November 19, 2008

I am wondering if there are any Montessori or in the style of Montessori options for 1st through 8th grade?

I don't have extensive knowledge of Montessori, so I'm not the best person to answer this, but I know that we have had many families coming from Montessori schools (both preschool and older) to Creative Science School who seem to feel as though it's a good transition. Again, I don't know about this from my own personal experience, but it might be worth checking out. Creative Science School is a magnet school through PPS (not a charter) and located in outer SE. There is a lot of info on the website: www.creativescienceschool.org.

Hope that's helpful!

A new Montessori charter school is opening this fall (2009) in Silverton. It is called "Community Roots Montessori" and will be serving 1st-3rd grade this fall, growing with the oldest children to K-8.

Not sure when you'll need the 8th grade class... Childpeace Montessori is starting a middle school Fall 2009. They already have toddler - 6th grade. Will add 7th grade in '09 and 8th grade '10.

Here is a link to the web site for the Ivy School:

Does anyone have any info/comments about Emerson School in the Pearl?

You might look into Ivy Charter school..they should be getting approval from ODE and open next year as far as I know.

I would check out the Franciscan Montessori Earth School...accredited pre-K through grade 8, located at at S.E. 148th and Clinton Street. Their website is: www.fmes.org
