Do you know of a space to rent?
I am a new mom to a three year old and have found that working Full Time and being a mom is rough, nonetheless, it is very difficult to find activities for three year olds or toddlers in Beaverton during the weekends. My findings have only shown that there are activities (fun ones) within the private communities and thru THRPD during the week, when most of us work. I am a dedicated mother that wants to find more outlets and avenues for my child and other children. I wanted to know if you rent out space or lease space to individuals that would like to provide a class to children that otherwise is not offered? I would love and enjoy more than anything to provide and outlet either a dance class, art class, reading class or just a fun place to let your kids go free an wanted to knowif you could support this effort?

Here here!! I will be watching this, we are in Vancouver.... It is VERY annoying that open play gyms classes ect are during the week! But at the same time we find it hard to fit a bunch of activities into the weekend. It's a catch 22....

Maybe the same things aren't offered in other cities, but I know that we really enjoyed parks and rec art, dance and swim classes on weekends, esp Saturdays. Also, through the Portland Early Learning Project there are language lessons for little ones, etc. We've also done skating classes and open skate at Lloyd Ctr and Oaks Park on weekends. More than anything else, though, having other friends who have kids and who we see regularly is so helpful in maintaining our sanity. Kids don't really need more lessons, they just need friends and a non-crazy parent.

I was able to find Saturday classes at the Southwest Community Center. Dance, sports, art. We were able to do something almost every Saturday.

If you're working full time, I imagine your child is getting a lot of structured time during the week in care. What about skipping a class and just going to the park or on hikes? It might be just good down time and always available. Even in the dead of winter, we put on boots and rain jackets and head out.
Also, the libraries here in PDX often have story times on the weekends. I don't know about your area. And the Portland Art Museum does Family Sunday events about once a month or so.

As to a rental space, I know that Poise Studio (poisestudio.com) has a nice space in Aloha (off 185th near TVH) that might be available for rental for dance/exercise on Saturday afternoons or Sundays. You could contact them (poisestudio.com) to see.

We rent out the Family Room at Milagros for a variety of events and classes:

You could try churches in your area--sometimes they have activity rooms available for an affordable price or donation that can be split among participants.

pump it up, jr. is a great place to take your kids to let off some energy. the junior location is for little ones (i'd say 5-6 yrs and under). they have an open drop in time, like noon to 2? 11-1? something in that range.

My current Growing Arts Creative Movement classes are during the week on Wednesday mornings but this September I hope to offer classes on Saturdays. I rent space at Believe Movement Studio in NE Portland.
It is always great to know that folks are looking for a class in a particular area of town or on a specific day to build new classes.
I am very happy to offer Creative Movement classes to a group if you have a few friends that want to get together regularly.
Check out my current class info at: www.GrowingArtsCenter.com
