A classic county fair filled with amazing BBQ, a rodeo, rides, and entertainment for the whole family. Runs through August 18th.
Ladybug Nature Walk: Irving Park. Naturalist led stroll. Ages 2-5, with grown-up. Stroller-accessible. Friday 10-11am. $4/child.
Once on This Island at Broadway Rose Theater. The Broadway Rose summer teen workshop participants present an enchanting, calypso-flavored musical fable that tells the story of forbidden love between people from two different worlds. Thursday - Saturday performances. $8.
Professor Banjo at Ford Food and Drink. Paul Silveria, best known as a square dance caller and children's musician, plays a rare set for both adults and kids. Enjoy the dinner/cocktail hour with some engaging old-time banjo music. Friday 5-7pm. Donations encouraged.
Multnomah Days at Multnomah Village. SW Portland's biggest community celebration including a parade, all-day street fair, local food & music, arts & crafts and more. This year the Multnomah Days Kids Zone will feature family fun with awesome activities for all ages. Seek adventure with the exciting challenge of the Rock Climbing Wall. Get a groove on over at Performance Corner featuring KC Puppetry, Olive and Dingo, Penny's Puppet Productions, Portland Early Learning Project, and Red Yarn. Let your creative juices flow with MAC's printmaking exploration and Little Artists Preschool's community 3-D sculpture project. Craft with SW Community Center. Dance around a Maypole. Score a goal with Soccer Shots. Come capture your image at the PDX Kids Calendar photo booth with Emilia Brasier Photography. Investigate a F6-A bomb disposal robot, Mounted Patrol Unit, paddy wagon and police patrol car. Juggle with Do Jump. Get your play on in 'The Zone.' Click here for more info. Saturday 9am-4pm. Free!
Kohl's Cares Community Outreach Car Seat Project. Parents and caregivers are urged to have their children's car seats checked. Certified child passenger safety technicians are available to inspect car seats and provide hands-on advice free of charge. Kohl's Gateway - 10010 NE Halsey St, Portland OR 97220. Saturday August 17 from 10am-noon. Free!
Family Play Day at Harper's Playground. Come play at this amazing all accessible playground to celebrate community, inclusion, and play! Fun activities for families include face painting, bubbles and balloons, sports opportunities for anyone, local resource vendors and live music from Mr. Ben and Nate Botsford. Saturday 10am-2pm. Free!
Seaport Celebration at N. Lombard Waterfront. Go inside the fences of an active marine terminal to explore the working waterfront. Activities include live music and entertainment, interactive displays and demonstrations, face painting, a photo booth with costumes, free giveaways and prizes, $5 jet boat rides, Container Art, and much more. Saturday 10am-4pm. Free!
Get to Know the Tram - Party for the Portland Aeriel Tram. Face painting, certamic tile painting, balloon artist, more. Photography seminar at 12:30 for teens and adutls. Kids ride tram free with paid adult. Saturday noon-3pm.
Oregon Pacific Railroad Train Rides. Passenger train rides between Oaks Amusement Park and East Portland (near OMSI) and back. Train departs Oaks Park on the hour and departs the Oregon Rail Heritage Center on the half hour. Saturday noon-6pm. $5 round trip.
Woodstock Farmers Market Kids Day. There will be a cooking demonstration, live kids' music, face painting, a rock wall, clay sculpting, balloon twister Olive Rootbeer, alpacas, Mr. Lizard's Reptile Show, and more! We are pleased to be sponsoring crafts with Little Wing of Portland and a kids play space with Southside Swap n Play. C'mon by to pick up your copy of Metro Parent's August issue! Sunday 10am-2pm.
Hawthorne Street Fair. A wonderful celebration of the Hawthorne neighborhood, featuring kids events sponsored by Kids at Heart Toys! Join the fun for an amazing line up of entertainers and musicians including Lorna Miller, The Amazing Spaghetti, Penny's Puppets and Mr. Ben. In addition we will be there with the PDX Kids Calendar fun photo booth and Roger J. Porter photography, as well as foam bracelet crafts with Hands on Art and Play preschool. Stop by and say hello to a turkey vulture and have your face painted by our favorite clown about town - Olive Rootbeer! Sunday 11am-7pm. Free!
Portland Festival Symphony at Peninsula Park. Classical music rocks the park. Sunday 6pm. Free!
