Family Holidays-in-the-City

It's so fun!  Portraits of your family all bundled up in scarves and hats in festive colors... red noses and big big smiles.  It's a fantastic gift to give, and prints will be delivered by December 20th, just in time to frame, wrap and stick under the tree.

WHAT:  Holiday Family Portrait Sessions by Amy at Moving Pictures Studio

WHERE:  In front of the tree in Pioneer Courthouse Square, or in front of the tree and GIANT GIFTS at Jamison Square in the Pearl District

WHEN: Sessions are available between November 29th and December 13th.  Weekday and weekend sessions available.

Swim at PP&R Pools & win a free turkey!

Take a dip in a Portland pool this fall and enter to win a free Thanksgiving turkey at the 5 Portland Parks & Recreation’s five indoor pools. It’s all part of the 5th Annual Turkey Swim. Beginning Thursday, November 1 through Sunday, November 22, Portland’s public pools will be handing out an entry form for each paid admission to an Aquatics program, such as Lap Swim or Open Play Swim. The entries at each pool will be placed in a drawing to win a frozen turkey at that location.

On Monday, November 23, each of the five pools will draw a name and the five lucky winners will have a turkey on us.

Tea in the Month of May

Hello everyone!!  I am a volunteer with Nursing Mothers Counsel and I wanted to pass this information on to all of the Urban Mamas!

Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon has partnered with the Lavender Tea House In Sherwood for a NMC High Tea in the month of May, Tuesday-Friday because the weekends are already booked! The NMC High Tea includes Choice of Tea, Soup Du Jour, 4 tea sandwiches, LTH sweet cream scones, condiments and mini desserts.  it is $20 but 50% goes to help support Nursing Mothers Counsel continue to support, promote, protect nursing mothers in Oregon. So if you make it out for tea this month, please order the NMC High Tea at the Lavender Tea House!  Thank You!!

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping mothers have a good breastfeeding relationship with their babies. We provide free breastfeeding information, low cost pump sales and rentals, and in-home lactation consultation for those with limited access to care. Our volunteers are trained to provide mama-to-mama peer counseling. Through our free help-lines, classes, website, pumps and training, we help approximately 12,500 women per year! With our help, breastfeeding rates in Oregon have ranked at the top of the nation from 2001 - 2004, the most recent years data is available. In our efforts to provide this support to families, we rely solely on grants and donations from the community.

Infant/Toddler Music Class

I am starting an Infant / Toddler music class at Hollywood Music Education Center in NE Portland (Sandy and 42nd). Here's what you get with "Music & Me" (parent / child music class):

*Instrument Play
* Melodies specific to age group with Movements
* Some sign language incorporated
* Rhythm and coordination
* Interactive parent / child wiggles, rhymes, and songs


Classes are Mondays OR Wednesdays for 30 minutes. Session is 10 weeks long.
9:15 - Non-walkers
10:00 - Toddlers
10:45 Preschoolers up to age 4

Siblings 8 months and younger attend free with one paid child.
