Ladybug Nature Walks at Powell Butte Nature Park. Explore nature in Portland parks with trained naturalists. Rain or shine. For ages 2-5 with grown-up. Stroller friendly. Friday 10am. $4 per preschooler, no charge for adults.

School's Out Celebration at Village Green Park. Kick off the summer with the Library and the North Clackamas Rec Mobile in Village Green Park, with crafts and games. Friday 2-4pm. Free!

Story Time with Olive and Dingo at Pie Spot. Not your average story time. Full of comedy, songs, stories, balloons and laughter. Sure to get the jumpers jumping, the dancers dancing, wigglers wiggling and the noise makers cooing. Friday 3-4pm. $5/child for balloons and entertainment. 

Kids Dig at Ft. Vancouver. Kids Dig introduces kids ages 8 through 12 to the fascinating world of archaeology. In this program, kids excavate a site with the help of park staff and volunteers, and discover what we can learn about the past from the artifacts buried under our feet. Saturday 10:30am and 2pm. Free with admission.

World Beat Festival at Salem Riverfront Park. Fun for kids include a Children's Parade at 10am Saturday, a passport where kids collect stamps from each of the World Villages: Africa, The Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific, and tents in each Village with kid-friendly cultural games and activities. Children can make Peruvian friendship bracelets, play Wurfkastanien (a German game involving throwing chestnuts), create an Edelweiss hat, jump tinikling sticks from the Philippines and other activities. Saturday and Sunday. The Festival is free, but they ask for a $5 donation, $15 for families.

Outdoor Family Camperoo at the Zoo. Bring your tent and sleeping bag to camp out under the stars. Enjoy guided tours of animal exhibits, go behind the scenes in selected areas and learn about some of their newer animals as you tour the zoo in twilight. Cost includes dinner, snacks, a campfire with s'mores and a continental breakfast. All ages welcome. Saturday 4pm. $35-$54 person, ages 0-2 free.

Superhero Day at Green Bean Books. Shares their favorite superhero stories, help you make your very own superhero cape and mask to take home, and even embark on a kryptonite scavenger hunt in the garden of Green Bean. The cost is $10 which includes a fabulous cape and mask to keep. Reservations please 503-954-2354.

Junior Ranger at Tryon Creek. Check in with a park ranger between 11 am and 4 pm and get your instructions, then go exploring in the forest on your own! Your mission will help you learn about natural resources, plants and animals. Ages 6-12. Parents must accompany kids. Sunday 11am-4pm. Free!
