Visiting Portland: where to rent a babycarrier?
This is a unique question. Let's help Eric and his visiting family find accomdoations for his time here:
My family will be visiting Oregon next month for the first time. We have two kids, 3 and 6 years old. Do you know of any place which rents babycarriers in Portland? We plan to do a little hiking at Mt. St. Helens and the gorge.
Looking for some hikes in the area? Check out:
- Get Yer Boots On - great family hikes in the Columbia Gorge
- Hike the Coast! - favorite jaunts on the Oregon Coast
If you feel like plugging your favorite Portland-area "kid-friendly" hiking trails, have at it!

I recommend just asking to borrow from someone - either on freecycle or craigslist.

I wonder if REI rents Kelty framepack carriers?
Otherwise, there are two baby equipment rental places that I know of (but have no experience with): www.rent4baby.com and www.jibbajib.com - worth checking with them to see if they rent backpacks/carriers.

I would recommend ust buying a used one at any of the dozens of used baby equipment places in town. In SE there is Piccolina on 26th? and Clinton or the Children's Exchange on division and 30th?. I cannot imagine it would be cheaper to rent one and then you can pass it along or resell it when you leave. Good Luck!

Many women never go back to bikinis after babes, what with loose skin, stretch marks, mummy tummys and the like, and that's always been a symbolic
