New Coffee Shop Opening in Kenton

A new family-friendly coffee shop will be opening in January 2009 in downtown Kenton on North Denver Avenue!  Posies Cafe will offer a vibrant community gathering space for individuals and families alike, offering a playroom for little ones, and ample space for everyone to spread out and relax with a nice warm cup of coffee (or our specialty hot chocolate - think chocolate with Allspice!)

We will begin the build-out of the shop in late November/early December, and are scheduled to open January 20, 2009.  Owned by Kenton resident (and fellow urbanMama), Jessie Burke, Posies hopes to provide a much needed space in Kenton for families to spend the long winter months. 

Keep your eyes peeled for the changes that take place on Denver, from Posies in January, the the new library going in two doors down in June!

Tandem Coffeehouse

Hi there,
I am the new owner of a small, mama owned, coffee shop in SE Portland, Tandem Coffeehouse. As a long time reader of urbanmamas, I thought it would be a fantastic place to let people know about our shop. We are very family friendly with a kids play area, family friendly local art and a growing menu of house made treats as well as sandwiches and soup. We serve Stumptown coffee and Dragonfly chai and try to use local products and vendors whenever possible. We will be having a story time once or twice week, and our play area is a great place for mama/ baby groups to meet. We are open from 7am-4pm weekdays and 8am-4pm weekends. Oregon College Savings Plan Month

Apparently, Oregon has designated the month of March as college savings month. And anyone who opens a new account directly with the Oregon College Savings Plan in March is automatically entered to win a $4,000 scholarship!

Entering is easy:
1.  Anyone who opens a new account directly with the Oregon College Savings Plan account in March is automatically entered; or

2.  Send a letter to the State Treasurer's office requesting entry into the contest.

Every week in March 2008, a winner will be picked from the eligible entries. The week will extend from Saturday, March 1, through the following Friday, March 7, the next week will begin on Saturday, March 8. This will continue throughout the month of March. Everyone is eligible to participate.
