Tallulah's Daddy at Cafe Au Play. Come sing and dance while Tallulah's Daddy sings and plays his guitar, bass and cajon. Friday 10-11am. Suggested donation.
The Standard's Volunteer Expo at Pioneer Square. Connecting more than 125 regional nonprofit organizations with thousands of Portlanders eager to make a difference in their community. Friday 11am-2pm. Free!
Race for the Arts in Hillsboro. Lace up your sneakers for this brand new, family friendly event - a 10K run, 5K run/walk, 1K kids dash, live music, and an Art Zone hosted by the Portland Children's Museum.All proceeds will benefit Young Audiences work to inspire young people and expand their learning through the arts. Red Yarn Musical Puppet Show in St. Johns. In this musical puppet show audiences venture into the Deep Woods, a magical forest inhabited by the animals of American folklore. Saturday 10-11am. $3-5.
Ruckus in the Lobby: "Bilbo's Journey" at Artists Rep Theatre. All performances are interactive and geared for the K-6th grade age group and their families. The shows include a Q&A with the cast following the performance. Saturday 10:30am. $5
Aquifer Adventure at Water Bureau Launch in NE PDX. Big and little pirates alike are welcome to join for a family festival all about groundwater. Play fun games and go on a scavenger hunt in search of hidden treasure - not gold, but groundwater, a precious resource that flows beneath your feet. Come dressed in yer finest pirate togs, or else the Cap'n might make ye walk the plank. Free kids T-shirts to the first 300 kids! Food will be available for purchase. All activities (including 15-minute canoe rides) are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Saturday noon-4pm. Free!
Belmont Street Fair. Music and fun. Kid's activities at 34th St. Saturday noon-7pm. Free!
Rosebuds - Youth Roller Derby at the Hangar at Oaks Park. Come see the start of the official Rosebuds 2013 Home Season as the Undead Avengers take on the Rainbow Bites, and a re-match of Death Scar Derby Droids vs. Little Red Riveters. Saturday 6pm. $14-$20.
Family Festival at the Portland Japanese Garden. Children will have an opportunity to dress in a kimono, learn the art of origami and participate in a traditional tea ceremony. Sunday 10am-4pm. Free with admission ($6.75-$9.50).
Oodles 4 Kids' Birthday Bash. A whole day full of fun activities, prizes, and, of course, birthday cake!
Family Open Studio at 100th Monkey. A special family-only time in the open studio space. Work on one piece as a family or let each person follow the voice of their inner creative! Sunday 1-3pm. $20 and up.
