Portland Green Parenting is a drop site for Sauvie Island Organics CSA shares in SE Portland!

I am very excited to announce that Portland Green Parenting is now an official box drop site for Sauvie Island Organics -- an ultra local, sustainable farm located on Sauvie Island. By joining SIO CSA, you can expect to share in the season's bounty, support sustainable agriculture, reduce your food miles, and help your local farmers earn a living wage. Your weekly basket will be chock full of the freshest, local greens, root veggies, squashes, tomatoes and lots more (the farm grows over 40 varieties of veggies), and is large enough for appx a family of 4. The cost of one share is $875 + $45 fee for boxing and delivery of your bins to the drop site.

To sign up, simply fill out the form and mail in your deposit for the 2009 season. The PGP box drop site is located at SE 46th and Harrison, just south of Hawthorne.

Pick up will be on Tuesdays between 4-8 pm. As a value added service, PGP is also planning to put together certified organic fruit bins from Organically Grown Company that can be picked up on the same day along with your CSA share for an additional cost.

Reimbursements for online charter school students: Village Home has a special arrangement with EdChoices Web and Early College Academies.  Edchoices family of charter schools utilizes curriculum supplied by Calvert (paper and pencil), OdysseyWare, and Rossetta Stone for grades K-12. In addition, EdChoices offers an "Early College" program that allows students to earn community college and high school credits at the same time. EdChoices (Marcola Web Academy, Marcola Early College, Sisters Web Academy, Sisters Early College, Estacada Web Academy) students can now get reimbursed for Village Home classes and fees, up to $500 per term per student. . I am looking to share our office space with other designers, artists, writers, hobbyists, anyone who wants a desk and a fun, collaborative space to work. Tandem Coffeehouse

Hi there,
I am the new owner of a small, mama owned, coffee shop in SE Portland, Tandem Coffeehouse. As a long time reader of urbanmamas, I thought it would be a fantastic place to let people know about our shop. We are very family friendly with a kids play area, family friendly local art and a growing menu of house made treats as well as sandwiches and soup. We serve Stumptown coffee and Dragonfly chai and try to use local products and vendors whenever possible. We will be having a story time once or twice week, and our play area is a great place for mama/ baby groups to meet. We are open from 7am-4pm weekdays and 8am-4pm weekends. We are currently seeking to fill the following positions.  We are are somewhat flexible in terms of hours and days, and positions can be job shared very easily.  We are commited to being a family friendly/mother friendly/baby friendly employer! All employees will receive mother friendly/baby friendly training.

Part time Childcare provider(s) for drop in childcare for families receiving services on site.  Available shifts are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 9:45-2:15.  This could evolve into more hours, if desired, and there are also occasionally shifts that need coverage, with short notice, to fill in for other childcare provider(s) when illness or other unforseen events prevent them from working.

Must have experience with children and an interest in respectful communication and conflict resolution with young children (all childcare employees will receive training).  It is possible to arrange to bring your own child (1) for this position.

Part time Receptionist/Boutique Clerk to welcome guests, answer phones and direct calls, register and schedule class attendees, and lactation, massage, and spa service clients, and assist guests with boutique purchases.  Must be a great multi-tasker, with wonderful people skills and a commitment to supporting families.  Med/Spa appointment scheduling experience strongly desired.  Retail experience a big plus.

Part time Licensed Nail Technician to provide acrylic free, low fume pedicures and manicures using natural nail polish.  Must be willing to provide services to mothers while they hold and/or nurse their babies.  Must be available on Saturdays.
