Starting Kindergarten at Buckman Next Year

My son Nicholas is starting school at Buckman and I thought it would be excellent to arrange for playdates with others who are starting there as well.    Let me know and we can set it up!

Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School: Tours & Roundups 2009

For those looking for a great school for their elementary-age child in the 2009-10 school year, Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School is the place to check out. Buckman invites Portland families to visit the school, take a tour and find out about its thriving community and exciting arts-based curriculum.

The Portland Public Schools transfer application deadline for elementary schools is March 13, 2009. Tours will be held at the school on Tuesdays at 9:15 am and 1:00pm starting February 3 and running through March 17. The Kindergarten Roundup for Buckman neighborhood families will be held February 3 at 6:30pm. For more information, parents can call the school at (503) 916-6230. Reservations for the tours are recommended.

Buckman is an Arts Focus Elementary school open to students from across the PPS school district , as well as an inner SE neighborhood school. Buckman offers arts-integrated education. This means that while providing students with a strong academic base, the teachers work to nurture the whole child—intellectual, emotional, social, and physical. Staff use a multiple intelligence approach, working with and inspiring students' linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, body-kinetic, spatial, interpersonal, and intrapersonal intelligences. This allows students to make real, immediate and personal connections to academic subject matter.

Tuesdays, February 5, 12, 19, and 26 and March 4
