Looking for good quality futon or platform type bed

We just moved and would love to find a really good quality futon (like a stylish, more contemporary one), or a platform bed.  We do not have much room in our bedroom, so simple is good!  The mattress just needs to be really comfortable :)  So, if you think you have something we might be interested in, please let me know!  I loved the idea of this one, but it was already gone when I called :(

Medication Free Treatments for ADD/ADHD Group

Hello Mama's

Do you have or work with a child with ADD/ADHD or want to know more about ADD/ADHD.

I am a local Parent Coach and I specialize in medication free treatment for ADD/ADHD symptoms.  ADD/ADHD is not a disease to be cured with medication, but a different way the brain receives, interprets and processes information.  Because of this, medication alone will not help children with ADD/ADHD overcome their symptoms.  Children with ADD/ADHD need to learn how to use their symptoms to benefit them instead of fight with their symptoms.

When I was a Nanny, I worked with a family who had children with ADD/ADHD.  The oldest was put on medication when first diagnosed and suffered from horrible side effects.  We decided to try medication free techniques to manage the ADD/ADHD symptoms, and found that alternative treatments worked best for her.  After working with this family, seeing first hand how ADD/ADHD affects each member of the household and medication side effects can cause more harm than good, I decided to research ADD/ADHD further.  I’ve learned a lot about ADD/ADHD, which I want to share with other parents and caregivers.

To help families, I’ve created a form on Yahoo, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/everythingbabyllc/ I’d like this group to be an idea’s board for parents and caregivers.  Over the years, I’ve learned more from talking with parents and caregivers than from any book I’ve read or class I’ve attended.

I hope you take a moment & review this group.  Please post your stories & ideas.

Teething Troubles Got You Down? Try Amber!!

Hello Urban Mamas!

Has your baby got the teething blues? Are you looking for a safe, drug free alternative to ease your little one's pain? Then I suggest you try Baltic Amber!

What is Amber and Why Amber for Teething?

Amber beads are fossils from an ancient forest which existed tens of millions of years ago. Amber is not a stone, but fossilized tree resin. When amber is worn against the skin, your skin's warmth releases tiny amounts of healing oils from the amber which are then absorbed into the bloodstream. This offers a natural, drug-free, pain relief. Amber is also recognized for its anti-inflammatory properties and benefits to the skin (helps diaper rash too!).

These amber teething necklaces are made to wear, not to chew!

Only natural 100% authentic Baltic Amber, made from fossilized tree resin that is not heated, pressed or reconstituted, is used to make my Amber teething necklaces. Pressed and heated amber reduces its healing properties.

I use only the highest quality amber which gives a natural, beautiful look. Each Amber bead is individually knotted and the necklace fastens with a screw clasp. The clasp is made of plastic and the screw will break away with pressure. Wearing the necklace, NOT chewing on the necklace is what provides pain relief.

Childrens Sizes:

Children’s necklaces are available in 2 sizes: 13”, the most standard and common size, or 15” for older children (currently only available by special order).

Because it is a pain reliever, it can also be beneficial when you child isn’t teething, but having other discomforts such as ear aches or other pains, and is even said to be helpful for diaper rashes.

Necklaces are currently available in 4 styles:

· Cognac (Slightly more orange)

· Honey (Slightly more yellow)

· 4 Stone

· Cherry (Dark red, almost black)

Each necklace is $20.00. If you are interested or would like more info, please contact me at: info@mybellababyboutique.com

House cleaning services - NW

Does anyone have some recommendations on house cleaning services for the NW area of Portland? I'd love to have someone who's relatively inexpensive, but is reliable and trustworthy (bonded and insured would be great). I'm looking for bi-weekly cleanings.

Thanks!

Seeking Toddler Swim Lessons at my Home

I am interested in finding private swimming lessons for my three year-old daughter.  We have a pool in our apartment complex and it would be great to have someone who can come to us.  If you are interested, or have any ideas on where I should be looking, please email me at megcrutch@gmail.com. Thanks!

Focus groups for families living with food allergies, sensitivities, and celiac disease

The company I work for, Aisle7 (formerly Healthnotes), is developing products and services to help make healthy living, meal planning and enjoying food a little easier for those on a restricted diet due to food allergies, sensitivities or celiac disease. And we'd love your help! We're conducing consumer research so that we can identify and discuss potential product and service features that will be most impactful in your life.

If you or someone living in your home has a food allergy, food sensitivity/intolerance or celiac disease and are over the age of 18, we'd like to meet with you next week.

We're scheduling focus group research meetings for next week (7/27 - 7/29). When you respond, please indicate your preference to attend:

Monday July 27 6pm
Tuesday July 28 noon
Wednesday July 29 6pm

Meetings will go no longer than 90 minutes and we'll have goodie bags in exchange for your time and would greatly appreciate your insights and thoughts as a fellow food allergy sufferer. Feel free to bring a sack meal for yourself. To be sensitive to those with allergies, we won't have food on hand but will have water and a soda machine.

Location: 215 NW Park Ave Portland (in the Pearl on Park Ave between Davis and Everett).

Please email to Gina.Rau [at] aisle7.net with your name, date/time preference from above and a brief overview of your food restriction. Thank you very much!
