Helping the Papa make Papa friends
It's so fun when we get to meet you in person! Last night, we met Kelly and Ethan, mama and papa to a 5 month old Jackson. Ethan stays home 3 days a week with baby Jackson. When we got to talking about daddy groups and possible papa meet-ups, it occurred to us that it'd been a while since we'd talked about support for the papas.
Beyond "Support for the SAHDs" or "Surfing urbanPapas", do you have more suggestions for the stay-at-home daddy set? Know of a great papa group? Have you helped your babe's papa connect with other papas? What are foolproof ways to get the daddies in on the playdate circuit?

I checked out OutdoorDads.com (thanks for the reminder) and I think it'll be a great way for Jackson and I to get outside. It doesn't look like their hikes ever require snowshoes . . . which is too bad. Maybe snow and little kids is too much chaos in groups . . .

About a year ago I hosted a dad's playgroup at Milagros a few times. The reality with my schedule is that I can't commit to a regular day/time for this.
SO if there are some volunteers dads out there interested in having a regular dads playgroup that is open to all dads, I can offer up the space! Just drop me a line at milagros (at) milagrosboutique (dot) com

When our daughter was new, I participated in three different mom's groups/playgroups. Two of those "mom's" groups had papas there, too. I think that more often than not, a kid with a dad attached to it is just as welcome at a playgroup as a kid with a mama attached. I think you've gotta mingle - I've met great dads at coffee shops, farmer's markets, etc. I also remember seeing groups of dads at the Kennedy School's movie matinees.
My husband never had the desire to join/form a dad's group, but I think that if he was ever invited to join one that culminated in going to the mommy & me matinee, he'd be more inclined to check it out (beer! beer! beer!).
