What's On Your Netflix Queue?
The deep and heavy parenting topics are great, but sometimes I personally love to compare notes on mindless stuff. The big thought-provoking question for me these days is, what's on your Netflix queue? I'll share mine, if you share yours.
- Atonement. Because it's an Academy Award winner.
- Raising Cain. For a showing with for a group of mamas of boys.
- A Walk to Remember. A "mood-inducing" chick flick is a must for our list.
- The Da Vinci Code. Because I loved the book.
- Bee Movie. Something for the kids.
- Into the Wild. Something for the husband.
Do tell, what's on your list? Any must see movies that should make it to the list, especially those great "mood-inducing" (a.k.a. cheesy romantic movies) favorites?

into the wild- beg to differ not just a guy movie. This mama liked it too!

I have been recommending this movie to ALL my friends, but particularly anyone interested in graphic design or the art of typefaces. "Helvetica" is just fantastic - a documentary about the history and impact and ubiquitousness(?) of the font. Good soundtrack, too!
It won't really get the fires burning, but if you're talking more about inducing a mood of romance (or at least a deep gratitude that your partner is by your side), we finally just watched "The Constant Gardener." It's tragic, but it's also a pretty beautiful love story.

The Savages - recommended
Pete's Dragon - Puff... childhood memories
Hustle & Flow - great sound track
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.. see above... cm
The Pursuit of Happyness - the preview scene in the Bart station bathroom, brought me to tears instantly.. I want to see this movie as I crying is a good thing sometimes.
Factory Girl - An arty, groovy Andy Warholy (I'm a big fan)flick about Edie Sedgwick and the 60's in NYC.
Just sent back Juno - so good... every one's probably already seen it, though. Awesome soundtrack.
We have 92 movies in the queue!

Under the Same Moon (Bajo la Misma Luna). Incredible, sad, and beautiful. A mother and her child's love knows NO BORDERS!

The weirdest thing is that I just came here from my NetFlix Queue. I had Shetha put several in the queue and I needed to put a few of my choices in at every other queue spot... that way we get one of each of our picks.
Right now we have Cloverfield and Stardust (which was surprisingly good).
Next in the queue is Juno, The Transporter, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Orphanage.
Sounds kinda funny, but I bet you can't guess which I chose and which Shetha chose.

Still catching up w/ the last season of The Sopranos...
We like to Netflix tv shows and also have Battlestar Galactica in the queue. It's cheaper than having cable.

We use Blockbuster online for our movies through the mail. It's fun to be able to trade them in the store for even more movies. They are the same price as Netflix plus you can exchange up to 5 movies per month in the store.
We love to watch the cable shows on DVD: Sopranos, Rome, Deadwood, The Riches, Damages, Big Love, Weeds, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Planet Earth, etc. Much cheaper than cable + no ads!

OK, so I've developed a quirky addiction to Bollywood musicals, which account for approximately 68 of the 71 items in my queue. The ones I'm most looking forward to:
Chak De! India -- Winner of best picture at the most recent Filmfare Awards, starring the incomparably awesome Shahrukh Khan as a washed-up field hockey star turned coach for the women's national team.
Amar, Akbar, Anthony -- Classic 70s comedy about three brothers who are separated at birth, raised (respectively) in Hindu, Muslim and Christian households, and then reunited as adults.
Saawariya -- A lushly produced romance based on a story by Dostoevsky. Might have been a blockbuster in 2007, except that it opened on the same night as Shahrukh's super-fabulous show business extravaganza, Om Shanti Om.
:)

P.S. Hindi cinema has it totally going on in the "mood-inducing" girl porn department... on-screen kissing and whatnot are generally frowned upon, so Bollywood romance is all about erotically charged glances, wet saris, and visual double entendres, all in the context of unswerving loyalty and devotion. On the especially recommended list: Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Paheli, and Fanaa. (As an added bonus for the other half, Fanaa combines chick flick heaven with testosterone-fueled action, in a surprisingly successful way.)

we recently finished all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and now we're on season two of Angel. Buffy lived up to the hype ... it is incredible!
