Looking for ecofriendly infant seat

Hello Urban Mamas!

I am looking for an ecofriendly infant seat, one that does not say that it was inspected by the California bureau of home furnishings (the bureau sprays fabrics with fire retardant chemicals).

Does anyone have ideas? I would just love an environmentally safe seat that my baby could have fun sitting in while I play, read and sing with her.

Thanks!

Million Baby Crawl

Go to http://www.seventhgeneration.com/million-baby-crawl/ to create your own virtual baby and join Seventh Generation and millions of babies nationwide in a campaign to reform the 33 year old Toxic Chemical Substances Act.  Invite other people to support your crawler and you could win a trip to 4 to D.C.

Did you know that current law does not regulate chemicals in cleaning products? And companies are not even required to list all ingredients on the label?  Many of these ingredients are toxic.  Please support the campaign and say "no" to toxins!

Watch for events around Portland where you can learn more about this campaign and get free samples and coupons of Seventh Generation products.  Seventh Generation diapers, laundry detergents and dish soap are chlorine free and phosphate free, safe for you and your home!

And mark your calendars for the Million Baby Crawl at Washington Square Mall on November 18th, a fun, family-friendly event!

Flu vaccine for 6 month old?

My son will turn 6 months old in 3 weeks, which will make him eligible for the seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccines, but our pediatrician's office has run out. They referred us to pharmacy clinics, but those appear to only provide vaccines to ages 2 and up. Can anyone tell me where to take him?

Does anyone know anything about homeschooling?

Hi, I have a seven year old daughter who has attended kindergarten and first grade. I am keeping her home and home schooling her currently because I am trying to protect her from getting H1N1 until the vaccine is available. But I noticed a huge change in her!!! The snottiness she picked up last year and the year before is fading away. So I am seriously considering this option of home schooling, but I would like more info. before I make up my mind. Thanks, Sheila sheilaalbin71@gmail.com

Comic Art & Drawing Classes for Kids

Hi Parents.

My name is Nicole and I am a published comic artist and professional illustrator based in North Portland.

I am currently accepting new students for individual and pair tutoring/classes in Drawing and/or Comic Arts.

My goal is to help your child find his/her unique voice.

We will work with your child's strengths to boost self esteem and refine their style and skills.

In Comic Arts We will  aim at making our own comic books to share with friends and family.  We will work with designing characters and writing stories that engage the reader and promote literacy for your child.

In Drawing Class we will learn about drawing our fellow humans, animals, nature,  and those pesky inanimate objects in the background.

My rate is $20/hr , and I am open to teaching students one or two at a time.

I can travel to homes in North/Northeast Portland

or can set up space for us at the IPRC in downtown Portland.

All we need is a table, some tools, and time to get our comic minds going!

Available after school and on weekends.

Please email for more information.
