Looking for Moms Who Sew...

November 07, 2011

I'm doing research for my business plan (I'm also a mom of three so this isn't corporate or anything.)

Can you sew relatively well? If you could earn extra money sewing at home would that be interesting to you? What if you could sew as much or as little as you wanted? What if you could sew whenever you wanted to? How much would you expect to make for your work? Do you know other sewing moms?

Thanks. I'm so appreciative for your feedback.

Sincerely,
Claire K.

Holidays with Essential Oils

December 01, 2010

During this time of year, with the holidays coming and the weather cooling off, it is always nice to have a few ways to relive stress and settle into a warm cup of tea.  Staying healthy during this time is always important, keeping ourselves grounded and content helps our immune system stay strong.
At next weeks free essential oil class we will be talking about using oils this holiday season to help relax and relive stress and using oil to fend off cold/flus.
When using oils therapeutically, especially internally, purity and quality is of utmost importance. We will dispel some common aromatherapy myths and misunderstandings allowing you to make educated choices when sourcing pure oils and using them to protect and support your health!
I hope to see you next week for our oil class.

100% Reclaimed wood furniture for kids

October 25, 2010

These new tables and chairs are made from clear vertical grain fir pulled from a 130 year old barn in French Glen, Oregon.

Summer-fall-2010-240

The table and chairs are bordered with beautiful redwood reclaimed from a 60 year old wheelchair ramp in LaGrande. There’s a lot of history in these little guys and zero impact on the environment.

Summer-fall-2010-280

The barn is a piece of Oregon’s history and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The barn is named, The Pete French Round Barn, after the cattle king, Pete French.  It is where he trained an estimated 300 to 1,000 horses in the winter months each year.

I gained these materials while working on a restorative project on the barn over this last summer.  So, with these special pieces your children and family will be able to create your own history atop an interesting piece of our state’s history.

Summer-fall-2010-234

I have also included some photos of some neat inlay ribbon storage boxes, that can double as sitting stools, that I recently created.  These boxes are made from pine, mahogany, cvg and redwood.

Toy sharing

October 02, 2010

I wonder if there is a toy library in town or if there are folks interested in sharing toys. The toys at home get lots of good use and are well cared for and I am wanting to find some new toys (new to us..) for him to enjoy as he grows. I am tempted to buy more but I imagine there are plenty of toys floating around out there among us already. If we were to pool our resources and come up with a way to do it (maybe a swap of a few toys for a couple of weeks for example ...) I bet we could keep our kids with a replenished "toy box" without having to buy buy buy all the time.

Our son is 2.5 and we especially like toys that inspire imagination and are battery free.
