Fun, Adventure- Loving, College-Educated, Silliness-Causing Nanny Available!

May 22, 2013

Hi there!
My name is Ashley. I am 26 years old and recently graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in Texas back in December. I am looking for a full-time position, at least 35 hours a week, or even occasional babysitting- I am available anytime! While I was in school, I was a nanny for three children (ages 2-5) and was an occasional babysitter for a 4 & 10 year old. I have excellent references that I can provide for you and I have been babysitting on and off since I was 14. I love kids! I'm really big into reading (I absolutely love Fancy Nancy, Harry Potter and Eloise!), making music, dancing,  eating healthy snacks, science experiments, going to parks, arts and crafts, adventure, imagination, silliness and sidewalk chalk. I like to create games and scavenger hunts. I am open to doing cleaning and meal preparation, and any other household chores that need to be done. I rely on public transportation so I will need a family close to the MAX or buslines. Please email me: where you found my posting, a little bit about your family, your rate, and your requirements at ashleyborck24@gmail.com if you would like to to meet to see if your family and I are a good match!124

Summer Playgroup Teacher/Leader

June 09, 2012

For the past several summers, a group of about five families in NE Portland have collaborated to form a summer playgroup. Our children are now heading into the second grade (6-7 years old). Yikes! We are looking for someone experienced facilitating small groups of children/leading structured activities. The format for the playgroup has been either Mon.-Thurs. or Mon.-Fri. from 10-3. We host at one of our houses and contribute money for the purchase of supplies. The day is generally structured around a daily science or art activity (or both), some free play, lunch, and an afternoon activity/field trip (usually accessible by foot or bus if you feel adventurous). Each family pays $5 per hour plus a materials fee-for up to five children. If fewer children attend for whatever reason-we will guarantee at least $20 an hour. Currently we are looking for someone who is available the following weeks:

July 16-20

July 23-27

July 30-Aug 3rd

There is a possibility of adding an additional week in August:

August 6th-10th or

August 27th-31st

Do not hesitate to respond even if you are not available for all of these dates. We are flexible. Thank you for taking the time to read. I'll look forward to talking with you soon. jessica_katz_1970@yahoo.com

Waldorf Nanny-Share Opening in Inner SE Portland

May 12, 2012

Hello Moms and Dads!

I am a certified Waldorf teacher, mom, and experienced nanny looking for a third child to join my small childcare group in inner SE Portland.  For the past year I have enjoyed caring for a one-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl, who would love to welcome a new playmate.

My childcare philosophy is informed by the principles of Waldorf education.  We have a strong routine including indoor and outdoor play, healthy rest and sleep routines, singing, artistic activities, and imitative housework.  I value natural toys that foster imagination.  I offer a media-free environment that offers a gentle warmth and comfort that allows young children to thrive.  I have experience with cloth diapering, breast and bottle-feeding, and natural parenting.

Our ideal match would be a child between the ages of one and four.  I am looking for part-time care, but we can be flexible depending upon the needs of the family.

I have extensive experience working with young children from birth to age seven and can provide references upon request.

Please contact me to see if we might be a proper fit for your child and childcare needs.

 Sincerely,

Becky

Looking for an affordable loving nanny?

May 07, 2012

Hello. I am a 25 year old mother, and part time student looking for a family in need of a part time nanny.  My family and I just moved, so I lost my job as a nanny, where I was caring for another child along with my own, within my own home. Now I’m looking for a part time child to care for outside the home, where I can potentially bring my own 2 year old daughter with me.

I am highly qualified to be your nanny. Before having my own daughter, I was employed at CCLC “Children’s creative learning center”, as a full time toddler teacher. Before that, I was employed at A Childs Kingdom working mainly with toddlers, and infants. I have worked part time in a few other licensed child care centers, and I’ve been employed as a nanny for two different families. Over all, I have nine years working with children and I love doing it.

I contain an abundant of skills including empathy, energy, communication, listening, playfulness, creativity, organization, multi-tasking etc.

If I sound like I could be a good fit for your childcare needs, please feel free to email me at:

itskatelin@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from you!

Eastside Family Co-op - A Parent-Run Toddler Community

March 20, 2012

Hi Parents,

Eastside Family Cooperative has multiple openings for children ages 18 mos to 2.5 years. We are specifically looking for children born in 2010, who would start with Co-op this Spring/Summer/Fall and stay on through Summer 2013.

We are a group of families who have come together to provide quality, part-time childcare for our children. For most of our children, Eastside Family Co-op is their first early school experience and serves as a pre-preschool.

Our children are aged 18 months to about 3½ years old (when most kids move on to more traditional preschools) in one large, mixed-age classroom. Children typically start between the ages of 18 months to 2 ½ years and stay for at least one year.

We are located in inner SE Portland and operate year-round on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families leave and join throughout the year.  Please note: We *will* be relocating in 2012 along with the expiration of our current lease, but expect to maintain a similar inner SE location.

Eastside Family Co-op is entirely parent-run. Each child attends three days from 9am to 1pm: two days "on her own" and one day with her "parent teacher."  (3-4 parents typically run Co-op on any given day.)  Tuition is currently $110/month.

We provide a network of support for parents and the chance for children to develop trusting relationships outside their immediate family. We value:

  • Each person's individuality
  • Peaceful conflict resolution
  • Collaborative decision-making
  • Daily opportunities for play, art, fresh air, music and reading
  • Fresh, organic, unprocessed foods

Eastside Family Cooperative is a non-profit corporation and a member of Parent-Child Preschools of Oregon.

For more information, please visit our web site, www.eastsidefamilycoop.org.  To apply, fill out the membership inquiry form online, and you will be contacted by someone on the Co-op Membership team.

Thanks - we're looking forward to meeting new interested families!

One opening at Eco-healthy Preschool in SE

January 20, 2012

LH_PrimaryLogo-Color-Print

Little Hands Garden School is an Eco-healthy preschool located on Hawthorne @59th on the edge of Mt. Tabor.  We are a home-based program with a ratio of 2:8.  Our hours are 9-1, M-Th.

Lunch and one to two snacks (mostly organic, always homemade) are
provided daily.  Our activities include a drama, song/music circle, reading,
snack, art, outdoor play (gardening or other), dance/yoga/games,
baking, lunch, story time, and more outdoor play.  We also do field
trips on Mt. Tabor and to neighborhood parks.  We are outside all day
when the weather permits.

Our current plays are 3 Little Pigs, Billy Goats Gruff, and Abiyoyo.  You can view these on our you tube channel LHGardenSchool, or use the link below:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8A06DF8CDB30DB6D

We believe all curriculum needs to be inquiry-based, and
is modeled upon the interests of our students.  Our schedule
changes daily as we sometimes get so involved in our projects we
forget the time...... which is kind of the goal, really.  We draw from
many pedagogical ideologies including Reggio Emilia, Waldorf and
Montessori.  At our school children are free to play, to be outside
with the chickens, bunnies, or in the garden, free to run, scream,
sing, dance, dress up, hug, read, rest, paint, glue, glitter, explore,
dig, hang from a trapeze, get dirty, get naked, and make as many
messes as they want.  The only No's are things that could hurt
yourself or others.  This is above all a place for children to be free
to explore the world as they wish.

Tuition is as follows, paid monthly:
1 day/wk $160
2 days/wk $320
3 days/wk $480
4 days/wk $600

We accept children ages 3-5.   We look for a long-term commitment when we welcome a new family, as we form a special relationship with each child and don't like to say
goodbye until Kindergarten.

For more information or to schedule a tour Call Erin Cowan, MA, ED at 503 481-5189 or email us at littlehandsgardenschool@gmail.com

Thank you!

Infant/Toddler nanny seeking new family in inner pdx

January 08, 2012

Hello,

My name is Wendy and I have been working in the child care industry for the past 3.5 years, however, I have over 10 years experience caring for children, including raising a step son.  I have passed a National background check and Oregon's background check for child care workers. I am First Aid/CPR Certified and have obtained 400+ hours in Early Childhood Education. There for I am confident that I have the experience and the qualifications that you are seeking in a caregiver.

Most of my experience is with wobblers and toddlers (1-3 year olds) as this is my favorite age group.  I do however; have experience with children of all ages. I have cared for children on a one-on-one basis and in a group setting.   I am a mature individual seeking a long term part or fulltime position.

I am a very fun loving and active nanny.  I believe that children, especially babies, are learning and absorbing things all the time.  I enjoy fostering this learning and natural curiosity by stimulating them with fun and educational activities.   I also enjoy taking them on walks, setting up play dates, taking them to any classes that you might have them signed up in, and other age appropriate outings.

I am pet friend, have experience with expressed milk and cloth diapers.   When the time comes I also have experience with potty-training.   I believe in little to no television, I make sure that all schedules are followed, I encourage verbal skills by talking and reading to the children, and I try to get out of the house once a day.

I generally charge $12/hr for one, $14/hr for 2, and $15 for 3, but I am willing to negotiate to fit your budget.    My rate includes light housekeeping, generally centered on the children.

I have a resume, references, and many more details to give.  Please contact me at pwhobear@gmail.com, atyour earliest convenience.

Thank you,

Wendy

New home day care/preschool in NW Portland - native Mandarin Chinese teacher

December 11, 2011

Untitled Document

Portland Language Art (PLA) is a new child care facility in NW Portland. It is located off Cornel Rd and NW 102nd Ave, cross street from Cedar Mill Elementary School, just outside of Forest Heights. PLA owner/operator Lillian Sun has a child care license and will open Jan 2, 2012. Lillian is a loving and caring mom, who has two boys (4 and 6). More than three years ago, when Lillian was frustrated by finding her older son a good quality preschool, she started to have this idea of having her own child care/preschool. In past three years, Lillian has visited many preschool programs, attended early childhood workshops, and done research on preschool education. The result is Portland Language Art, a new child care/preschool facility that provides children an opportunity to learn a foreign language while he/she plays in a clean, healthy, safe and creative  environment that supports learning and creativity. PLAis planning to provide multiple foreign languages in future (which helps brain development and  allows the child to develop an interest in learning another langauage). For the time being, as Lillian is native Mandarin speaker, she will provide Mandarin teaching. In doing her research on preschool teaching methods, Lillian was highly influenced by the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches. She has designed a program that will be Montessori based but Reggio inspired --- mixed age group, each child has own curriculum that allows the child to progress at his/her own pace, but will utilized more visual arts and music which enhance  creativity.

Portland Circle of Friends is Now Enrolling!

December 07, 2011

Who are we?

Portland Circle of Friends and Family Preschool has been in existence as a cooperative preschool in Portland, Oregon since the fall of 1996. The preschool is operated by parents and continues to provide a valuable education service, at a low cost, to families within the community.

Mission Statement

Portland Circle of Friends and Family Preschool serves young children by providing a developmentally appropriate play-based program, which builds high self-esteem and encourages problem solving skills.

Our Philosophy

Circle of Friends offers an experiential hands-on learning environment, encouraging independence, positive social interactions and meaningful learning experiences.

We believe in helping children build high self-esteem in a non-competitive atmosphere, an atmosphere where personal challenges are valued as a natural happening from which we learn. Infant/Toddler nanny seeking new family in inner pdx

November 05, 2011

I generally charge $10-$12/hr for one, $12-$14/hr for 2, and $13-$15 for 3.   My rate includes light housekeeping, generally centered on the children.

I have a resume, references, and many more details to give.  Please contact me at pwhobear@gmail.com, atyour earliest convenience.

Thank you,

Wendy

Looking for "school" for 2 year old

My daughter just turned 2 and has become obsessed with the idea of going to school. We weren't planning on sending her to preschool until next year, but she's asking again and again and anytime we're out and see a preschool she tries to follow them back to school.

I work from home and am able to watch her full time, so am not looking for traditional daycare--nor do I have the budget for that. I'd love someplace she can go for 2 days or so for half days, so she can have the structure of a school-type situation and meet other kids. I have scoured the web looking for co-ops and other options and haven't really come up with much. Most places take only 3 year olds (and up) or are full day daycare situations.

Any advice, ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Please feel free to message me at nicmmiller at gmail dot com.

Free Spirit School

July 20, 2011

Freespirit_logo2
Free Spirit School is respectful and fun alternative school/childcare for children ages 4-12 in a unique setting.  The hours are from 10am - 2pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Children in our care enjoy stories, active outdoor adventure, healthy snacks, art exploration, and just general hanging out together and having fun.  We help follow passions and interests, and play outside in all kinds of weather - caring for the animals, getting into sand and water, shooting hoops, riding bikes, tending the garden and so much more!

Our priority at Free Spirit is to facilitate communication between the various ages in ways that meet everyone's needs for respect and safety, with no punishments or conditional rewards of any kind.

When there are conflicts or tears, we listen to feelings, offer empathy, and brainstorm solutions - modeling peaceful conflict resolution. Children feel respected even when they don't get exactly what they want, and therefore feel more open to communication and compromise.

* Driving children to and from school and other activities
* Providing a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment
* Attending to physical and emotional needs of children
* Helping children with daily routines such as toileting, dressing, eating, bathing and sleeping
* Housekeeping
* Guiding behavior and social development in a positive manner
* Problem solving skills

I am a very warm and compassionate individual. I feel very comfortable and competent caring for children. I feel that I would make an excellent candidate to be your nanny.

Montessori Children's House Open House: Sunday April 3 11AM-3PM

April 01, 2011

Header

OPEN HOUSE:

Sunday, April 3 from 11AM-3PM

Your family is warmly invited to the Montessori Children's House open house on Sunday April 3 from 11AM-3PM.  Our open houses provide an opportunity for prospective families to meet MCH staff and explore our environment.  We are currently enrolling for the 2011-2012 school year.

IMG_5948

We currently have openings for Toddlers (15 months - 36 months) and Primary children (3-6).

Montessori Children's House offers both  Toddler and Primary Montessori programs.  Located in Portland's newest neighborhood, the South Waterfront, we are still relatively 'undiscovered.'

We have mixed-age groups -- two Toddler Classes of up to eight children with two teachers, and our Primary classes with up to 22 children ranging from three years (or a bit younger) up through kindergarten age. In 2010-2011 we have one primary class and two toddler communities. As a new program, we are enrolling children now and do not yet have a “waiting list.” Remaining spaces are limited, however, especially in the toddler groups.

We also offer a Parent/Infant class for children under 15 months and not walking.

IMG_6307

'We toured a total of six schools before we found the right one for our daughter. We even enrolled her in another one prior to Montessori Children's House only to pull her out because we were disappointed in our experience there. I wish that we had discovered this school sooner! It would have saved us a lot of stress.'

IMG_5842

'The space itself is gorgeous, all new, beautiful learning areas, just what you would imagine a top notch Montessori school to look like...The location on South Waterfront is very easy to get to and from, parking is right in front of the main door and the teachers will even greet the kids at your car. We highly recommend Montessori Children’s House!'

Mon, Wed & Fri 11am-1pm

March 06, 2011

Hello Parents!

I need some advice. Next college term my husband is attending a 1hr class at PSU on Mon, Wed & Fri's from 11:30-12:30. When he's not in class, he's caring for our 5 month old while I work full-time. My office is near the Lloyd Center and thinking that we could avoid the cost of childcare if I could find a place to hangout until he's out of classs. Sure, I could go on a long walk...but I am looking for some more ideas. I seem to remember hearing about an indoor gym in the basement of a church near Lloyd Center but can't find info online. So, i'm looking for suggetions of any baby friendly activities and/or locations within a few miles of Lloyd Center or PSU. Thank you!
