On June 8th, we are celebrating our successful Walk + Bike to School Challenge Month participants, and we need your help! Challenge Month is a city-wide event that challenges over 4,000 elementary students to walk or bike to school more than PSU students during the month of May. Some of our schools have as many as a third of students walking or biking every day. Peer Pressure is Working: Over 10% of the students are first-time walkers or bikers. Many parents have bought trailers and tandems after their kids begged them to ride to school. One North Portland dad, who biked his 2.5 mile commute for the first time said “It only takes me 3 minutes longer to bike.”
Sunday June 8th, 10AM to 1PM in the PSU Park Blocks we’re partying. Here’s the lineup:
-Chain Reaction (Portland’s all-male bike dance troupe)
-Greasy Chain String Band squaredance
-Magpie Messenger Collective holds an “Alley Kitten”
-Raffle Prizes
-Way More Fun
Shifts are between 1 and 5 hours! Just volunteer- you’ll love it! Do it for the children- Contact Lillian@bta4bikes.org Now. We’re going to have all the fun- don’t be left out! Check out how you can help.
