The guiding principles of Opal Museum School are influenced by the work of the early childhood schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, neuroscience research, and best practices in early childhood education in the U.S. and beyond. Our mission is to inspire imagination, creativity and the wonder of learning by providing environments and experiences that fully engage the active minds of young children.

You are invited to attend Opal Museum School's information night this Thursday, January 28th, at the Portland Children's Museum, from 6:30 - 8 pm. Opal Museum School's early kindergarten program is for children ages 4 (by Sept 1) - 6 years old. RSVP by leaving a message at 503-471-9917.

Please visit our website for more details.

Hi Ashley! I am wondering if you ever got your questions answered regarding the Opal School Early Kindergarten? I know that the Early K has a couple of spots left for the upcoming year (2011-2012) and I highly recommend the program. Both of the teachers for next year have taught my two oldest children and I can't speak highly enough of them. While this program is seperate from the Opal Charter School, the Museum School is their Early Childhood Program, the philosophies are directly aligned and the staff are amazing. There is, however, a fee to attend. Children who attend the Early Kindergarten will be prepared to attend First Grade the following year or may choose to use the experience as an additional Kindergarten year - it is up to each family.

I just have to say that all three of my children have been Opal School kids and it is the very best decision our family could have ever made!

no. The child has to fit into the age guidelines to enter first grade.
The kindergarten program at Opal is a PPS charter. The program that you are referring to is the Museum School Kindergarten. Completely different school. Same ideas, same building. Opal is free, the Museum School is not.

I'm looking for experience with the Opal School, particularly the early Kindergarden program. I left messages with the school, but a primary questions is, do students who complete the early kindergarten program then enter the 1st grade class?

Any information would be helpful!

Thanks!
Ashley
