High Quality Nannies Whenever You Need Them!

December 13, 2016

Portland-nanny-logo

Hi UrbanMamas!

I started an on-call nanny agency a few months ago, Portland Nanny. We specialize in emergency, back-up and intermittent childcare needs. I started this company because I am a stay at home mom who needed quality care irregularly and had trouble finding QUALITY care exactly when I needed it. So, I started Portland Nanny.

Child home sick from school? Regular childcare fell through? Need a date night sitter? That is where we can help! We do it all. I essentially have 3-5 nannies on call at all times.

ALL of our nannies are EXCEPTIONAL. I would trust them all with my children, and do! They are thoroughly background checked, infant and child CPR trained, have years of experience in childcare (with references to back up that they were exceptional!), and are seriously just awesome.

Let us help you when life happens! Everyone deserves quality childcare, no matter how last minute or how infrequently you need it!

Seeking occassional care on Thursdays for 1 and 3 year old girls

October 08, 2015

Do you have Thursdays free and are looking for occasional childcare work?  We're looking for a babysitter for our sweet, fun, and adventurous one and three year old girls.  We live in inner NE Portland, near NE 8th and Fremont.

Ideally you would have other regular employment or be a mom looking for occasional supplemental income. If you are a parent, we wouldn't mind if you brought your kiddo over to our house to play with the girls while you care for them. Please have recent experience caring for young children. I'm hoping to keep my awesome work schedule for several years, so this could be a long term gig.

I work part-time, but occasionally I need to go into the office for a few hours (3-6 hours) on Thursdays.  The hours would fall between 8-4.  Generally, I know of my childcare needs several weeks in advance.

Looking forward to hearing from you! Jackie  eaton.jaclyn@gmail.com

Waldorf Inspired Teacher Guided Nanny Share/Adventure Group Has Wednesday Morning Openings!

September 30, 2015

Hi There!

IMG_7071

My name is Sara pronounced (Sahra) and I am a Waldorf inspired teacher with over 17 years of childcare experience with children of all ages. My time with children has taught me how to slow down, find playful moments in every activity, and to stay present, loving, and kind. I have created a sweet little spin off of my former preschool, Sweet River bamboo, that I created and taught at for 3 years in the form of a nanny share. If I were asked to describe in one word the quality of the relationships I cultivate with children, it would be... Magical. There is space available for 1-2 children in my play group on Wednesdays from 9a-1p/3:30p. This nanny share arrangement is ideal for families who want their children to socialize and explore creativity and nature weekly, and who want to gently introduce/or continue offering their child a small group of children to engage with in a warm and loving environment. This childcare group is well established and a high quality group with extremely mindful care and thoughtful parenting.

Your child will be playing with 2 year old Macy and 4 year old Seamus for the day. We are in Macy's home until 1p and then at Seamus's home after that for nap/rest time. Macy is kind and strong. She loves filling up her back packs for adventures, and playing dress up. Seamus is an energetic tender spirit who loves to build polar bear dens and play chase. Both children love to make art, cuddle, and read books. Our rhythm is filled with playtime, song circles, and craft making that celebrate the seasons and infuse our time together with rich, collaborative activities. There is a lot of silliness and laughter too! If our group size allows, we visit playgrounds and venture out to the local gardens around town. There is a lot of silliness and laughter too! Our days are media free aside from world music that  accompanies our dance jams. I would like to bring our new group together as soon as possible so we can all get to know each other and settle into our rhythm. I have excellent references to share with you so please contact me at 503-432-6414 or saralizadeh@hotmail.com to learn more about this arrangement. Above all, I truly see children as whole beings of love and light, and I deeply enjoy getting to know each and every little one who joins my path and shares their magic with me. Please check out my former preschool's facebook page, Sweet River Bamboo and extended childcare post to get a sense of the quality of care I provide children.

Thank you!

Sara

Seeking additional family for nanny share in N/NE or an already established set of families for share

September 21, 2015

Hello!

I am a seasoned childcare wizard working with an awesome family. We are looking to start a nanny share. I work part time. Tues-Th-Friday full days in Sabin in NE. The baby is 14 mo and it would be lovely for him to have a friend around his age. We take daily walks in the neighborhood, to the library and to the local parks. We meet up with friends who have babies his age so they can play together. I value socialization from an early age. It is ideal if you need childcare for the days I currently work. I prioritize childcare three days/week and have other commitments so I am not very available on my off days (although sporadically may work). The rate is $20/hour so $10/hour for each family. There is flexibility where the share can happen, at our house or yours. We want the kiddos to be able to play together so 10 mo - 20 mo is the age range we are thinking.

About Sam the nanny. I have ten years plus of experience under my belt. I am CPR/First Aid certified. I have excellent Portland and Bay Area references. I am multilingual, efficient in baby sign, and specialize in baby care 3 months - 3 years of age. I prioritize taking littles outside to explore and be in the world and get dirty. I love working with diverse families including LGBTQ etc. I communicate directly and cannot overemphasize the importance of a straight-forward and caring nanny-parent relationship. Awesome parents make my job awesome. The foundation of the work I do with babies and toddlers is to provide them with a structured container so that they may develop and explore safely within that container.

About the baby and parents. Baby is on the verge of walking. He is pretty mellow and sweet and goofy these days. He has a set rhythm in terms of sleeping and eating, and takes one long nap in the afternoon. The parents are awesome, have a great sense of humor, are straight-forward and great at communicating. We all say how we feel and this generally goes great. One parent works from home, and we have learned to support each other in our work days really well.

There is also the small possibility that I may be available for a different nanny share. I'd be looking for an already established set of families that get along and work well together in N/NE. The age range I'd be looking for is 9 mo - 3 yrs old, but around 1 year old is ideal. I would hate to leave my current family, but need to do a nanny share at this point to afford living in Portland.

If either of these options are attractive to you be in touch.

Sam

Experienced Nanny Available

September 16, 2015

My name is Kit and I am a 31 year old nanny, artist, and musician with 13 years of childcare experience. I have cared for children ages 0-13 and specialize in infant and toddler care, though I am very comfortable with all age groups, including twins and multiples, and enjoy spending time with older kiddos too! I am looking for a stable position (a contract for 1 year+ would be ideal) and am available to start immediately. I am currently available from 8am until 2:30 or 4:30pm on Tuesdays (depending on some logistical things—we can discuss further if interested) and anytime after 8am on Thursdays. On MWF I am available from 8am until approximately 2:30pm. I would prefer to work 6-8 hours per day and I am able to offer a sliding scale of $14-17/hour for one child, with my scale increasing from there for two or more. I have a safe and reliable vehicle and drive children several times a week on outings, to camps, and other activities like athletic practices, etc. Preference given to families in NE/NoPo or close-in SE.

I am especially excited to work with other GLBTQ families and/or folks who are open to the wonderful diversity of people that exists here in Portland.

A bit more about me: I am originally from the Midwest and have nannied in Minneapolis and Baltimore before moving to Portland in 2011. I was a live-in nanny for two years in my early 20s and even went on tour with a punk band as a “road nanny” a few years back. I’ve worked in both a preschool and in-home setting and have knowledge of early childhood development as well as many different child-rearing philosophies. I use this knowledge and experience to create a safe, happy, fun, and nurturing environment for growing children to learn and explore. I am also available to help with sleep training and other challenges that may come up! I also have infant CPR and first-aid training.

I am available for occasional babysitting as well—please feel free to get in touch if that is of interest!

I have an extensive resume and several excellent references that I would be happy to forward if it seems like it could be a good fit. email: leahkitkogan @ gmail dot com

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Each month on the second Monday I have a meeting from 7:30 to 10:30 I will need coverage for, the other days are much more random AND starting Nov 16 I can tailor my schedule to yours!

Here is what we need until 11/16
09/28 7:30am to 5pm
10/02 7:30a -- pref 5p but flexible
10/12 7:30a -- 10:30a
10/30 7:30a -- pref 5p but flexible
11/9 7:30a -- 10:30a

We have a nice baby area established in our house so we prefer you coming to us. We have a geriatric cat at home in the twilight of her life you would need to be okay to be around. Bonus points if you're interested in music since our baby loves music!

If there is availability in a previously established nanny share I would love to hear from you as well!

If you have an opening in your childcare facility, it should be in SW or on the way to Wilsonville from SW.

Our little one is active, easy and social. Seems crazy to PAY someone to hang with her, but I guess I feel that way because I am mom. :)

WEVILLAGE OPENS FOURTH FLEXIBLE CHILDCARE LOCATION IN NORTHEAST PORTLAND

Portland, Or.  WeVillage founder Karen Beninati opened her innovative, flexible childcare facility at Northeast 19th and Broadway. The beautiful, 2,000 square foot space is designed as a unique play and learning area with a custom built play structure emulating some of the surrounding homes in the neighborhood, a preschool area, and a separate area for the infants and toddlers to explore.

The Northeast Broadway location was created by Beninati and a team of experts from Andersen Construction, the company that also designed and constructed Ibarre, WeVillage’s neighbor next door.  The vision was to use materials leftover from various larger commercial projects done by Andersen Construction.  The result, 96 per cent of the materials is reclaimed from existing wood saved from the original space.  The ceiling is a reclaimed concrete shoring form.  “We used LOW VOC adhesives, the panels are reclaimed from a high-tech industry project, the doors and windows were left over from some of Andersen’s larger commercial jobs”, said Beninati.  “Our mission of providing exceptional flexible childcare spaces that are beautifully designed for discerning parents has been achieved and we’re very excited to show our concept off in our newest location,” she added.

A special grand opening celebration will be held SEPT 24TH 4-9pm BIG PARTY! with BOUNCE HOUSE, FOOD,COCKTAILS AND FACE PAINTING,  ICE CREAM BAR!

IBARRE IS ALSO CELEBRATING 1 YEAR IN BUSINESS

“We also look forward to many events, birthday parties, and celebrations creating special memories with our WeVillage families at each of our WeVillage locations in the Pearl, Orenco Station (Hillsboro), Happy Valley Town Center and our newest here on Northeast Broadway,” she added.

Childcare Wizard available for short-term and on-call basis in N and NE Portland.

April 27, 2015

Spring greetings!

I am a dynamic, nature-loving nanny working part-time with a fantastic family. I am currently looking for temporary and/or on-call work to round out my schedule. If you are looking for an experienced and dependable person to help out when your nanny gets sick, when you need a date night, or when you are transitioning between childcare, I may be your guy. Since I relocated here a year and a half ago I have worked closely with three families in the Sabin and King neighborhoods. All their babies were under one year of age when I started with them and I still provide childcare occasionally. I have stellar references and love establishing rapport with the families I work with.

My trusty bicycle, Sunny, will transport me all over North and Northeast Portland in punctual and dependable style. I live in Cully and do not own a vehicle and therefore prefer not to travel outside of N and NE Portland. I work on a sliding scale basis, starting at $14 - $17 per hour. Rates vary for shares, multiple children, etc. Ask me about it!

About me: I am a childcare wizard with over 10 years of experience. I have the most experience with little ones 3 months to 3 years of age. I have a background in teaching (pre-K - 12th grade), from language classes to special education to outdoor education. My experience in pre-K included Waldorf and Montessori modalities. I am CPR and First Aid certified (June 2014) and I am Trustline Certified (includes a background check).

About my style: I am an active, creative, and unique caregiver with a good sense of humour. Spending most of my days with little ones, I like to keep it fresh. As a career nanny, parents often ask for my advice in regards to their children's mysterious behaviour. I do not have a textbook childcare philosophy, and enjoy drawing on techniques across a range of styles. With flexibility, I like to work with the parents and children to find something that suites everyone.

I like to explore nature, establish strong attachment and trust through affection, and foster creativity and personality through art, songs, and storytelling. I am a naturalist and herbalist, so most of my outdoor adventures with littles involve relating to plant life small and large. With toddlers I like to dance, garden, cook, and have curious conversations. With younger babies my care includes lots of love and touch, baby wearing, floor exploration, singing and reading practice. I have experience working with parents to establish daily rhythms, including feeding and sleep training. I really believe in none to very little exposure of technology and sugar for children under five. I have potty training experience, and love talking to kids about poop!

I have experience with a wide range of parents, children, and care styles. I am a sensitive caregiver and enjoy diversity, and have loved working with LGBTQ and alternative families and those with unique life perspectives.

Get in touch with me if you think we could be a good fit. My email is artemisia248@gmail.com and my phone is 619.995.9262.

Warmly, Sam

looking for part-time nanny work

January 05, 2015

My name is Jenni & I have been involved in child care for as long as I can remember - I first started when I was 12 & am now almost 26. I have mainly been doing part-time childcare for 1-3 year olds the past few years & have some, but less, experience with infants & elementary/middle schoolers.

As a nanny, I really enjoy bringing loving empowerment with subtle, yet helpful, boundaries. I am on the path of doing some sort of mindfulness-based therapy work, so I really like to help build emotional intelligence in children by engaging them to put words to their feelings & find healthy expressions that do not minimize their experience... I also love to go for walks, explore in nature, sing songs, read or make up stories, color, & make up games that utilize & expand imagination. I value healthy, organic foods & a deep reverence for the Earth. The best gift I can offer to children is my practice in presence & loving attention.

My rates are $14/hr for 1 child, $2/hr per additional child. I am also very open to a nanny share in which I would ask $10/child. I am looking for part-time work ONLY. References available upon request. Thank you! Please email jengold23@gmail.comMaxx&me

M-F Nanny with T-Th share available

August 20, 2014

I am a nanny whose current full time family will be moving away in late August. I will miss them but am also looking forward to building a relationship with a new family.  I currently work for them M-Th and we do a share on T-Th with a delightfully verbal 2.5 yr old girl who I've been caring for since she was 6 mo old. I would like to maintain that relationship if possible. We're located in the Irvington area but open to NE and close in SE,  NW and SW on/near a bus or max line.I'm looking for a family who ideally needs care Mon-Thur and is open to a share on T-Th for a total of around ~30-35 hours a week +/-. I am also open to odd hours and overnights if that is what your schedule requires.

I am college educated and CPR trained and have several years experience caring for newborns through age 10. I am reliable, punctual and self-motivated. I do not have a car, so please be comfortable with us getting around by bus, bike or foot. I like to take the kids outside for an outing most days as long as the weather isn't completely heinous. We like to go to do all the usual outings and we also like to paint and do crafts as well as read and play. I am open to starting as early as Aug 18, or as late as Oct 20ish. Caveat:I have an overseas trip planned for Oct 9-18, so I'm open to temp jobs through Sept if I can't find a long term arrangement that can accomodate the trip. I am comfortable with newborns and big families. I would also be open to a rent exchange if you have a basement/attic room or studio apartment you want to rent. If you would like to talk with me further, I can be reached at greatportlandnanny@hotmail.com.

Thanks!

Sara

Fun-loving, Reliable, and Nurturing Nanny / Artist

Hi! My name is Shannon and I am a babysitter and nanny here in Portland. I have been babysitting for the past ten years and a nanny for the past five years, working with ages newborn through 8 years old, with extensive experience with infants and toddlers. I currently work full time as part of a nanny share for two families that each have two children, ranging in ages from 15 months through 5 years old. I have been with one family for a year and a half since their littlest was 10 weeks old! Schedules are changing for both families, as our my needs, so we are sadly going to be ending the share at the end of April. ----- I would like to be able to spend more time on my art and photography businesses and therefore I am hoping to find a new position 3 full days/week (8-10 hour days) and am flexible on which days those are. I am open to working more than 3 days per week on occasion and date nights as well. I am also open to another nanny share situation.

Looking for on-call nanny

September 13, 2011

Hello uM Community,

My husband and I are looking for an on-call nanny M-F. We both work in the freelance realm and have random, last minute schedule conflicts. This has made finding consistent childcare very difficult and hard on our little guy (9 months). What we need would look something like this: On-call nanny to call (sometimes the night before) for someone to watch our little guy typically from 8am-6pm. I would say on average we need someone at least 1 day/wk. We live in North Portland and would prefer to have the nanny come to us. We do have 2 dogs, a cat and 3 chickens, so it is a busy household, albeit a very small one.

Perhaps a nanny-share would be best in this situation?

Please email  me if you are interested or if you have questions.

Thank you. Carissa @ heycarissa@gmail.com

Fun & Artistic Daytime Nanny Available!

September 10, 2011

 Hi!

My name is Shannon and I have been working as a nanny and sitter in Portland for the past two years. Prior to this I have several years of sitting experience in Florida as well. Most of my experience has been with 1-3 year olds (toddlers are my favorite age group!), but I also have a lot of experience with infants as young as 3 months and children as old as 6. I have taken care of two to four children, as well as one-on-one care, and have worked in a childcare center.

I am currently looking for jobs that will begin soon and will continue to fit into my school schedule when classes start in a month. I will be available Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00AM until around 4:30PM, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00AM until around 1:00PM, and all day on Fridays.

I am very active and love going on trips to the park, indoor playgrounds, the library, the children's museum, children's music events, music together classes, art classes, and other activities. I have even participated in both baby and toddler swim lessons, children's yoga, and baby sign language classes - all here in Portland. I am a believer in children being actively engaged and stimulated, encouraging learning, discovery, and creativity. I love playing music, doing art projects, reading books, dancing around, and facilitating children's imagination.

I am pet-friendly, eco-friendly, have experience preparing vegan/vegetarian & organic meals, have experience with pumped milk, cloth-diaper experienced, potty-training experienced, little to no television, reading-heavy, active and get outside even on rainy days capable, and much much more!

I have been CPR certified, but do need to renew sometime in the near future. I also have a very reliable car, which I have always used to transport my toddlers, and I am very punctual. $10-$12/hr is generally what I have been paid for caring for one child, and $12-$15/hr caring for two, but I am completely willing to work around your budget. I am also more than willing to do light cooking and cleaning and laundry and have experience with all of these things at several of my previous jobs.

As for some more personal information, I am getting my BFA in Art Practices with focuses in printmaking and photography from PSU this year. I have my own photography business photographing maternity, children, weddings, portraiture, etc. as well. I enjoy music, making it and seeing it, creating art and videos, exploring nature, and being with friends. I moved to Portland two years ago from Florida and I absolutely love it here!

I have a resume and several great references that I would love to email you if you are interested, including the many families I worked with in both Florida and Portland. If you are satisfied with my qualifications I would love to interview as soon as possible, by phone or in person, and see if I would be a good fit for your family, and then have you contact my references.  You can email me at shannon@bearstringhead.com if you would like to set up an interview. Thank you for your time and consideration!

                                Best,
                                Shannon

childcare needed for our 9 month old

August 17, 2011

We are seeking childcare for our nine month old, in two different situations.

First we would like an occasional baby sitter for every other week "date night", the night of the week will vary.  We would like this sitter to be in our home (SE PDX 44th & Holgate) we will require a background check and references from other families you have worked with, infant CPR  certification is a  plus and we will pay more for it.

We are also seeking a two day a week day care, this would be out of our home.  We would like to find something close by our house.  If you offer daycare for infants in SE and have extra space please contact me. Acceptable neighborhoods include Woodstock, Clinton, Sellwood and everything in between.  Ideally this daycare will be flexible on the days that our child attends.

Nanny with Excellent References Available!

August 01, 2011

Dear Potential Employer(s),

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, first of all. Let me start with a bit about my self; I am a 23 year old female looking to eventually return to college for an Early Childhood Education degree. I am passionate about children and bringing love and laughter to their lives. I am a non-smoker, have a valid license, clean driving record and background as well as excellent, up-to-date insurance on my reliable neon.

I currently live in Clackamas and am available to provide transportation as well as to travel to work (though I would love to keep my daily miles under 50!).

I'm looking for a family, or families who are in need of childcare. My rates are reasonable and reflect my strong philosophies on talking it out with children (with some 'quiet time' on a sofa/chair if absolutely necessary) and play-based learning. I value every interaction with children as an opportunity not only to teach, but also to learn.

My hours of availability are open wide to whatever my families need; I am currently not enrolled in school and hope to save up for it and attend within the next 3 years. I have excellent references, am recertifying in cpr/first aid (infancy through adult) on Saturday the 6th of August, and will also have both recognizing child abuse/neglect certification as well as a food handler's card at that time.

I've worked with children since I was very young, and am quite comfortable around all ages. Most of my specific skills are geared more towards infancy to pre-school ages, but I am adaptable and can just as easily entertain school-aged children.

I would love a long-term position if possible, but am open to short-term positions or even one-time date nights. My rates are very reasonable for date nights, by the way! ;)

If you're interested please feel free to email me at aballard23@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Alicia
