Hi,

I am a 20 year-old female university student who is living in Portland for the summer. I am taking one class at PSU but other than that have a completely free and flexible schedule. I have extensive experience in childcare spanning the past 7 years. I have been both a full time and part time nanny, wilderness camp counselor, lifeguard, Au Pair, volunteer at a babies orphanage, tutor, ski instructor, and ski racing coach for children between the ages of 5 months and 15 years. I have also worked as a chef in the kitchen at the wilderness and am able to prepare all types of meals. I am willing to commute as long as the house is accessible via public transportation. Additionally, I have my drivers liscense in case the children need to be driven to and from activities, etc.

I am living in Portland with my friend Mallory who has similar nannying/camp experience. We are willing to engage in a nanny share with multiple families, taking care of a group of children in one place. We could go on excursions, play outdoors, etc. Both of us are Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certified.

Looking for part-time care for 8.5 month old infant while I work from home or occasionally run errands away from home.  Probably 8 hours a week to start, potential to increase.  Also potential for weekly date night babysitting if interested.  Ideally hours would be split over 2-3 days, in 3-4 hour periods of time.  Flexible on which days of the week and whether hours are in morning or afternoon.  Would also consider child care swap with someone looking for similar care in the area.  I live in close in SE, near 48th and Hawthorne.  Email is best, fisher.a.kelly[at]gmail.com.  Thanks, Kelly

PT Nanny in NW Portland

February 02, 2013

Hi there. We are looking for a PT Nanny for our 2 little girls, ages 5 and almost 3. Those with the ability to play dinosaurs and barbies, color, paint nails, and read the same book multiple times are strongly encouraged to apply :) Fine Print: We are also looking for someone who is mature, responsible, has previous childcare experience with similar ages, safe car and clean driving record, and CPR certified.

We are a professional couple and I work as a graphic designer on a freelance basis. Hours we definitely need are: Wed afternoons (12:45-4) and Fri mornings (9:30-1:30). If you have additional availability, that would be great as I frequently have a need for more hours as my workload fluctuates.

We live just up the hill from the NW 23rd area, right next to a great community center with a large park, playground and preschool. Our girls attend school there and you will need to pickup (on foot) on one day. Our girls also love to go to the zoo, children's museum, etc.

We are also looking for someone who is comfortable pitching in around the house (unloading dishwasher, folding clothes) as time allows. And we have a very slow, but sweet 13 year old lab who occassionaly likes to walk across the street to the park with the girls.

Please contact me if you might be interested.

Thanks so much!

GREAT NANNY, JUST FOR YOU!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jillian M. Currently I am looking for a new position as a Nanny. I was involved in a Nanny-share for almost the duration of the year but as the contract term ended and the children turned 1 they were placed in Montessori. I am comfortable doing either another nanny-share, or working for one family. I am comfortable working with up to 3 infants, depending on their ages, 4 toddlers, or 5 children in total but this would really depend on the overall dynamic of the situation. I am also comfortable doing care in your home, or mine. Ideally the position would provide at least 36 hours a week, but this is also flexable as I explore my options.

Here's a little information about me. I have an immense amount of experience with children. I started my babysitting career at 12 years old, after I received my Oregon babysitters training, and CPR certification. Since then, I have had experience in taking care of about 25 different children, usually two or more at a time (five max), in in-home settings. My experience with children ranges from newborns to 13-year-olds. About half of my clientele has been parents of children diagnosed with Autism. I have also worked and volunteered with a school that caters to meeting the needs of children diagnosed with Autism . My tasks at the school included building a summer reading program for some of the more advanced students. I directed the students during "signing times" videos (videos that teach the children sign language). I did teacher aide duties in the classrooms working extensively with the pre-schoolers, and in the occupational therapy room. In addition to this experience, I was also a camp counselor in high-school at Camp Howard outdoor school for 2 seasons.

I love to do activities with children. I am not the type of care provider who will sit children in front of the TV and do my own thing. Just to be clear, I rather children have no screen time during my time with them. I prefer for children to have fun. If the parent permits, I like to take them on outings to the park, or maybe a day to the zoo, children's museum, library, or swimming pool depending on the child's interest. I love doing art projects, or fun cooking activities, playing board games, and will even happily partake in dress up or tea parties. As well as making sure the children enjoy the time we spend together, I firmly believe in education. I like to come up with developmentally appropriate activities that stimulate the intellectual growth of each child. For school aged children I come in great handy for help with homework.

I am a student and am working towards a degree in early childhood education. I take courses through the local community college's online program, when I transfer next year I will continue primarily with online education. I am familiar with many learning/parenting styles includingMontessori, Waldorf, Attachment Parenting, and Positive Redirection. What I am unfamiliar with, I am willing to learn. My time spent with your children is based on your needs, their needs, and your parenting beliefs. I am very flexiable when it comes to this as I understand it is your child and I enjoy learning new styles.

I have a license, car insurance, and a car for transporting needs. In addition, I know basic Spanish, and am furthering my skills incase you are interested in your child learning a second language.

I would ideally like a position that offers at least a 1 year contract.

Best,
Jillian

Childcare Swap or Nanny Share

September 10, 2012

Hi! I am a substitute teacher with a 2 ½ year old and another one due in December. I am hoping to find someone who would be interested in either swapping childcare 2-3 days out of the week or who would be interested in doing a nanny share throughout the school year.

I am reliable, easy going, and being a teacher has given me tons of training and ability to work with kids, so watching your child or two would come pretty natural. My son is also very easy going, potty trained, and is a joy to be around:) If you already have a nanny and would be interested in adding my son and later on, our new little one (probably end of Jan) to the mix that would work for us too. If you are a nanny and are looking for some part-time/on-call work, that could also be a possibility.

Since I am lucky enough to get most of my jobs ahead of time (usually at least a couple days in advance) there wouldn’t be many weeks that weren’t planned out. I am flexible and open to lots of ideas, so if you have any questions or maybe you think it might work but aren’t sure, please don’t hesitate to email or call.

If any of this sounds like something that might work for you let me know and maybe we can work something out!

Thanks! Kristina

Female Professional new to Portland looking for Babysitting clients

August 27, 2012

Hello!

My name is Robyn and I recently relocated from Seattle to the NW District for a great new career opportunity. I am a college educated, single female professional in my mid-thirties and while I don't have any  of my own, I do enjoy spending time with children.

I have years of recent childcare experience with kids ranging from 6-months to 12 years of age. I had a couple of families in Seattle that I would sit for on a regular basis and I really miss them now that I have moved down to PDX.

I work regular hours from Monday to Friday but would be interested in speaking with any families that are looking for the occasional reliable babysitter. I would be glad to meet for an interview and I also have references that would be happy to speak with you and vouch for my character.

Please let me know if you would like to chat. The best to get in touch with me is email robynwoodman@gmail.com.

Thanks so much!

Robyn

Our Amazing Nanny Is Available Part Time

August 17, 2012

We have a fabulous nanny. She has been with us since our almost 4 year old daughter was 4 months old, and now need to cut back her hours due to preschool. She has been amazing every step of the way, and we wanted to write her this letter of reference to ease her search for an amazing family. We are hoping to keep her with us part time, as she is now one of daughter's best friends. She is magic with infants, and could get my daughter to sleep way more than I ever could. She was adept in all my family's needs; cloth diapers, frozen breast milk, dietary restrictions, and anything we asked of her. As my daughter grew she always was seeking out age appropriate activities. She would search for classes at the community center to attend during her hours, and always taking our daughter to the playground. She takes my daughter all over to places like OMSI, children's museum, the zoo, playdate pdx, and swimming. She is energetic, bubbly, and fantastic with children. She is dependable and always on time. Please contact us via email with any additional questions you may have and we will be happy to call or email you back. For all other non-reference questions, please contact her directly. She has written some information about herself and contact information below. Thank you!
Mindy and Jeremy Stone
mindyfagerstrom@hotmail.com

Here is some information from our nanny:
I am seeking a part-time nanny position in order to supplement my current nanny position. I have been working with my current family for more than 3 years, but now that their daughter is in preschool, my hours have been reduced. I am available:
Tuesdays (any time)
Thursdays (til approx. 4 pm)
Friday (any time)
Some Saturdays & Sundays
I am seeking a minimum of 10 hours a week. With some advance notice, I am also available for date nights and other babysitting jobs.

I think that children (and I) do best to get out of the house daily, even if it's just for a walk around the neighborhood. I'm very pro-active about finding things to do and places to go, such as the library, various story times, kid's musical events, playgrounds/parks, Play Date PDX, the Zoo, etc. Portland's such a family friendly place and there's always tons of activities indoors and out, whatever the weather, and I like to take advantage of that.

I am college educated, but plan to nanny for approximately the next 2 years. I have a clear criminal background history. I have taken infant and child CPR and 1st Aid, but my certification needs to be renewed, which I plan on doing asap. I am a non-smoker and have no pet allergies.

As for my general childrearing philosophy, I am very flexible, but tend to pull my beliefs from multiple sources, especially attachment parenting and Montessori. (Since every family and child is different, I don't believe that any one philosophy is "one size fits all.") I believe in soothing crying babies and being interactive with them, and have experience with cloth diapers, feeding with breastmilk, and babywearing. For toddlers and older children, I believe in learning while playing, silliness, and redirection if needed. Although I am flexible, I do believe that children thrive with some consistency and structure.

One of the most important things for me is to have a good fit and partnership with the families that I work with. Please contact me via email or phone if you have any questions or would like to discuss things further. I would greatly appreciate if you would include some information about your family, child care needs, etc.

Thank you!

NE PDX MAMA AVAILABLE FOR CHILDCARE

August 14, 2012

Hello Mamas and Daddies,

My name is Lindsey and I live here in NE Portland with my husband and our amazing nearly two and a half year old son. I have been providing childcare for a few other families in our home since the arrival of our own. I currently have an opening for Tuesdays and Thursdays. An ideal match would be near the same age as our son so they can have a blast playing together but I am open to other ages. Aside from being a full time mom I am also a licensed massage therapist and had a business based on infant massage. Our house is very baby/toddler friendly. We spend our days playing, making arts and crafts, laughing, making music, dancing, reading, eating organic and working on whatever developmental skills the tots are discovering at the moment. We spend as much time outside as possible whether it's going for a hike in the Gorge, goofing around at new parks, digging in the garden, meeting new animals at the zoo or discovering at the Children's Museum. I believe in a nurturing and confidence building environment. Providing childcare in my home during the week is something I feel very fortunate to do. It enables our son to interact and gain great social skills with a buddy. We live near the Kennedy School and live in walking distance to a couple of fantastic parks. If this sounds like a good match I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks so much,

Lindsey

Date Night Childcare Needed!

August 13, 2012

Hello!

Our little family of three just moved to Portland from Tacoma, WA and my husband and I would like to resume our bi-monthly date nights!  We are looking for childcare for our 3.5 year old daughter.

Here are the details:

  • Regular schedule of every other Saturday night. (2 times per month)
  • 6:00 pm to midnight (probably home earlier, but never later)
  • At our home in SE Portland in the Hosford-Abernathy neighborhood
  • $40 flat rate (our daughter goes to bed at 8:00 pm so there would only be 2 hours of active child care needed)
  • Our date nights would begin in September.

This would be a great job for a nanny or college student looking for some extra cash.

If you are interested, please tell me little bit about yourself at aebowman@hotmail.com

Thank you,

Amy

Nanny Available Tuesday Thursday Full Day's

August 01, 2012

Hello! My name is Jillian I am 28, and have been a nanny for about 6 years
now. I have been bringing my daughter along with me
since she was 4 months old. It has worked out wonderfully! She now considers
herself to be an expert on babies and is a very good helper:) Over the past 4 years I
have worked with several wonderful families, who we still keep in contact with
and would be happy to provide references! I have recently worked with several
infants and do love babies, but also children 0-6 I like all ages, they all have their perks:)  I have CPR training, have had a background check, bachelors degree in psychology, follow
attachment parenting, I am also a hypnotherapist (all about positive thinking
and language) I work with a Healing Arts Collective and organize and run the
Family Dances there! Would love to talk more!

I am looking for full day's on Tuesday's and Thursday's. $11 an hour for 1 child $14 for 2. A nanny share would be awesome.

ISO: Part-time nanny morning with occasional afternoon and weekend hours - SW portland

June 11, 2012

Hi everyone,

My family and I are new to portland and are looking for an warm, caring, and energetic nanny to help with our two 2 boys, ages 1yo and 3yo.   I am looking for a morning nanny/mother helper 3 days a week (Tu or Wed,Th and F) and an evening nanny 2 days a week (thurs and fri) - every other week.  Also occasional 1-2x/month weekend help 3-4hrs.

Mornings:  530am to 830am

I leave for work at between 530am and 6am most days.  The ideal candidate for this position would be an early riser who would start at 530am.  While the children are sleeping they would quietly do light housework such as put away dishes, cook breakfast and lunch if necessary, tidy up the kitchen, i.e. sweep and put dishes away from the dishwasher, and fold laundry.  When the children wake up (usually around 7am) then help them get dressed, eat breakfast and drop them off to daycare/school in Portland by 830am.  This position is for 9 hours a week in the mornings from 530am to 830am on Tuesday (flexible), Thursday and Friday.

Evenings: Thurs and Fridays every other week -  530pm to 7-8pm (occasionally til 9:30pm)

Pick up the children from daycare/school bring them home and feed them dinner, take a bath and read books.  I should be home before bedtime most of the time.  Occasionally I will be home after bedtime. I will be able to give you advanced notice on late nights.

This is a perfect position for a person with busy days looking for a few more hours.

If you are interested, I would love to meet you.  Please reply with a little about yourself, your experience and your asking rate.

Fun Experienced Morning Nanny

May 31, 2012

Are you looking for an experienced, fun, loving nanny to watch your little ones?

I am a full time nanny with 8 years experience and excelent references. I grew up on a small island in the San Juans, WA, where I spent most of my time outside. I think it is paramount for children to get as much time in nature as possible, even if it is only their own backyard. I currently work for two families in the portland area which fills about half of my week, and am looking to add one more family in the mornings starting the middle of June 2012. One of the families I work for now have two boys, 4 1/2 and 6, and they are two balls of energy, as well as daredevils. I have been with them for almost 3 years. The other family has a 3 year old girl and a 8 year old boy. I mostly only watch the younger one since the older one is in school most of the time, although I did watch him when he was younger, and still spend some time with him aswell. I have been with them for the past 3 years, and for a year previously with their son. the children I am with now are all about preschool age, but I love working with infants and toddlers aswell.

My childcare philosophy is simple. Possitive reinforcement. I find that they respond more to it than timeouts or scolding. Some children need a firm hand though, and I will use a timeout if it is needed (1 min. per year of child's age), along with clear comunication of expectaions. I find that if the kids are kept busy and engaged then misbehavior tends to happen less often. Plus, they have more fun, which in my opinion is one of the most important parts of being a kid.

I am an animal lover, I live with two cats at the moment and grew up with dogs, chickens, ducks, goats, and horses, so even a big crazy dog won't really faze me.

If interested please contact Laurel at lgstoft@gmail.com.

Experienced Caregiver Offering Babysitting

May 14, 2012

Hi, everyone!  I'm expecting my first child in September, and would like to try to save up some money for the first six weeks of baby's life.  So I'm offering occasional babysitting in order to supplement the income I already earn from working.  I currently work at a couple childcare centers, but neither of them full-time, so maternity leave is not a benefit I would receive.

I have experience helping friends and family with their children from ages birth to 6 (for about 8 years, combined).  I also have been working for licensed childcare centers for about four years, combined.  That has been with ages 0 - 5 years.

I have CPR/First Aid certification, Food Handler's card, and some Domestic Violence Advocacy Training.  I also am registered in the Oregon Registry.

My rate for babysitting would be $10 an hour, and I'm comfortable with up to three kids at a time.

If you're interested and need a caregiver, I'd be more than happy to talk further and answer any questions, provide references, etc.  Thanks, everybody!  Have a nice day!

Mom offering part time care

May 07, 2012

Hi,

I'm a mom to a 3.5 year old and a 10 year old.  I'm also a student at PSU working towards my MSW (social work) and have a DHS background check, child welfare experience, etc.  I'm looking to provide part time care to a child near my daughter's age (2-5ish) this summer (or even now!).   I'm open to varied situations or hours, but would like to do care in my home.  I'm up for evenings (including date night!), weekends, overnights, or day hours.  I can be flexible on pay depending on the situation but $5 per hour or $30 per day is what I was thinking.   In addition, although once school starts up again I won't be available during weekday days, I will continue to be available on weekends and evenings after the summer, if you're looking for someone long term for drop in care.

Generally we spend our days playing at the school/park next door, going to water play areas, library programs and things like that.  I live close in NE, not far from downtown.  We usually take the bus places or walk.

If interested in talking more email me at jc97210@gmail.com

Thanks!

Looking for an affordable loving nanny?

Hello. I am a 25 year old mother, and part time student looking for a family in need of a part time nanny.  My family and I just moved, so I lost my job as a nanny, where I was caring for another child along with my own, within my own home. Now I’m looking for a part time child to care for outside the home, where I can potentially bring my own 2 year old daughter with me.

I am highly qualified to be your nanny. Before having my own daughter, I was employed at CCLC “Children’s creative learning center”, as a full time toddler teacher. Before that, I was employed at A Childs Kingdom working mainly with toddlers, and infants. I have worked part time in a few other licensed child care centers, and I’ve been employed as a nanny for two different families. Over all, I have nine years working with children and I love doing it.

I contain an abundant of skills including empathy, energy, communication, listening, playfulness, creativity, organization, multi-tasking etc.

If I sound like I could be a good fit for your childcare needs, please feel free to email me at:

Infant/Toddler nanny seeking new family in inner pdx

May 05, 2012

Hello future families,

My name is Wendy and I have been working in the child care industry for the past 4 years.   I am a compassionate, patient, hard working, individual seeking a laid back, loving, and friendly family to work for.   I have passed a National background check and Oregon’s background check for child care workers.  I am CPR/First Aid certified, have some basic knowledge of ASL (American Sign Language), and have obtained 400+ hours in Early Childhood Education. There for I am confident that I have the experience and the qualifications that you are seeking in a caregiver.

I have been working in the child care industry for the past 4 years; however, I have over 10 years experience caring for children, including raising a step son.  Most of my experience is with wobblers and toddlers (1-3 year olds) as this is my favorite age group.  I do however; have experience with children of all ages. I have cared for children on a one-on-one basis and in a group setting.   I am a mature individual seeking a long term position; whether it is occasional, part-time, or a fulltime position.

I am pet friendly, have experience with expressed milk and cloth diapers.   When the time comes I also have experience with potty-training.   I believe in little to no television, I make sure that all schedules are followed, (within reason) I encourage verbal skills by talking and reading to the children, and I try to get out of the house at least once a day.

My rate generally starts at $12/hr and goes up from there (dependent on job duties and number of children in care).   However, I am flexible and willing to negotiate.   I have a resume, references, and many more details to give.  Please contact me at pwhobear@gmail.com, at your earliest convenience.

Thank you,

Wendy

Hello my name is Gnora Gumanow and I will be teaching private swim lessons and running a babysitting service all summer long (from May 7-August 31st).

I am a current sophomore at Ohio Wesleyan University studying psychology and spanish. I will be in Portland all summer.

I have been a swim instructor employed with Portland Parks and Recreation for 4 years and I have built a lot of experience through teaching with them. I am also a certified lifeguard with infant, child, and adult CPR and first aid training. For lessons I will figure out a pool plan with each family individually. I am also willing to babysit during the day or at night for kids over the age of 2. I have been babysitting since I was 14 and I have a lot of experience working with kids. I was a camp counselor last summer and I would be willing to take the kids to the zoo, or to the park to play games.

I am very flexible with hours and activities so you and I can talk about what you want your kids doing during the summer when they are under my care. I usually charge around 20 an hour for swim lessons plus any pool fees, and 12 dollars an hour for babysitting, this can all be negotiated between me and parents.

If you are interested please feel free to email me.

Traveling Nanny Needed March 23 to 26th San Juan Islands

February 26, 2012

My 1 year old daughter is in need of a travelling nanny while I work during the day on Orcas Island. We would leave Wednesday March 23 and return Monday March 26th. All expenses paid plus $75 a day. We will be staying at a beautiful summer camp with lots of nature to explore. On Sunday night we will head to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island and return late on Monday night. My daughter loves being outside so someone who loves exploring and willing to stay at a large summer camp would be ideal. Possible zip line experiences available. Please contact me if you are interested and I can share more details and answer questions. deanna.r.pickett@gmail.com
