Experienced, Loving Provider Seeking Family!

January 30, 2012

Experienced childcare provider looking for a family to work with. I recently finished a short-term position in SE Portland and would love to find a part or full-time position. I have multiple years of experience (total of 10 years childcare experience) working with children ages 0-8. Great families for you to contact that can attest to my ability to be on-time and engaging with children of any age.

I am well-versed in Montessori learning style as well as a bit of knowledge in attachment parenting. Comfortable with cloth diapers (assisting with diaper laundry and children's laundry as well) and feeding expressed milk as well. I'm flexible, easy-going and a great communicator. I am happy to provide a daily rundown of what we did, etc.

I'm cpr/first aid certified, have taken the RRCAN class, am in the process of completing my food handlers certification, and am enrolled in Oregon Criminal History Registry # (for working in a childcare center). Previously background checked through DHS for 3 years, open to having background check run as well as having two through reputable childcare sites (sittercity.com and care.com). Non-smoker, valid license/insurance and reliable vehicle for transportation (Plymoth Neon, seats 5 total).

Engaging and active; I do multiple activities with children from sensory play (shaving cream, paint, play dough, etc.) to arts and crafts with older children. Familiar with assisting in school-aged learning, assisting with writing/reading, spelling, abc's, 123's, colors, shapes, etc. Primary focus working with children ages 0-6.

I can and will take your children on outings if you would like, am able to assist with errand running/shopping if necessary as well as light household chores (dishes unloaded or loaded, light sweeping, child laundry/room cleanup, etc.). I love going to the park even if it's wet, and love to puddle jump!

Available for any weekly schedule, weekends as well.

If you're interested, please feel free to email me with all pertinent information such as: your care needs (frequency, total hours, daily schedule if varied), a bit about your family/children (names/ages/a bit about them) and what you are expecting to pay.

My hourly rate for locations within 15 miles of my home is $11.50 per hour, for 1-2 children. I base my price on your needs, family size, as well as location and am slightly flexible with families that can provide me with stability as I can for them. :)

For inquiry/interest please email educatoralicia@gmail.com or call (971)-217-8414. If I do not answer please leave a message; I usually do not return calls without one, since I am not aware of who was trying to reach me or if it was a wrong number. :)

Thanks!

Fun, Creative Nanny for the New Year!

December 20, 2011

I am a Nanny that will be available in early January. I have letters of recommendation upon request and a resume as well. I have years of experience with children from my background being a counselor and a jr. counselor at YMCA day camp and week-long camps. I was a first year mentor at my university in Ashland, where I mentored and provided resources to first year college students. I was also an advocate at the SOU Queer Resource Center.  I have been trained in first aid, I have my food handlers card, and a valid OR drivers license.

My experience doesnt stop there as I have experiences watching and caring for my good friends' children. I have baby sat infants to teenagers and I know how to balance what children need with what they want. I am extremely trustworthy and a very loyal person, especially to the families I work for. Once I have sat for a family they want to keep me for years.

I can cook light, healthy, and especially balanced meals. I can make snacks and have arts and crafts time and even mix play time and learning time together! Learning and laughing I find are often one in the same.

I can guarantee you will be satisfied with my energy towards children. Baby sitting in Ashland, OR, taught me so much about patience and sending a child on their own journey through the world. I try to teach your child self love and self esteem building among many other things.

I am going to school for Anthropology (cultural) and Art currently. I have experience being an English tutor and Math tutor as well as knowing basic French and I am learning ASL. Along with my academic accomplishments I am skilled in housekeeping, cooking, hair styling/cutting/dying, makeup design, photography, and music. When I graduate with my degree in Anthropology I plan on traveling and studying the dynamics of families in all cultures. The relationships between families, lovers, and children is what interests me the most. How people balance their lives to raise a child and teach it all about life from their perspectives.

I am available as soon as Friday December 6th, 2012.

When contacted I can email my resume and provide signed letters of recommendation in person. My name is Cassandra and I look forward to meeting you and your family!

NE Nanny/Sitter available PT/FT through January

November 05, 2011

Hello!

I'm a 27-year-old experienced Nanny, seeking PT/FT and babysitting opportunities in NE Portland through the end of the year. I've lived in Portland for 3 years, working primarily as a Community Mentor for developmentally disabled adults, while volunteering with the Y.W.C.A. as a Learnlinks tutor for refugee children. I've had the chance to work with a diversity of kids in Portland, from Boise-Eliot SUN School to an after school program at Cathedral Catholic school in NW. I also have experience working with children with autism. I'm originally from Minnesota, and graduated with a degree in Mass Communications and English at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I love kids, art projects, the outdoors, cooking, gardening, reading and languages. I'm looking for the right family to create and connect with, and if we're a good match I can start immediately. Email me at jsodomka@gmail.com. Thanks!

Fun & Experienced Part-Time Nanny!

August 19, 2011

Hi! I'm a graduate student looking to nanny for a fun, loving, and wonderful family! I'm very personable, friendly and supportive, and am happy to work with children of any age.

I have a B.S. in Education and have experience directing teen leadership programs, teaching outdoor education and have facilitated/tutored at cooperative learning programs at the elementary school level throughout my undergrad. I love being active and would love to take the kids to do fun things around Portland, but am also content with creating our own adventures at home.

I have great references and am available mornings and most afternoons (my school schedule is pretty flexible - let me know what works for you and we can figure something out!). I'm looking to nanny between 10-20 hours/week.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Nanny Seeking Full Time Work - 14 yrs Experience Excellent References

July 12, 2011

Nanny

My Name Is Alexaraye. I am currently seeking a full time or part time nanny position. I have 12 years experience with children from Infants - 12 yrs old in age, as well as with multiples. I am ideally looking for a long term commitment with the new family I am seeking. I have excellent references, I am willing to do a background check, and I have reliable transportation.

I have written a little background on myself as well:

I have extensive experience in childcare for ages infant -12 years of age. I was the oldest of four, at the age of 10 my oldest brother was born, and then my two other siblings to follow over the next years. I was most defiantly mother’s helper! Thereafter, I was the assistant nursery director for St. Cecilia’s Church for four years. Building a program from only the occasional 7 children and parent volunteers attending, to then two years later building a program that reached max capacity every Sunday with 200+ children attending and twenty five consistent parent volunteers, and three summer programs. In college, I have been a part time nanny for many families in our neighborhood, and through our church, and family friends. Over the last two years I have worked for a family in the Portland area watching their two little ones that are now 4 and 6 years old. I also, studied child psychology in college as well. I have many references upon request.

I absolutely love my job! I enjoy doing arts and crafts, play dates, and enjoying nature. I am not a big TV fan. I am very big on using extra educational resources for children; they love it and I love the way there minds are so eager to explore!  I am consistent, hard working, and timely, I like to keep things clean and organized as well, while implementing these lessons on a daily basis with your children as they grow. Open communication is key to me as well within the home between the parents and myself.

Laughing and having fun will be a regular occurrence :) I promise to be an attribute to your family.

I usually make a daily routine, after getting to know the children, therefore they feel safe and secure in a consistent environment, which is key! I look forward to hearing from you, and possibly becoming a part of your family’s lives.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Nanny Would Love to Work for Your Family This Summer

May 18, 2011

Dear Urban Mamas and Papas,

My name is Hannah Rapp and I am looking to be a part-time nanny (3 days a week, although scheduling can be adjusted) this summer. I just returned home to NE Portland after finishing my second year of college in Southern California where I study Anthropology and Latin American Studies. I love to be outdoors, and would plan on taking your children to parks, bike rides (depending on age), playing in the backyard, etc. But since I know Portland’s weather can be a little wacky sometimes, with rain in July! I also have many indoor activities planned, such as painting, making music, reading, and other games that will challenge your children's imagination. I want to make this summer, with your children, one that will expand their knowledge and provide them with more tools for the future.

I have been in childcare since I was 14 watching children ranging from infant age to as old as 12 and have multiple references that I can connect you with. I am Red Cross certified and have taken care of kids with severe medical allergies. I also have experience tutoring children from 1st to 8th grade in math and writing.

I am a very lighthearted and an outgoing person who loves children and has spent my entire life around them. I am highly responsible and reliable and caring. Please let me know if I can be of any help to you and your family this summer.

My email is Hannah.Rapp@scrippscollege.edu if you would like a copy of my resume and the contact information for my references. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Hannah Rapp

Awesome Nanny/Sitter Available!!!!!

December 29, 2010

Awesome Nanny/Sitter Available!!!!

I am 26 years old and have been a full-time nanny for the last 6 years, and have been babysitting for more than 13 years. I have experience with children ages 4 mo. to 10 years old. I also have experience volunteering in a daycare for homeless families, tutoring pre-schoolers with Junior Kumon, and working with at-risk teenagers in Oregon Youth Conservation Core. I have been a volunteer at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Pediatric Acute Care and the Hematology-Oncology Clinic for the past year.

I have a tight-knit network of moms and nannies that I regularly arrange play dates with, and I am very familiar with library story times, baby gyms, indoor gyms, kid-friendly cafes, Music Together, etc. I love outings to OMSI, Children's Museum, Oregon Zoo, Children's Healing Art Project as well as kid-friendly hikes at Laurelhurst Park and Forest Park. Outings have also included day-trips to State Parks, as well as tide-pool exploration at the beach! I have a strong background in Drawing and Photography and I love doing LOTS of art projects... I speak Korean, a little bit of Spanish, and have experience with baby sign-language.

My style is adaptive towards each child, because each child has his/her own special interests, personality and talents. I like to encourage spending as much time outdoors as possible, hone creative abilities as well as kids' imaginations, and try to laugh as much as humanly possible :)

My educational experience includes courses in Family Studies, Child Psychology, Human Development and Teaching in International Schools. I have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Black Studies. I am currently applying for nursing programs.

I have an Oregon driver's license and my own vehicle. I am CPR/First Aid certified, including infant CPR, and have my Oregon CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) license.

Right now, I am working as a caregiver for a quadriplegic man in the mornings, and am looking for some supplemental work while I apply for nursing programs. I usually work in the mornings until 12:30pm at the latest, with availability in the afternoons, evenings and weekends. I am open to a regular schedule, as well as tutoring and babysitting. I charge $12/hr, but my rate is flexible and also depends on the number of children.

If you are interested, please contact me for full resume and a list of excellent references. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!!!

USAuPair - An Oregon Au Pair Agency!

August 27, 2010

Have you considered an au pair for your child care needs?   USAuPair is located in Lake Oswego, Oregon.  We place au pairs with families in the Portland metro area.  Au pairs are young adults from foreign countries who arrive on a 12-month J1 au pair visa.  They live with their host families and provide up to to 45 hours of child care weekly (up to 10 hours daily).

The average expense is less than $320 weekly (per family, not per child), including weekly wage for au pair.  Au pairs arrive with medical insurance.  They have background checks, personal interviews with one of our foreign reps, English exam to measure their language level, psychometric exam that evaluates attitudes in caring for children, verified child care references from non-relatives, medical report and more.

Before an au pair arrives to your family, he or she attends a Portland workshop (32-hours) on child/infant safety and development.  At the end of the workshop, host families may pick up their au pairs at a local hotel.

If you are interested, please give our office a call.  You can also visit the au pair gallery on our web site.  It profiles a few of the applicants available for placement.  Local families have used our service for years.

USAuPair, au pairs and a host family were recently profiled in the Portland Business Journal, Hollywood Star News and Oregonian.

Not sure about the program?  Join our Host Family Conference Day in September.  Meet USAuPair staff, host families and their au pairs.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Toddler, preschool, homeschool, before/ aftercare and date night space!

August 23, 2010

Urban Roots Playschool is a new in-home, child-centered playschool in the Montavilla neighborhood, easily accessible via Trimet and freeway from both NE and SE Portland, as well as Vancouver and the West Side. We offer a variety of services for children ages 1-12, and their families, focused on the child as an individual. Our loosely structured, rhythm-based flexible curriculum focuses on growing and cooking food, creating art, active play and becoming responsible citizens of our children's "tribe". Though we are most influenced by Waldorf and Montessori philosophies, our community definitely has the personality of both the teachers and the "students".

Our "playschool" has 2 age groups: ages 1-4 (preschool), and 5-10 (homeschool). Each group is held Monday-Thursday 9-2, or 12-5 (overlap for lunch and freeplay). Early and late starts are both available. Both groups will engage in individual and group projects that "teach" math, science, literacy, art, music, language, and physical education, with long, gentle transitions and overlap between activities, creating a relaxing and fun atmosphere free of pressure to "perform". Meals and snacks are generally vegetarian, organic and gluten-free, and are usually made onsite (often by the children).

Friday is "playcare" day. There will be no "curriculum" but the general rhythm will be the same.

Before and afterschool care, transport from local schools, and weekend care offered as available.

"Playnights" are offered on Friday evenings, and consist of dinner, a "dance party", outdoor and indoor activities.

We are flexible on start and end times, as long as the children arrive during a "transition" time, so that no one is arriving or leaving without finishing a project, enjoying the fruits of their labor, or starting behind the other children. Make no mistake, this is our home, NOT a large center. However, we have the same (if not more) experience, expertise, love and commitment of a "traditional" school.

Our rates are as follows. We DO offer partial scholarships, sibling discounts, full-time discounts when possible, and also are willing to accept DHS or other supplemental pay.

1/2 day "school" program : $25 per day
full day 8-6 : $45 per day
hourly rates beginning at $6
date night 5-10:30 $25 per child (Add $15 for overnight up till 10am).

please check www.urbanrootsplayschool.com for more info, or call 503-683-2552

drop-in, summer, and school year care in child-centered community!

June 08, 2010

Do you need to work, shop, or just have some time to yourself? Are you worried that you will not be able to find (or afford) the kind of experienced, loving, and compassionate care that your child deserves? Are you tired of having to choose between expensive nannies or big impersonal centers?

Well, look no further! I am a mother of 3 with over 15 years of childcare experience outside of the home, as well CPR/ First Aid training, familiarity with naturopathic medicine, and both early childhood and elementary education training. I currently have spaces for both regular and drop-in care, as well as upcoming "date night" parties. My home feels like just that: a home. Your child will be welcomed into our family, where they will be nurtured and encouraged to explore, learn, and play at their own pace. We do cooking projects, art, music, and lots of outdoor activity, as well as reading, building with blocks and legos, and other imaginative play. Though not a certified "center", I do have a philosophy that combines the beliefs of Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia, with plenty of room for both loosely-structured learning and free exploration of art, music, science, language and social studies. Our family operates on the principles of unconditional parenting (U/P), attachment parenting, and NVC (non-violent communication). I will happily support cloth diapering, breastfeeding, babywearing, and can accomodate allergies and other family-specific practices.

I provide loosely-structured care as well as pre-school and kindergarten readiness, homeschool support, and other extracurricular and tutoring opportunities for infants through junior high.

For the summer, I have both full-time, and part-time available, as well as dropins. For fall there aare spaces available, schedule pending. My rate for children 3-12 is $25 for 1/2 day, $40 for full day. under 3 (not potty-trained) are $30 for 1/2 day and $50 for full day. Hourly rates, overnights, partial scholarships, and sibling discounts are possible as well. My goal is to provide the affordable, high-quality care I could not find for my own kids when I was deciding whether to return to a career outside the home. So, if you need help affording this, PLEASE ASK!!! :)

We are located in the Montavilla/ North Tabor neighborhood, easily accessible by Max, bus, and freeway from Vancouver, Outer SE and NE Portland, Hollywood, Belmont, Hawthorne, Alameda, and many other neighborhoods.

  • Knowledgeable in Spanish language (as well as other subjects if your family is in need of homework help)
  • I  am very caring, compassionate, and comfortable with attachment parenting, cloth diapering, and alternative family arrangements.
  • I do not drive, but I am very comfortable with public transportation, biking, walking, etc.
  • I would love to facilitate fun activities for your little ones this summer (visits to the pool and/or park, swim lessons, sports, crafts, reading, and more!)
  • My rates are flexible, but range between $10-$13 depending on your situation.

organic, montessori-influenced regular or dropin care available

April 21, 2010

I am a Stay-At-Home-Mama (SAHM) to 3 beautiful children, ranging in age from infant to elementary school, and I also have over 20 years of experience in childcare, education, and enrichment.  All of my experience has taught me many things, amongst them:

~there is more than one way to learn, and every child deserves the best way for THEM

~"learning" does NOT mean you have to have every second of every day PLANNED- you find opportunities in children's natural curiosity

~it really DOES take a village to raise a child, so consistency and collaboration are important - for parent AND child

~you don't have to be rich to deserve top-notch care for your child

If you agree with these things, and would like your child in a montessori and waldorf - influenced environment, where the child is king (or queen), nutritional and delicious foods (allergies considered, of course!) abound, and all parenting styles and religious or spiritual beliefs are respected, please feel free to contact me. Our family utilizes attachment parenting, connected (unconditional) parenting, and NVC (non-violent communication), and eats mostly organic foods. Gluten-free diet available as well!

I may be able to accept DHS payment too, just ask! I am flexible on hours, rates, and would be willing to watch the children in my home (on the North Side of Mount Tabor/ Montavilla, near 82nd and Burnside) or yours, depending on the hours and specifics. I do not currently drive, though my husband does, so pickup and dropoff may be possible, as well as overnights, tutoring, laundry, cleaning help, etc. I welcome your family into our tribe.
