The Tigard Balloon Festival begins this Friday at Cook Park bright and early at 5:45 a.m. and continues through the weekend. In addition to hot air balloons, you can also expect food, games, vintage cars, music, and lots more. $7.
Another great festival is happening this weekend - Good in the Hood, a multicultural celebration. There will be a variety of cultural food vendors, an information village, and a kids space. At Lillis-Albina Park in North Portland Friday from 6 to 9:30 and Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12. Free with a donation of 2 cans of food.
Make a Goth Sock Puppet at the Fairview-Columbia library on Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 in this workshop led by artist Dawn Grunwald. Best for teens. Free!
Ever wanted to dance the hula? Here's your chance! The Albina Library is hosting a learn to hula party on Saturday from 2 to 3. Best for teens.
Or learn to play the ukulele at the Holgate Library on Saturday from 2 to 2:45. Fun for all ages and free!
Celebrate National Pollinator Week at the Sauvie Island Center on Saturday from 10 to 12. The interactive curriculum provides an opportunity for kids to learn how pollination works and why pollinators are major contributors to our food system. In addition to making bee houses and tasting honey, kids will search the grounds of the farm and the native hedgerow for signs of pollinators. $10/family.
The Original Practice Shakespeare season gets underway this week. They will be performing As You Like It in Gabriel Park at 2 on Saturday and Romeo and Juliet at Kenton Park at 1 on Sunday. Free!
Portland Sunday Parkways continues this weekend in vibrant North Portland. Enjoy the car-free neighborhoods and all the kid-friendly entertainment. Sunday from 11 to 4.
Check out the very first Sunday Trailways in Beaverton, featuring more than four miles of fun, fitness, and activity along the Fanno Creek Trail. Sunday from 11 to 3.
It's Super Hero Day at Green Bean Books! Make a cape and a mask and share superhero stories and games. $5/child. Please pre-register. Sunday from 1 to 2.
Head to TaborSpace on Sunday from 4 to 6 for a book signing and puppet show for Bronto and the Pterodactyl Eggs by Charlotte Vivian Rodenberg. Free!
