About this time last year a bunch of us (and our kids, natch) got together to chat about any and all things Activistas,
and we're gonna do it again this summer. But this time we have a
slight agenda (in addition to the chance to yak about workplace and
public policies that are and aren't working for your family): the
founders of Family Forward Oregon
are going to tell us about this new organization. What inspired them?
What are the plans? What issues will they tackle - and how? How can you be involved?

As a working mom, I am extremely interested in policies that affect families. So I find it more than a little annoying that this meeting, which I'd really like to attend, is being held right smackdab in the middle of the work day. Is it just for SAHMs? Could you be a little more exclusionary?

Hopefully they can plan another play-date/info session either on the weekend or after work. I am off work Fridays and could attend, but have conflict.

I'm sorry. No one intends to be exclusionary. We work full-time also. But, we sneak out of work to do things like this on a Friday. And, the weekend is typically reserved for the family time.
We will try to circle back with another Activistas playdate on the weekend. We do alternate weekdays and weekends, and will try to schedule the next one on a weekend. In the meantime, feel free to email us to be in touch. urbanMamas@gmail.com or activistas@gmail.com

Nicole, So glad to hear you're interested, that's great news. Email us at activistas@gmail.com to jump in. We plan events on weekdays (I work every day but Friday, personally) and weekends to catch everyone when it works for them, since that's how parent engagement works! Even at 3 Pm on Saturdays we can't catch everyone. When is a good time for you and we can plan accordingly. Again, glad you're interested. It's going to take a lot of us to make it all better.
