Weekend Warriors: January 30-February 1

Friday, January 30th

Free Dance Week at Moxie Studios in West Linn. Check out one of many dance classes offered for kids ages 2-9 today and tomorrow. Free. See website for schedule. 

Heart of Hearts at the St. John's Library. Get creative by making your own origami Valentines with artist Eileen Holzman. Please pre-register. Free. Friday 1-2:30pm. 

Long Winter Knights at the Sellwood Library. Learn about knights and the Middle Ages with the Knights of Veritas. Free. Friday 2-3pm. 

World Friendship Celebration in Vancouver. See performances by Kingsley Garden Music, Tepeyac Pre-Hispanic Dance, and en Taiko in celebration of performing arts from different cultures. $2-5. Friday 6:30-8pm. 

Saturday, January 31st

Mounted Plant Day in SE PDX. Drop in to mount an epiphytic plant - otherwise known as a plant that doesn't need soil to live. $15 and up. Saturday 10am-6pm. 

Penny's Puppets at the Abbey. Join Benunia the Bat on a musical tour of the creatures that come alive at night. $5/person. Doors open at 10am. Show starts at 10:30am. 

YoKids Yoga in NW PDX. Each class will have a story-based yoga practice, an activity or art project, and sharing time. For ages 4-7. Please check for availability as classes fill. $20 drop-in. Saturday 11:45am-1:15pm. 

Silly Ms. Jeanie Performs at Mississippi Pizza. Sing along with Miss Jeanie, a local musician, youth librarian, and early literacy advocate who loves to entertain. Suggested $3 donation. Saturday 4-5pm. 

Sunday, February 1st

Preschool Story and Stroll at Tryon Creek. This program integrates nature exploration, art, literature, movement, and outdoor play. Best for ages 2-6. Space is first come, first served beginning 30 minutes ahead. Free. Sunday 10-11:15am. 

Treasure Island National Theatre Live Screening in SW PDX.Treasure Island is brought to life in a thrilling new stage adaptation, broadcast live from the National Theatre in London. Best for ages 10 and up. $15-20, kids 12 and under free. Sunday at 2pm and 7pm.
