Weekend Warriors: May 8-10

Friday, May 8th

Mother's Day Celebration at the Craft Factory in SW PDX. Celebrate Mom by making a Mother's Day-themed craft. $12 per project. Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. 

PP&R Ladybug Walk in SE PDX. Explore Woodstock Park with a trained naturalist. Best for ages 2 to 5. $4 per child. Friday 10am. 

Make a Canvas Art Project at VineGogh in Tigard. Make a super-cute picture of a camper in this step-by-step class. $15 per child. Friday 4-5pm.

Saturday, May 9th

Family Day at the Washington County Museum. This month's theme is Pioneer Heritage. Try all things "trail," including pioneer dress-up, packing a wagon, dipping candles and more. Musician Rick Meyers will perform an old-time music show at 11am. Free. Saturday 10am-1pm. 

The Ninth Annual St. Johns Bizarre in North PDX. The perfect kick-off to Portland's vibrant street fair season, with an eclectic line-up of local musical talent, craft vendors and artists and food. Kid-friendly activities include a Western-themed physical comedy performance by Leapin' Louie and a Bollywood dance class. Free. Saturday 10am-7pm. 

For Mom Craft Day at Concordia University. Moms and kids are welcome to join for a special storytime followed by a make-your-own photo frame craft. Free. Saturday 10:30am-1:30pm.

May Second Saturday at the Water Center in Vancouver. Celebrate Public Works Week with hands-on activities. Free. Saturday 1-3pm. 

Me and My Family Volunteer Event in Tualatin. Kids ages 3-12 are invited to this volunteer event. Join for 30 minutes of age-appropriate tasks, 30 minutes of storytime and snack and 30 minutes of craft time. Please preregister. Free. Saturday 6-7:30pm. 

Sunday, May 10th

Lan Su Garden's Mother's Day Celebration. Make a Mother's Day card with Chinese and English characters and stamps, see cultural performances and calligraphy art demonstrations. $7-$9.50. Sunday 10am-4pm. 

Sunday Parkways: East Portland. Streets close to traffic, allowing families to get out and be active. The kick-off event in East Portland features beautiful natural areas including the newly-finished Foster Floodplain Natural Area.
