Business Opportunity: Hoot-n-Annie for SALE

Hoot-n-Annie, Exceptional Children's Resale and Locally Handmade Clothing and Gifts is for sale!

Hoot-n-Annie is a truly fantastic children's resale store with a strong and loyal customer base.  My business partner's personal situation has changed, requiring her to move out of state.

We will provide basic information via email; we are requesting a face-to-face meeting for serious inquiries.  We have very thorough sales records, customer counts, expenses, business statistics and analytics, etc. Website, name and logo, full training and ongoing consultation is included.  The busiest season of the year begins in August and runs through December - now is the perfect time to take over. Hoot-n-Annie continues to show excellent growth and is in a great position for you to add your new energy and keep sales surging upward. Community word of mouth is excellent and we have many customer testimonials to share.

This is a great opportunity for a family or a group who wish to form a partnership or co-op. If interested, send me an email; I'll reply promptly.

Owner is unable to carry contract. Will consider a new partnership with an absolutely perfect fit person.   Email: tracyaltman@gmail.com for more information

Job Op: Portland Mom Blog, site manager

While I was conducting a search of Portland Moms I stumbled across your blog. I work for Gannett, Inc. (most commonly known as the parent company of USA Today) and we’re looking to launch a Mom site in Portland. I’m currently looking for someone to be a freelance site manager for the site and was wondering if you could help me in my search?  Do you know of anyone who might be looking for a freelance, work from home kind of gig centered on helping us manage a Mom’s Social Networking Site – would any of you be interested in the position?  I thank you in advance for any help you can give me with this… I know how valuable mom time is!

Diaper Donation

I'm looking for a place in Portland to donate the leftover disposable diapers that my daughter has outgrown.  We have some newborn, size 1, and size 1-2.   I don't want to throw them away and would love to donate them.  Does anyone know of someplace that accepts disposable diapers for donation?
Thanks,
Elise

We need a rental in Buckman area this summer! Ideas? Longterm or short term...

I hope I've posted this is the right place!

We are moving back to our beloved Portland this summer, after living in Bend, Oregon for a few years.  Our hearts are set on Buckman elementary.

We need a short term solution & ultimately a long term rental to get us into the school until we're ready to purchase in the area (another year or two).  We're not opposed to living in a house that's on the market.  It would allow us time to find a long term rental too.  Potentially a win-win if your house is empty!

We are: environmentally & socially conscientious, financially secure, kind and compassionate, great communicators.  Two grown ups and 3 little girl chickadees- ages, 4, 5 and 8.  Very respectful tenants.  Easy going kids.  We bring good energy! Our well behaved kitties bring their own great references and pet deposit.

We need: a minimum of 2 bedrooms, cat friendly environs, under $1500 a month ideally (negotiable).  We prefer hardwoods, no harsh remodeling chemicals, and a smiling garden spot! Late July into August is our window for moving.

Anyone have a lead, network connection, idea or two?

Many thanks from our blossoming family to yours~

Adoption in the Movies resource & discussion guide

Movie_booklet1 A good friend of mine is the ED of this local non-profit called Adoption Mosaic.  They have just released their guide to "Adoption in the Movies," which they describe like this:

Our Adoption in the Movies booklet takes the reader on a guided tour of 27 important adoption themed movies and documentaries. Besides a plot description, we’ve also included insightful points that pertain to the movie subject and questions to get your discussion going. Our Adoption in the Movies Booklet is available to purchase for $9.75.

For several years we’ve held movie nights for adults who were adopted. We also have times when adoptees can “bring a guest.” What we’ve witnessed has been inspiring. Through watching these films, we’re able to learn from one another, build community, and contribute to enhancing the lives of those who have been influenced by adoption.

We hope that this booklet will be a way for you, your family, and your friends to participate in and extend this dialogue.

Get your copy and learn more about Adoption Mosaic and its movie nights here.

Join the Third Annual Low-Car Diet Challenge

The Low Car Diet Challenge is a fun way for people to try out getting around in the Portland area without a personal car.  We are limiting enrollment to 30 participants this year. The Low Car Diet is brought to you by the following partners: Zipcar, City of Portland Office of Transportation, Bike Gallery, TriMet, Amtrak Cascades, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Oregon Department of Transportation, Multnomah County Health, New Seasons Market and Metro.

This year we are asking participants to give up their keys for one month from July 21st to August 15th 2008.  In turn, Low-Car Diet participants will receive several incentives to help them along their way including: a transit pass during the month; a gift certificate to the Bike Gallery; Zipcar membership with a $100 Zipcar driving credit; free home delivery from New Seasons; and several more resources from our partners.

Want to participate in this year’s Low Car Diet? Apply at www.zipcar.com/lowcardiet/join. This year’s enrollment will go very fast, so don’t dillydally or it will be too late!

Postpartum Chiropractic Care on NE Broadway

Postpartum chiropractic care on NE Broadway. I just had a baby about a month ago and my body was wrecked from the pregnancy and labor. My body continues to have aches and pains from holding my new baby, etc. I went to Flores Chiropractic at 2916 NE Broadway and I am finally starting to feel normal again! I am finally getting back to normal and feel I am able to start exercising again without pain. It is great. Plus Dr. Flores is really nice, laid-back, down to earth guy who really seems to care. Check him out – Dr. Noe Flores, 2916 NE Broadway, Suite B, 971-255-1922; drnoeflores@gmail.com. He just opened not too long ago, so his sign is not up yet. His office is behind the DocuMart not too far from Fred Meyer on Broadway. My kinks are getting worked out - Lynn

Post-natal fitness group- FREE bootcamp

Hi all-

I just had my 2nd child a few weeks ago and am looking forward to getting back into shape.  After the birth of my first child, I led a group of other mamas in a exercise group similar to the baby bootcamps held here and in other cities.  I thought, why pay for a class when all I really wanted was a group to help keep me motivated? It worked really well, and was a lot of fun, so I'd like to do it again.

I will be organizing a low-impact walking/calesthenics, 1 hour outdoor exercise routine in Inner NE Portland that can be done with your baby in a stroller.  So- if you have a pre-crawling baby and would like to get together with a group a few days a week to help lose the baby weight, I'd love to hear from you.  wubledoo@yahoo.com

Best,
Robin

La Lu Baby Etsy Store is OPEN!

I am very happy to announce that my little clothing line La Lu Baby is open for business!  Like most mamapreneurs, I caught the creative bug after the birth of my daughter three years ago.  Once I started sewing, slowly La Lu Baby was born.  Your local support and kind words made me decided to open a cute little Etsy store to sell my duds.  If you are not familiar with Etsy already, please check it out; there are some truly amazing artists out there to support.  Features like "Shop Local" make etsy a great tool to find locally crafted items.

Thanks for reading...
