Weekend Warriors - 4/6 - 4/8

Well, it's Easter weekend, so that means loads of Easter Egg Hunts near and far.  PDX Kids Calendar has compiled a comprehensive list - from community centers to museums to parks and beyond.  You can view them all here.   

And some non-Easter-related events -

Head to Green Bean Books for their monthly Spanish Storytime on Friday at 11:15.  Perfect for the little ones, and free!

This Friday is the first Friday of the month - which means free admission to the Portland Children’s Museum.  Expect special crafts, activities, and musical guests - plus all the museum's exhibits and attractions - all for free!  Friday beginning at 4.

MAC is presenting a free screening of the 2011 Muppets Movie!  Included in the festivities are music, popcorn, and more!  Friday at 7:30.  Music begins at 6:30.  Free, but donations of nonperishable food are welcome. 

Celebrate Arbor Week at the Lake Oswego Library on Saturday from 10:30 to 1 with a special craft appropriate for all ages.  Free! 

Powell’s Books hosts its weekly storytime for kids on Saturday at 11.  This week, local author Emily Winfield Martin will be reading from her book “Oddfellow’s Orphanage.”  Free!

One of these days, the weather has to turn nice!  Fingers crossed for sun on Saturday at 1 for the painted turtle walk at the Smith and Bybee Wetlands.  Join a naturalist to check out these shy reptiles.  Best for ages 5 and up and advance registration is required.  Free!

Have you checked out the Portland Youth Spelling Bee at Mississippi Pizza yet?  Brings your 5-18 year old and head on over on Saturday at 1 for some spelling-related fun and pizza.  Free!

Head to the Hillsboro Library on Sunday at 2:30 for Passover Stories for Preschoolers.  Performers will actively engage children and parents in a storytelling presentation of several Passover stories.  Free!

Celebrate Spring at the Children’s Museum on Sunday from 9:30 to 3:30.  Plant, dance, create, sing with Greasy Kids Stuff, and enjoy the museum!  An additional craft fee may apply over the $9 admission fee.

what is MAC? showing the muppets. I assume it's not the multnomah athletic club....

never mind i found it!

My daughter (age 8) just read _Oddfellows Orphanage_ by Emily Winfield Martin, and pronounced it the "best book ever." We can't make the reading, but wanted to just spread the word that this is a great book!
