$150 Online Blog for New Moms and Expectant Moms!

July 28, 2010

My company is currently recruiting new moms and expectant moms from the Portland area to participate in a 1 week $150 paid online bulletin board (which is very similar to a blog).

During the 1 week online bulletin board, you would be answering questions posted by a professional moderator, as well as communicating with other local moms like yourself about child care and products that new moms like yourself would be experiencing. All of the information you provide is completely confidential and is used only for research purposes. If you complete the full 1 week blog, you would be mailed a check for $150 for participating.

If you are currently pregnant, or are a first time mom with a child between 0 and 3 months then we'd love for you to participate. If you would like to participate, or would like additional information, you can contact us by emailing Beth at beth@focusfwd.com, or calling toll free 888-882-2466 x247. Or, if you'd like more information on our company before contacting us, feel free to check out our website at www.focusfwd.com.

Is "prepare our wills" one of your New Year's resolutions?

November 09, 2009

If you want to make 2010 the year you finally get your estate planning done, then you don't want to miss this FREE workshop! I am holding my popular Kids Protection Planning workshop this Saturday, October 17th at Zenana Spa, 2024 SE Clinton St.!

Every family who comes to the workshop will not just discover how to protect their children through estate planning in the event something happens to them (the parents), but they will also leave with all of the tools they need to make sure their kids are always with the right people and raised in the right way. I will be giving away everything that you need to make sure that your children never spend a minute in foster care, that they are always raised by the people that you would choose, and that your chosen guardians always know how you want your kids raised.

Why am I doing this?

I'm doing this because I have gotten very clear about my mission, which is to make sure that every parent is educated about what would happen to their kids if the unthinkable happened, and that they have the tools they need to take action and get everything in place, even if they can't afford my estate planning fees.

You see, my own mother died when I was 2 1/2 years old, and she died without an estate plan. What happened after that was a mess, and
I want to make sure that no child ever experiences what I experienced - foster care, unsuitable guardians, misused funds, and nothing to show me who my mother really was. The workshop is free, and the purpose is to educate parents about the law, and motivate them to take action based on what they discover. That's why I'm giving away gifts to each family that are worth $1,500.

If you don't have anything in place, like a will or a trust, or even if you do and you're not sure that it adequately protects your family, you don't want to miss this!

Details: The workshop will be held Saturday, November 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Zenana Spa.

Call (503) 235-5150 or email Paula@CandiceAistonLaw.com to register! I only have room for 10 families to attend!

To your family's health & prosperity,

Signature

P.S. After this workshop, you will know exactly what you need in an estate plan as a parent, and you'll have the tools to make it all happen! Call (503) 235-5150 or email Paula@CandiceAistonLaw.com to register!

Do you know what your child's school uses to clean? Is it safe? Is it green?

October 05, 2009

Our 3 year old just started preschool, and although it's only been 2 weeks since we started, we have already learned so much (and not just how to stack blocks and paint with water color)!

The other day, we had a parent meeting where we found out about government requirements for disinfecting in the classroom. Especially right now, with the H1N1 scare, all disinfecting products used at schools must be EPA certified as a pesticide. Needless to say, virtually all these products are toxic not only to germs, but to humans too, causing skin, eye and lung irritation or worse, and must carry warning labels. They also have very specific instructions for how they can be used around children who might mouth surfaces sprayed with these products.

For example, the Clorox® website states, "Q. Is it acceptable to use Clorox® Disinfecting wipes on children's toys and highchairs?
A. Yes, provided the high chair tray that may come in contact with food and toys that may be mouthed by children are rinsed thoroughly with water after wiping."

I am surely not the only one who thinks it seems completely contradictory that in order to keep our children "safe," we have to spray pesticides all around them! Yuck! No, that does not seem safe at all. And even with a water rinse, exactly how "thoroughly" is "thoroughly" anyway?

I decided to do some research on the issue and find a safer alternative to be used at my daughter's Preschool, and came up
with PureGreen24-- the FIRST and ONLY truly green, non-toxic, EPA-certified disinfectant on the market!

I am excited to be able to bring this product to my child's Preschool and want to offer it to your child's school or your office or sports team as well. Please go here to read more about PureGreen24, and you can shop here for PureGreen24 products. Please note the case quantity discounts!

Restoring sexual energy after childbirth?

September 25, 2009

Hello,

I'm Gerri Ravyn Stanfield, a local Portland acupuncturist, www.forestspringacupuncture.com and I have been seeing a huge increase in the number of amazing moms with young children who are wanting their sex drives back!  I'm curious about whether these trends are just happening in my practice or if they are actually happening more often in the community.  A few years ago, I was working with increasing fertility for a lot of women who wanted to get pregnant.  Now, it seems that many of these folks are happily raising their kids, finding themselves incredibly busy and seeking to have active sex lives again.  How widespread is this?  I would welcome feedback from any Portland mamas out there who have something to say about this.  If you are interested in telling me experience, you can email me at forestspringacupx@yahoo.com.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks so much!

Pregnancy-Related Low Back Pain Study

August 26, 2009

Researchers at OHSU are comparing three drugless interventions for pregnant women whose low back pain started during pregnancy: exercise, spinal manipulation, and a mind-body therapy called neuroemotional technique. If your are healthy, pregnant with just one baby, and your low back pain wasn't caused by an accident, you may be eligible to participate.

You can join at any time in your pregnancy and then continue until you have your baby. Study visits happen about as frequently as your prenatal care schedule. You will receive $20 for each study visit you attend.

When you come to a study visit you will complete some paperwork, we will evaluate your heartbeat, and we will do a physical exam to find out about your pain. Then you will be randomized to one of the three interventions and receive the treatment. After the treatment we will evaluate your heartbeat again. The first visit takes about 1.5 - 2 hours and the other visits take about 30-45 minutes. You will also complete a one hour interview on your growing up experiences and feelings about your baby.

If you would like more information call Caroline Peterson, DC, PhD, MPH, CPM at 503-367-1172.

Fun activity for mamas and babies!

March 02, 2008

Hi! I'm a research assistant and thesis student at Reed College. I'm looking for moms and babies of about a year old to participate in my study on how people demonstrate objects to each other. Participating entails a one-time visit to our playroom in SE Portland, where you'd sit at a table with your baby and show him/her some new toys. We videotape the interaction and analyze it later to learn more about how babies learn. You get a free cute baby t-shirt for participating and it's a huge help for my study and infant research in general- there's a chance you could be part of published research on infant's cognitive development!

If this sounds interesting to you, give our lab a call at 503-517-7440 or e-mail us at ReedCDP@gmail.com and we'd be happy to answer any questions you have about our research.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the sun!
