New Program Seeking Space

February 12, 2012

LogofinalWe are thrilled to be bringing our new program to the Pacific Northwest for the 2012 schoolyear, but we are in need of a space! We seek to serve in the range of 30 preschool aged students, no more than 42, and want to find the ideal location to house this program. While we find a challenge thrilling we do not seek to navigate conditional use permits, TIFs or the like and would like a space with the same previous use (commercial, E use, etc..).

Please contact us if you know of childcare centers that are relocating, vacancies of spaces or other leads. And we will be back with information on how to enroll your gifted, bright and creative child!

Gym with childcare or Mama boot camp?

January 22, 2012

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Portland and have an 8 month old. We live in North Portland and I'm trying to find a gym with childcare, or a mama boot camp type thing (where you can bring your baby). I haven't found anything close by to our home. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

In need of breastmilk

December 11, 2010

I've just given birth and unfortunately cannot supply an adequate amount of milk for my baby. I'm only able to supply 1/4oz per feeding/pumping. I've seen the lactation nurses and am trying many things. My baby has lost more weight than normal so I've had to supplement, using tools at the breast. I also pump, take herbal vitamins and nothing seems to be working. I'm very disappointed and saddened by this, I just don't know what went wrong. It brings me to tears to think that I can't supply for my baby.

I'd like to feed him breastmilk, I dont' want to rely on formula. Are there any moms that could help me out?

Thank you so much,

-roni

Seeking A Creative, Savvy Mom for a Temp, Part-Time Position

October 18, 2010

Part Time Personalized Jewelry Marketing Assistant needed for seasonal work (Late October through December 2010, or the 3 month period that follows your sign-on date).

An independent Southern California jewelry designer is seeking a special individual to promote her work in the Portland area. Our personalized jewelry is a specialty niche that is very attractive to moms (and women, in general) between the ages of 25-45. We have a great reputation as a small creative, innovative business. Our product sells itself fairly well and receives lots of word-of-mouth promotion amongst customers once it is introduced to our target customers. We love to facilitate this process with fun marketing by real people who love to make connections!

 Responsibilities include:

 1. Making connections on the social media (i.e., Twitter, Facebook).

2. Casual networking at one live social event per month that caters to our target customers (i.e., a mom’s group, birthday party, baby shower - basically events you may already be attending).

3. Setting up a monthly group appointment with interested customers who would like to place custom orders in person with the designer (this is often a customer request though you would need to provide design pre-consultation to interested attendees). Group appointments can also be set up at mom/baby boutiques.

4. Participating in one sales/marketing event per month (i.e., setting up a table of designs and marketing materials at a holiday boutique event, art show, farmer's market or other multi-vendor event).

5. Maintaining a database of Portland customer email and physical addresses.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

Is fairly well connected in mom communities both in the Portland area and online, particularly with moms who value artful, higher end products.

Is social media savvy and can communicate well online without being pushy and too sales-pitchy.

Has at least 10-15 hours per week to devote to this position.

Is creative and has amazing self-initiative (you create your schedule, as long as the work gets done!).

Has a warm, fun personality.

Is comfortable with sales and marketing and can strategize a plan of action to meet weekly and monthly goals.

Compensation:

$500 per month plus 20% commission.

$500 is based on showing concrete proof that responsibilities have been met in each of the 5 categories above. We will help you do this will a weekly strategizing session.

Typical commission amount that results from a group appointment of 4-6 customers is approximately $200, and additional commission is can be generated from individual sales.

This is a fun opportunity and once you see our unordinary jewelry, you will see how easy it is for others to fall in love with it. This position has a strong likelihood of turning into a permanent position with added creative responsibilities. Serious inquiries only...and please, we are not looking for someone who basically wants a job. We really need someone who is creative, goal-oriented and can invest some heart, soul and inspiring energy into our lovely business and be a part of a team of other incredible marketing reps. Thank you!

Drop-in Groups for New Parents Coming! Web of Life needs your help!

September 10, 2010

Web of Life logoWeb of Life is a hub of unbiased, impartial support for growing families. We are set to open in early November 2010 in SE Portland.

We are starting with 'a la carte' childbirth prep workshops (not your typical 4-6 week long classes) and facilitated drop-in groups for new parents during daytime and evening hours.

To get this baby off the ground, we need your help!

WE NEED GROUP LEADERS & TEACHERS

We are looking for interested and credentialed health care practitioners (infant development specialist, pediatrician, nurse, midwife)  to lead and facilitate age-based drop in groups for new parents.  We are also offering a sleep issues group and will add more as there is demand. The idea is that parents of 0-3 month old babies (and 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12 months) can come to Web of Life and ask this practitioner any question pertaining to development or challenges.  Each parent/family will be asked to pay a suggested $10 donation for participating.  Group leaders will be compensated for their time.  Please send all suggestions and inquiries to info@weboflife.com.

All of our program descriptions, dates, and times are on our web site.  Pre-registration is only required for childbirth prep workshops and our GPS (Groups for early Parenthood Support) structured programs.

WE NEED SMALL, MEDIUM, & LARGE DONATIONS

To subsidize the cost of our programs, provide access to all families regardless of ability to pay,  and to fairly compensate our group leaders, we are partnering with other businesses and our community. Donations are an essential part of keeping Web of Life going.  In order to increase access to well-researched and unbiased information for new families, we intend to have one location in each quadrant of Portland by Fall 2011.

WE NEED YOU TO TELL OTHERS!

Please share with others that Web of Life exists, is launching, and promises to fill support gaps in Portland's new parent community.  We can be found on Facebook and we also have an email list!

Web of Life will be opening in SE Portland at 3434 SE Milwaukie Ave, across from Brooklyn Park in The Warehouse: a cafe, food buying club, and community. All inquiries can be sent to Kelly Schneyer, Executive Director,  (503) 449-5296 or info@weboflifepdx.com.

Thanks for your support!  We can't wait to launch!
