Fun, Adventure- Loving, College-Educated, Silliness-Causing Nanny Available!

May 22, 2013

Hi there!
My name is Ashley. I am 26 years old and recently graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in Texas back in December. I am looking for a full-time position, at least 35 hours a week, or even occasional babysitting- I am available anytime! While I was in school, I was a nanny for three children (ages 2-5) and was an occasional babysitter for a 4 & 10 year old. I have excellent references that I can provide for you and I have been babysitting on and off since I was 14. I love kids! I'm really big into reading (I absolutely love Fancy Nancy, Harry Potter and Eloise!), making music, dancing,  eating healthy snacks, science experiments, going to parks, arts and crafts, adventure, imagination, silliness and sidewalk chalk. I like to create games and scavenger hunts. I am open to doing cleaning and meal preparation, and any other household chores that need to be done. I rely on public transportation so I will need a family close to the MAX or buslines. Please email me: where you found my posting, a little bit about your family, your rate, and your requirements at ashleyborck24@gmail.com if you would like to to meet to see if your family and I are a good match!124

Run, climb, and slide with us!! The Love and Giggles Playhouse has a couple of openings left! Enrolling age two - five for full time care, or part time care.

The Love and Giggles Playhouse has a couple of openings left! We are a state certified childcare with a preschool curriculum. I have  seven years' experience, a spotless record, and great references. I have a few openings for age two - five.

We are located in the SE Portland - Woodstock area ( close to 52nd & Woodstock).

We are currently enrolling age two - five for full time care ( four - five days per week), or part time care ( three days per week).

We love to have fun - we paint, sing & dance, play outside as much as possible, lots of arts & crafts, play dress up, act out stories, pretend we are animals, practice manners- being a good friend, beginning math - writing- fun science projects, we run through the sprinkler on sunny days, and stomp around in our rain boots on rainy days, plant seeds and watch them grow, collect pretty fall leaves and make projects out of them, and much more. Our motto is to be safe, have fun, and learn every day.

INFANT/TODDLER OPENING

October 12, 2012

LEAVING YOUR NEW BABY FOR THE FIRST TIME? We know how hard that can be and really strive to help you make the right decision for you and your baby.

At Marti's Place we love the feel of a "big family". We have children from 6 weeks to 3 years and do not have classrooms or break up by age group. We are a Certified home-based child care that emphasizes a small group (10 or less) with a small ratio of children to adults (2.5/1). We feel it is important to have a homelike, low-stress atmosphere for your little one to feel safe and comfortable and build those first relationships away from home for the first time.

Fall openings for my award winning Waldorf preschool (inner SE)

August 08, 2012

2011-09-14_11-03-06_573

Welcome!

  • Apple Blossom Nursery School was honored to be awarded last school  year with the Red Tricycle "Best Preschools Of Portland Oregon" award. We were in the "top 5 best of "(preschools) catagory!(out of over 290 preschools)

Apple Blossom Nursery School (ABNS) offers a beautiful and peaceful home setting in southeast Portland, Oregon. We balance our program with activities that support your growing child’s gross and fine motor development, with plenty of time to explore their ever-expanding world. Here at Apple Blossom Nursery School, your child is surrounded with environmentally stimulating and enriching activities balanced with nutritional foods and a sense of community.

** Apple Blossom has expanded its hours this year!

M-F

8-5 for full day

 8-12:30 ½ day

We offer full & part time care in inner SE

(I also have a "baby house" for infants to age 3 only 3 blocks away)

2011-09-14_10-56-47_282

ABNS is inspired by Waldorf education and specializes in working with children age two and a half to six years of age. Carrie Riley, director, founder and lead teacher of Apple Blossom Nursery School, is a state - and Waldorf - certified teacher with over 20 years experience in child care and 16 years as a lead teacher. She is also state registered. Carrie is mother to three grown children & 4 grandchildren. 2011-09-14_10-58-13_818

Apple Blossom is an ECO certified school. All teachers take yearly continuing education courses to keep up to date on child development knowledge.  AB far exceeds the state mandated 15 hours per year. The average annual training is over 50 hours each!

2011-10-12_10-04-05_925

Of course, all teachers have completed their child CPR & first aide, and a criminal history background check, reference checks & go through a trial 90 day trial period with AB before being hired.

2012-01-10_11-36-59_999

Apple Blossom offers year-round school including aftercare Monday through Friday. We observe the same break schedule as Portland public schools; this includes holidays and inclement weather days. 2012-04-03_12-26-47_680_edit0

During the school year we offer delicious homemade organic and vegetarian meals with a focus on nutrition. As the children arrive for school they are welcomed with warm herbal tea and a light breakfast of warm cereal & fruit. 2012-04-06_09-09-26_579

We are state certified. Childcare options in Oregon include exempt family, registered family, certified family, or center care. There are over 5300 child care homes in Oregon. Of that number just 225 are certified homes. There are about 1020 centers. Certified homes are regulated like centers and have many of the same requirements. Every certified home goes through an annual certification process, unannounced visits and is inspected by the childcare division and the county health department. The certifier also observes the staff working with children. Staff in certified homes must have at least one full year of previous childcare experience or college training in early childhood education, child development, or in a related field.

2012-04-23_10-30-02_775

When making your choice, know that going with a certified and licensed home, you are making a best choice there is! It’s a lot of work, but I feel it's worth it for you and your child’s well being.

Waldorf education is about teaching your child to learn through imitation and action. We recognize each child's unique spirit and strive to be worthy of their imitation. Simply put, learning through the head, heart & hands. 2012-06-21_09-07-02_980

2012-06-21_09-12-21_731

2012-06-28_10-15-41_980_edit0

We invite you to come see the school and experience the magic!

“We just love, love, LOVE Apple Blossom! The staff, the home, the warmth & love reaches far above what we ever dreamed about for our daughter! She is thriving in their care and we have been with them for over a yr now. She sings happy songs all day long now & that warms our hearts.” JB

“I highly recommend this beautiful program!” RL

“My son loves playing in their beautiful back yard and calls it the “kid jungle”. I like knowing the food he eats there will be thoughtful and nutritious. I have even learned a few new recipes.” MO

During my short stay in Portland I had the opportunity to visit this Nursery School where my grandson, Manu, goes. I was thoroughly impressed by the exemplary manner in which the school is run. It was encouraging to note how the staff interacted with the children and their parents in such a cordial manner and also stress the importance of the parental role in the overall development of the child. Gratefully remember Miss Carrie, Miss Anne . ~ Rex

What our families have to say about us:

"I'm writing this email to thank Brigit's teachers for being so sweet to her while she attended Grandma's place, particularly, Stephanie. She still talks about her everyday and says how much she loves her and frequently carries the card around that she made her. Today she yelled at her dad with the card in her hand "don't ever throw this away, it would make me cry, Stephanie is the best and she made this for me!" and I just about cried! I had a rough time in every childcare center my mom put me in growing up and to know Brigit was so happy when I was away from her makes me feel so good. We will be going to Europe for the summer! And before I started preparing for that, I wanted to be sure to thank you all. Thanks again to everyone for your kindness to my little one, she's had such good (and hilarious) things to say about her experience and grandma's place!"

"I am SO happy with the care and attention my child receives at your facility that I am willing to commute out of my way to get her there, even though there is a daycare across the street from our apartment. Keep up the spectacular work!"

"It's very close to my house, and when I came for a tour, I was pleased to hear about the educational focus--it's not just babysitting, but my child will learn all kinds of skills--social and academic. I also liked that the director was willing to spend so much time showing me around and answering my questions during my tour."

More importantly, what our families have to say about us:

Preschool Spots Available at ChildRoots NW

June 12, 2012

ChildRoots, A Center for Young Children, (www.childroots.com), is an environmental and Art-and-Science-based learning community, dedicated to providing superior child care for children ages six weeks to six years.  ChildRoots, which is located at 50 SE 17th Ave. and E. Burnside, has a new Center location in the Pearl that opened in April.  The new Center, entitled ChildRootsNW, is located at 1740 N.W. Flanders St. on the corner of N.W. 18th and N.W. Flanders St.  The Center is a 9,000 square-foot-space comprised of nine classrooms, with a total capacity for 110 children.  The space was formally a Children’s Creative Learning Center (CCLC) child care, aka KinderCare. Because this space was previously home to another child care center, the remodel efforts and structural changes will be minimal.

ChildRootsNW features a nice-sized outdoor area for play and its very own parking lot. The Center will also have an art lab and a science lab.

Active enrollment for Preschool has begun at ChildRootsNW.

ChildRoots has been recognized by local media including The Oregonian, the Portland Tribune, the Hollywood Star, and Metro Regional Government for its leadership in sustainability.  ChildRoots features organic meals and snacks, locally-sourced food, cloth diapers, non-toxic wooden toys, creative spaces, a Preschool Atelier Program, and play-based learning.

For information about enrolling at ChildRoots NW, please contact Christina or Beverly at (503) 227-2630 to set up a tour.

Little Hands Garden School opening for Fall age 3-5

May 11, 2012

LH_PrimaryLogo-Color-Print

Little Hands Garden School has been called “The best-kept secret in Mt. Tabor,” by the Portland Mercury (Finder Magazine, 2011).  We are an eco-healthy, home-based program with two teachers and between 8-10 students per day.  Our hours are 9-1, M-Th.

We are a play-based preschool supporting children’s right to play and acknowledging play is the primary way through which children learn.  We believe all curriculum needs to be inquiry-based, and modeled upon the interests of our students.  Our schedule
changes daily as we sometimes get so involved in our projects we
forget the time...... which is kind of the goal, really.  We draw from
many pedagogical ideologies but are primarily focused on the Reggio Emilia model of inspiring the child’s innate creativity.  At our school children are free to play, to be outside
with the chickens, bunnies, or in the garden, free to run, shout,
sing, dance, dress up, hug, read, rest, paint, glue, glitter, explore,
dig, hang from a trapeze, get dirty, get naked, and make as many
messes as they want.  This is above all a place for children to be free
to explore the world as they wish.

Lunch and one to two primarily organic snacks, straight from our garden when available, are
provided daily.  Our activities include singing, music, drama, reading, storytelling, puppetry,
art, gardening, outdoor play, dance, yoga, games, baking, and plenty of time for dramatic play exploration.  We also do field trips on Mt. Tabor and to neighborhood parks.  We are outside all day when the weather permits.  In the winter when the weather is not so permitting, we get serious about the drama aspect of our curriculum and create sets, make props, practice lines, and re-enact plays of the children’s choosing.  Our favorite plays this winter were the 3 Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and Abiyoyo.  Video of these plays can be seen on our youtube.com page.  Search LHGardenSchool in youtube or use the following link:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8A06DF8CDB30DB6D

Little Hands Garden School is a state registered preschool and Eco-healthy certified through the Oregon Environmental Council.

http://www.oeconline.org/our-work/healthier-lives/ehcc/index_html

Tuition is as follows, paid monthly:
1 day/wk $160
2 days/wk $320
3 days/wk $480
4 days/wk $600

We accept children ages 3-5.   We look for a long-term commitment when we welcome a new family, as we form a special relationship with each child and don't like to say
goodbye until Kindergarten.

Looking for an affordable loving nanny?

May 07, 2012

Hello. I am a 25 year old mother, and part time student looking for a family in need of a part time nanny.  My family and I just moved, so I lost my job as a nanny, where I was caring for another child along with my own, within my own home. Now I’m looking for a part time child to care for outside the home, where I can potentially bring my own 2 year old daughter with me.

I am highly qualified to be your nanny. Before having my own daughter, I was employed at CCLC “Children’s creative learning center”, as a full time toddler teacher. Before that, I was employed at A Childs Kingdom working mainly with toddlers, and infants. I have worked part time in a few other licensed child care centers, and I’ve been employed as a nanny for two different families. Over all, I have nine years working with children and I love doing it.

I contain an abundant of skills including empathy, energy, communication, listening, playfulness, creativity, organization, multi-tasking etc.

If I sound like I could be a good fit for your childcare needs, please feel free to email me at:

itskatelin@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from you!

Montessori Infant Care Starting This Summer

Room

I'm looking for a little one to join myself and my little girl (born March 25th) in our home starting this summer. We are located on NE 68th and Stanton. I'm looking for a baby who will be between 3-6mths. I'm offering care in my home 4 days a week between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm. I'm willing to share care with more than one family (i.e. two families looking for part time care) but never having more than 2 babies, including my own, at one time. I believe in providing as much 1:1 time as possible and having more than 2 babies at one time does not promote such care.

I have been the lead Toddler Guide at Cedar Montessori School for the past three years http://www.cedarmontessorischool.org/ . My last day was March 9th and am now home falling in love with our little girl and  am providing consultations for The Montessori House of St. John's Infant/Toddler program http://themontessorihouse.org/. I completed my Montessori training at Montessori Institute Northwest www.montessori-nw.org/, have a BA in Elementary Education and a minor in psychology. I'm CPR/first aid certified, have my food handler's card, and am registered in the Criminal History Registry. I completed both Birth and Postpartum Doula trainings through DONA www.dona.org/, regularly attend continuing education classes on early childhood education, and have impeccable references.

My childcare approach incorporates both Attachment Parenting and Montessori methodology. I believe all human beings need to first develop a sense of trust in the person caring for them in order to feel safe and secure in their environment. I am familiar with and very comfortable with baby wearing. I am also tuned into when a baby is ready for some independent time and have a specially prepared space for them to explore. I believe in providing all children with a thoughtfully prepared environment where they are free to explore and learn according to their individual interests with the gentle support of an adult close by. I carefully observe children in my care and will change out materials and introduce new activities according to their development. I am familiar with Elimination Communication, use cloth diapers/underwear, and provide children with the opportunity for independence in toileting. I provide homemade and mostly organic foods, including homemade baby food, and invite the children to participate in food preparation. I believe in providing time outside on a regular basis, even if just for a brief period of time on the coldest of days. I also believe in being silly and playful with the children, playing music, creating art, and participating in imaginary play.

On a personal note: I'm an avid gardener, own chickens, enjoy knitting, quilting, hiking, biking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Our family consists of myself, our soon to be little one, my partner, his 17 year old brother, and a very friendly cat.

We look forward to opening up our home to you and your little one! Please email me with any questions and I'd be more than happy to provide you with my resume and references, as well as to set up a time to meet.

My rate is $11/hr but I can be somewhat flexible

Apple Blossom Nursery School (ABNS) offers a beautiful and peaceful home setting in southeast Portland, Oregon. We balance our program with activities that support your growing child’s gross and fine motor development, with plenty of time to explore their ever-expanding world. Here at Apple Blossom Nursery School, your child is surrounded with environmentally stimulating and enriching activities balanced with nutritional foods and a sense of community.

 8-12:30 ½ day

ABNS is inspired by Waldorf education and specializes in working with children age two and a half to six years of age. Carrie Riley, director, founder and lead teacher of Apple Blossom Nursery School, is a state - and Waldorf - certified teacher with over 20 years experience in child care and 15 years as a lead teacher. She is also state registered. Carrie is mother to three grown children & 4 grandchildren.

Apple Blossom is an ECO certified school. All teachers take yearly continuing education courses to keep up to date on child development knowledge.  AB far exceeds the state mandated 15 hours per year. The average annual training is over 50 hours each!

Of course, all teachers have completed their child CPR & first aide, and a criminal history background check, reference checks & go through a trial 90 day trial period with AB before being hired.

April 08 196

Apple Blossom offers year-round school including aftercare Monday through Friday. We observe the same break schedule as Portland public schools; this includes holidays and inclement weather days.

During the school year we offer delicious homemade organic and vegetarian meals with a focus on nutrition. As the children arrive for school they are welcomed with warm herbal tea and a light breakfast of warm cereal & fruit.
