My nam-nams need support: seeking best nursing bras
I think it has been over a month since I wore a bra. The tank tops with the shelf lining/bra is just too easy and comfortable. Recently, however, a glance at my profile in the mirror made me feel like everything was slumping, sliding. I felt like I could use a little pick-me-up.
With this round of nursing, almost two years in, I think I have rotated through maybe only three nursing bras, but I have maxed out the use of the shelf tank tops. One nursing bra was perfect for earlier months, when I had more volume. It was a Motherhood, full-coverage, lightly padded, seamless number: supportive and effective. My second nursing bra was more of the weekender, a total soft cup, unpadded, Bella Materna bra with a little rouching. This one I loved because the whole cup folded down when unlatched, unlike the Motherhood one that had this fabric with a big hole where my breast would jut out of. That was just weird. My third nursing bra was a little treat, a little something I picked up at Posh Baby in the Pearl. It's a microfiber smooth cup with a little lacey trim, very functional but the slightest bit feminine (the Bella BumBum nursing bra).
All of these bras have run their course (tattered from all the laundering, clipping, and unclipping), and I think I deserve another one. I don't want to break the bank, but I do know that we have several more months of nursing ahead, though on a tapered schedule (as the boy turns 2 in a few weeks). Today's NYT article on nursing bras become more fashionable as well as functional makes me think that I'm not the only one on the search for the best nursing bra. Your recommendations on styles & where to buy?

Oh I myself love Target's lacy nursing underwires for breastfeeding & still feeling shhhexy.

Get thee to Just Like A Woman http://www.justlikeawoman.com/ on Macadam. Good selection of nursing bras and awesome fitters. They are very good at listening and finding just what you want and not selling you something else.

I second Just Like a Woman or Nordstrom. I liked the Anita nursing bras for support - not particularly sexy, but they helped the sag factor.

Yup. Just like a woman is great - a bit pricier, but I only get my bras there since the service/fittings are wonderful and they have my size (I'm a 34 ff/g.)

Bravado nursing bras are amazing. I still wear mine and I am not nursing anymore

I plan on getting at least one of these hotmilk bras this time around. (due in 3 weeks) my nursing bras last time did the job but after wearing them forever I wanted something much prettier. so pretty!

question for nursing moms though. how do you keep the milk from dripping down and soaking the bottom? I'm not sure if it was my son overfilling his mouth or me just dripping all over the place. I had to tuck a cloth into my bra to soak it up.

ditto on the target bras. they rock - totally better than the expensive ones.

Blue Moon is my favorite nursing bra. More comfy than sexy, though. All jersey cotton, no wires. I have a "datenight" one that has a slinkier cut. I think my husband buys them for me at Gazelle, 42nd and Fremont.

I loved the Elle McPherson bras I bought at Nordstrom.

Nordstrom for sure has the best nursing bras--and you get the expert help to find the right fit.

I couldn't get any Target bras in my size (34G) while nursing. My Anita bras were expensive, but they were super supportive and I only needed two of them.

this probably doesn't apply to you if you can wear a shelf bra, but for bigger chested ladies who may be reading (I'm a 34G while nursing) I love the Elomi nursing bra #3912. I ordered it online at breakoutbras and wish I'd known about it sooner-- best support I've found in a nursing bra. Before I had some Anita bras which were good but not as supportive. Have gotten good service at Nordie's and Just Like a Woman in the past too.

I lived in a nursing sports bra from Title 9 and Target nursing bras of all sorts, each one in a slightly different color/style.
