Be cautious in the Oregon Zoo parking lot
The Oregon Zoo parking lot, by virtue of its function, creates a bit of a fish-in-a-barrel for petty criminals (or more heinous ones--remember this story from last July?). A friend's messenger bag was stolen from inside our car Friday morning while she was inside the Children's Museum. She did not even notice at first that her bag was missing. The thieves simply helped themselves to the desired object, then closed the door behind them, leaving nothing visibly amiss. We did not notice until this morning that the passenger door lock had been broken into (this is how they got in). I know many of us patronize the Zoo and Museums regularly. It seems worthwhile to pass this information along. Let's look out for ourselves, our families, our valuables and our neighbors with just a bit of extra vigilance in the Oregon Zoo parking lot.

Yes, be very careful. My husband just called me from the Zoo parking lot where someone had broken into our car, stolen the subwoofer (this thing was 4' long and huge!) and stolen my husband's beloved ipod out of the glove box. He said no windows were broken- all they left was an unlocked door. He was parked in the main parking lot.
