Modeling Agencies for Kids
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but what if your child is blessed with good looks? One mama asks about any recommendations for beautiful babies:
I was wondering if anyone has any experience or recommendations with modeling agencies for kids. I'd rather go word-of-mouth than the yellow pages, if possible.

We went to ABC talent (associated with Murphy Management). I understand they are the only ones in town that work with babies. They were nice enough when they were selling us on the progam, but if friend asked me what I thought I would say it is not worth the time or money (you have to pay almost $300 to even learn about the process).

a friend of mine works in the industry and she recommended just taking your kid to open casting calls (w/out representation) to see how things go. For babies they base a lot of call-backs on temperment, not just looks alone. So, the advice she gave was that it's best to save some money until you know your child is really loving being in front of the camera.

Hello,
I work in the industry, and I always offer people some solid advice when asked about getting their kids into modeling. Never go to an agency who charges you anything! Those agencies make most of their money from you giving them money not from finding people jobs. A reputable agency only needs a snapshot of your child, you can take one yourself. You do not need a comp card.
But honestly, there isn't much work for children here in portland. Most of the work is in NY, LA and Miami.
Hope this helps!
