celebration of freedom, friendship, and who we are when we feel most at home with other people. Read our review here. Friday & Saturday 7:30pm

Saturday, June 20th
Wapato Nature Walks on Sauvie Island. Join a park naturalist for an informal 2-mile walk around Virginia Lake. Bring binoculars and a water bottle. Pre-registration required. Free. Saturday 8-11am.

DIY Patio Tomato Planter in SE PDX.  It's not too late to get your patio tomatoes going. Drop in and make your own planter. All material including tomato plant, pot, soil, and cage are provided. $20. Saturday 10am-6pm.

Preschool Sensory Storytime at Fairview Columbia Library in Fairview. This preschool storytime is especially welcoming for children on the spectrum and families who are looking for a smaller, more interactive library experience. Free. Saturday 10:15-11am.

Sometimes You Need a Jellyfish Portland Author/Illustrator Chris Routly in SE PDX. Support a local PDX author and illustrator at the official release of his new kid's book. The launch party is also part of the grand opening of a new children's store called, Seahorses. It's a party so there will be food, music and crafts. Free. Saturday 1pm.
 
Sunday, July 21st
Junior Ranger: Roving at Tryon Creek State Park in SW PDX. Kids ages 6-12 will receive a mission from the Ranger and then they will set off through the park to complete their mission while learning about protecting animals, natural resources and plants. Parents must accompany kids on the mission. Participation will help Junior Rangers earn a badge, patch and certificate. Free. Sunday 11am-3pm.

Sunday Parkways-North PDX.  Grab your bike, scooter, skates, or anything on wheels and join a 9.5-mile, family friendly loop. Free. Sunday 11am-4pm.

Red Yarn's Deep Woods Revival Release Shows at the Old Church in SW PDX. Red Yarn will be celebrating the release of his second album with two performaces, a full band, choir, and puppets. Through folk songs and puppetry, Red will tell the stories of the Deep Woods. Fun for the whole family. Tickets $8/$10 at door. Sunday 3:30 & 5:30pm.
