Part time Nanny needed in SW/Tualatin

February 14, 2012

We are a two mommy family (both working full time) with a 7  year old daughter attending PJA.  We need a nanny who is able to pick her up from school at 3:30 daily (2:30 on fridays) and bring her to our Tualatin home and stay until 5:30-6pm.  There are also possible full days of care for holidays, etc.   She is very sweet and self sufficient but loves to have an adult around to interact with. She has many neighborhood friends and loves to play outside, even in the rain.  We do have a small dog - but there is very little care needed for her.  We need someone who is upbeat, reliable, responsible and has their own transportation and wanting to only work part time through the school year.  Possible more hours during summer break!   We are willing to pay the going rate and have had previous experience with nannies in the past.   We need someone asap!    Please email Debra at mohawk525@yahoo.com.

Loving, one-on-one care in Vancouver

February 09, 2012

Frontroomdaycare1Hello and welcome to Misty's Little Ones Daycare. My name is Misty McCleary, owner/teacher at Misty's Little Ones Daycare. I strongly believe in children being in a safe, home environment during the younger years of their life while they are away from their primary caregivers. I offer just that: While parents are at work, school or out running errands, I offer a safe place with lots of love, learning and individual attention for your child. If you have multiple children, great I welcome them!

In my home, I have created a nurturing and loving environment where children are encouraged to explore, share their interests and to have their needs met. My goal in this environment, is to have it feel like home to the child, so they can feel comfortable and welcomed.

Thaliaonbikefeb2012

While I strive hard to learn about each child's comfort level, I also want to learn about their development and interests to keep them interested and engaged as well as comfortable and curious. I think it also helps the child to boost their confidence of having their needs met when the caregiver understands what those needs are.

I believe in respecting the child from birth as a whole and cuing into their needs right away. This will include using sign language from a very young age, always talking respectful to the child and parents, letting children know what's next and letting children do things for themselves.

Parent communication is essential to building a relationship and to help us better understand your child's needs. I encourage drop-ins, parent participation and ideas you may have. Please feel free to talk to me about any concerns or questions you might have anytime.

We also do a little bit of urban farming. We raise 5 chickens & do a bit of gardening in the Spring!

Experienced, Loving Provider Seeking Family!

Experienced childcare provider looking for a family to work with. I recently finished a short-term position in SE Portland and would love to find a part or full-time position. I have multiple years of experience (total of 10 years childcare experience) working with children ages 0-8. Great families for you to contact that can attest to my ability to be on-time and engaging with children of any age.

I am well-versed in Montessori learning style as well as a bit of knowledge in attachment parenting. Comfortable with cloth diapers (assisting with diaper laundry and children's laundry as well) and feeding expressed milk as well. I'm flexible, easy-going and a great communicator. I am happy to provide a daily rundown of what we did, etc.

I'm cpr/first aid certified, have taken the RRCAN class, am in the process of completing my food handlers certification, and am enrolled in Oregon Criminal History Registry # (for working in a childcare center). Previously background checked through DHS for 3 years, open to having background check run as well as having two through reputable childcare sites (sittercity.com and care.com). Non-smoker, valid license/insurance and reliable vehicle for transportation (Plymoth Neon, seats 5 total).

Engaging and active; I do multiple activities with children from sensory play (shaving cream, paint, play dough, etc.) to arts and crafts with older children. Familiar with assisting in school-aged learning, assisting with writing/reading, spelling, abc's, 123's, colors, shapes, etc. Primary focus working with children ages 0-6.

I can and will take your children on outings if you would like, am able to assist with errand running/shopping if necessary as well as light household chores (dishes unloaded or loaded, light sweeping, child laundry/room cleanup, etc.). I love going to the park even if it's wet, and love to puddle jump!

Available for any weekly schedule, weekends as well.

If you're interested, please feel free to email me with all pertinent information such as: your care needs (frequency, total hours, daily schedule if varied), a bit about your family/children (names/ages/a bit about them) and what you are expecting to pay.

My hourly rate for locations within 15 miles of my home is $11.50 per hour, for 1-2 children. I base my price on your needs, family size, as well as location and am slightly flexible with families that can provide me with stability as I can for them. :)

For inquiry/interest please email educatoralicia@gmail.com or call (971)-217-8414. If I do not answer please leave a message; I usually do not return calls without one, since I am not aware of who was trying to reach me or if it was a wrong number. :)

Thanks!

In-Home Child care just over the river

January 28, 2012

Hello.  I am providing care just across the river in Vancouver.  I run an in-home child care with a very small group of children.

  Kitchenset

“The e nvironment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.” -Maria Montessori

Children benefit from being able to explore the environment around them inside and outside.  This includes having materials available for them to learn about, touch, explore and for it to be safe to do so.  I believe in making materials for the children to use from ordinary items at home.  This can include anything you might find in the recycle bin: bottle caps, boxes, paper, toilet paper rolls, jars etc.  While outside children should be free to learn about plants/trees, watch animals and insects and run free. This can be done by taking nature walks, exploring the backyard or simply bringing in items from nature to use for projects or simply to observe.  We also do bike riding, digging in the sand box and drawing with chalk.

Frontroomdaycare1There are many reasons why parents might need to find a provider to care for their children.  I provide a safe environment in my home with a loving and nurturing caregiver who is very patient and understanding.  I believe in respecting the child as a whole and this will include how I talk and interact with them.  For example letting children learn to feed themselves, pouring milk or juice, answering questions the child might have or just simply giving the child encouragement when trying to accomplish a goal.

I also offer respite care and was a former respite care worker with the State of Washington for families that have children with special needs.  I have experience working with children with: Autism, Down's Syndrome, ADHD/ADD, blind, deaf, non-walking/cerebral palsy, Sensory Integration, drug addiction and children that need more social interaction in general.  I also have training in several different philosophies including: Montessori, RIE and Reggio.  I try and incorporate the children's art work into our environment along with pictures of the children in play.

I also bring with me:
*Former Preschool Teacher
*Current CPR & First Aid Certification
*Montessori Training

OPEN HOUSE:

Wednesday January 18th, 6-7:30PM

Your family is warmly invited to the Montessori Children's House open house on Wednesday January 18th, 6-7:30PM.  Our open houses provide an opportunity for prospective families to meet MCH staff and explore our environment.  We are currently enrolling for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years.

IMG_7184

We currently have openings for Toddlers (15 months - 36 months) and Primary children (3-6).

Montessori Children's House offers both  Toddler and Primary Montessori programs.  Located in Portland's newest neighborhood, the South Waterfront, we are still relatively 'undiscovered.'

We have mixed-age groups -- a Toddler Community (for children 15 months - 36 months) and two Primary classes ranging from three years (or a bit younger) up through kindergarten age. In 2010-2011 we had one primary class; this year (2011-2012) we have expanded our program in order to run two Primary classes.   We are enrolling children now and do not yet have a waiting list.  Remaining spaces are limited, however, especially in the toddler community.

Check our website for information about our Summer Program.

'We toured a total of six schools before we found the right one for our daughter. We even enrolled her in another one prior to Montessori Children's House only to pull her out because we were disappointed in our experience there. I wish that we had discovered this school sooner! It would have saved us a lot of stress.'

'The space itself is gorgeous, all new, beautiful learning areas, just what you would imagine a top notch Montessori school to look like...The location on South Waterfront is very easy to get to and from, parking is right in front of the main door and the teachers will even greet the kids at your car. We highly recommend Montessori Children’s House!'

Infant/Toddler nanny seeking new family in inner pdx

January 08, 2012

Hello,

My name is Wendy and I have been working in the child care industry for the past 3.5 years, however, I have over 10 years experience caring for children, including raising a step son.  I have passed a National background check and Oregon's background check for child care workers. I am First Aid/CPR Certified and have obtained 400+ hours in Early Childhood Education. There for I am confident that I have the experience and the qualifications that you are seeking in a caregiver.

Most of my experience is with wobblers and toddlers (1-3 year olds) as this is my favorite age group.  I do however; have experience with children of all ages. I have cared for children on a one-on-one basis and in a group setting.   I am a mature individual seeking a long term part or fulltime position.

I am a very fun loving and active nanny.  I believe that children, especially babies, are learning and absorbing things all the time.  I enjoy fostering this learning and natural curiosity by stimulating them with fun and educational activities.   I also enjoy taking them on walks, setting up play dates, taking them to any classes that you might have them signed up in, and other age appropriate outings.

I am pet friend, have experience with expressed milk and cloth diapers.   When the time comes I also have experience with potty-training.   I believe in little to no television, I make sure that all schedules are followed, I encourage verbal skills by talking and reading to the children, and I try to get out of the house once a day.

I generally charge $12/hr for one, $14/hr for 2, and $15 for 3, but I am willing to negotiate to fit your budget.    My rate includes light housekeeping, generally centered on the children.

I have a resume, references, and many more details to give.  Please contact me at pwhobear@gmail.com, atyour earliest convenience.

Thank you,

Wendy

Fun, Creative Nanny for the New Year!

December 20, 2011

I am a Nanny that will be available in early January. I have letters of recommendation upon request and a resume as well. I have years of experience with children from my background being a counselor and a jr. counselor at YMCA day camp and week-long camps. I was a first year mentor at my university in Ashland, where I mentored and provided resources to first year college students. I was also an advocate at the SOU Queer Resource Center.  I have been trained in first aid, I have my food handlers card, and a valid OR drivers license.

My experience doesnt stop there as I have experiences watching and caring for my good friends' children. I have baby sat infants to teenagers and I know how to balance what children need with what they want. I am extremely trustworthy and a very loyal person, especially to the families I work for. Once I have sat for a family they want to keep me for years.

I can cook light, healthy, and especially balanced meals. I can make snacks and have arts and crafts time and even mix play time and learning time together! Learning and laughing I find are often one in the same.

I can guarantee you will be satisfied with my energy towards children. Baby sitting in Ashland, OR, taught me so much about patience and sending a child on their own journey through the world. I try to teach your child self love and self esteem building among many other things.

I am going to school for Anthropology (cultural) and Art currently. I have experience being an English tutor and Math tutor as well as knowing basic French and I am learning ASL. Along with my academic accomplishments I am skilled in housekeeping, cooking, hair styling/cutting/dying, makeup design, photography, and music. When I graduate with my degree in Anthropology I plan on traveling and studying the dynamics of families in all cultures. The relationships between families, lovers, and children is what interests me the most. How people balance their lives to raise a child and teach it all about life from their perspectives.

I am available as soon as Friday December 6th, 2012.

When contacted I can email my resume and provide signed letters of recommendation in person. My name is Cassandra and I look forward to meeting you and your family!

New home day care/preschool in NW Portland - native Mandarin Chinese teacher

December 11, 2011

Untitled Document

Portland Language Art (PLA) is a new child care facility in NW Portland. It is located off Cornel Rd and NW 102nd Ave, cross street from Cedar Mill Elementary School, just outside of Forest Heights. PLA owner/operator Lillian Sun has a child care license and will open Jan 2, 2012. Lillian is a loving and caring mom, who has two boys (4 and 6). More than three years ago, when Lillian was frustrated by finding her older son a good quality preschool, she started to have this idea of having her own child care/preschool. In past three years, Lillian has visited many preschool programs, attended early childhood workshops, and done research on preschool education. The result is Portland Language Art, a new child care/preschool facility that provides children an opportunity to learn a foreign language while he/she plays in a clean, healthy, safe and creative  environment that supports learning and creativity. PLAis planning to provide multiple foreign languages in future (which helps brain development and  allows the child to develop an interest in learning another langauage). For the time being, as Lillian is native Mandarin speaker, she will provide Mandarin teaching. In doing her research on preschool teaching methods, Lillian was highly influenced by the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches. She has designed a program that will be Montessori based but Reggio inspired --- mixed age group, each child has own curriculum that allows the child to progress at his/her own pace, but will utilized more visual arts and music which enhance  creativity.

Licensed family child care in NW Portland taking kids 6 months - 12 yrs old

November 20, 2011

Portland Language Art (PLA) is a new child care facility in NW Portland. It is located off Cornel Rd and NW 102nd Ave, cross street from Cedar Mill Elementary School, just outside of Forest Heights. PLA owner/operator Lillian Sun just received her child care license and will open Jan 2, 2012 (can take child sooner if you need). The result is Portland Language Art, a new child care/preschool facility that provides children an opportunity to pick up a foreign language while he/she plays in a clean, healthy, safe and purposely prepared environment that supports learning and creativity. PLA does plan to provide multiple foreign languages in future (which helps brain development and prepare child for global market). For the time being, since Lillian is native Mandarin speaker herself, she will provide Mandarin to children. In doing her research on preschool teaching methods, Lillian was highly influenced by Montessori and Reggio Emilia approach. Lillian has designed in her mind that her program will be a Montessori based but Reggio inspired preschool program --- mixed age group, each child has own curriculum that allows child progress at own pace, but will utilized more visual arts and music which helps creativity.

NE Nanny/Sitter available PT/FT through January

November 05, 2011

Hello!

I'm a 27-year-old experienced Nanny, seeking PT/FT and babysitting opportunities in NE Portland through the end of the year. I've lived in Portland for 3 years, working primarily as a Community Mentor for developmentally disabled adults, while volunteering with the Y.W.C.A. as a Learnlinks tutor for refugee children. I've had the chance to work with a diversity of kids in Portland, from Boise-Eliot SUN School to an after school program at Cathedral Catholic school in NW. I also have experience working with children with autism. I'm originally from Minnesota, and graduated with a degree in Mass Communications and English at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I love kids, art projects, the outdoors, cooking, gardening, reading and languages. I'm looking for the right family to create and connect with, and if we're a good match I can start immediately. Email me at jsodomka@gmail.com. Thanks!

You Should Hire Our Nanny!!!

October 17, 2011

Do you need a fantastic nanny to fill any gaps?  Might you be looking for great care for your child for a few months while you wait for your son or daughter to get into daycare? Or maybe you only need a few days/hours a week?  Our fantastic nanny will be looking for a new family to help starting at the end of October, when our baby heads off to daycare.  Ideally, an interim type of position would suit her best because she is looking to move in the coming year.

She is the sweetest, warmest, most competent nanny you could find.  She has years of childcare experience (has worked in childcare centers and for families), is CPR certified, and is quite possibly the world’s tidiest person!  She is completely dependable, easy going, open and honest.  We have been thrilled to have her on board, and she has made the transition back to work so much easier for me.  Our little guy’s face lights up as soon as she walks into the room!  I can’t recommender her highly enough and she will definitely be missed!!!

If you have any questions, feel free to comment here and I will get back to you.  Or email or call her directly at: lilu_jade22@yahoo.com or (503)453-6658

Part-Time Nanny (Downtown PDX to West Linn)

October 12, 2011

Seeking warm, loving, intelligent part-time nanny from 4 p.m. to 7 or 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Routine would involve picking our 8-year old daughter up from school (near PSU), take her home (West Linn), prepare dinner, have some transition-to-bed story/play time and very light home care (e.g., folding laundry or doing dishes while she reads). A good candidate will respect children, be patient, kind and hard-working. We are a very close-knit family that values our time together but needs a little help to juggle work and school. We love music, reading and biking. Our daughter plays piano, guitar, violin and ukulele and wants to learn more foreign languages (she is fluent in Spanish and English). Ideally, this position would be long-term, with expanded summer hours. If you are a student, we are flexible during exam weeks if you need time off. $12-15 depending on qualifications. Please reply with a brief description of your qualifications. Permission to check references, criminal history and driving record is required. If you do not drive but feel you are highly qualified, taking the bus may be an option so let us know. familyswartz@gmail.com

Want a Spanish-speaking nanny?

Hola! I am Natalie, and our Cuban nanny has a niece looking for work. She speaks minimal English, which is great for your babies to learn Spanish, but means you need some basic Spanish to communicate with her. I have only taken a little bit of Spanish lessons, and find it's okay; I can communicate. If you need help initially, like with an interview, I am willing to help with that.

She is from Cuba; she is about 30 (I'm not actually sure what her exact age is); and she has experience and references working as a nanny. Her name is Damaris. Email me for her phone #, nataliepdx at g mail

Nuts About Nature Classes for Fall 2011 (Ages 3-8)

September 14, 2011

The squirrels are nervous about our appearance - chattering angrily at us! Armed with magnifying lenses and bug boxes and spoons, we hunt and explore for whatever is lurking under rotting logs, in the bark of trees, or near the water's edge. We hike and sing and hear stories about nature, but we also create our own stories as we go - pretending to be hungry hawks chasing songbirds or coyotes on the prowl for lunch. We do not shy away from the rain, but rejoice in it with puddle stomping and soup making. We are young and energetic and curious - we are Nuts About Nature!!! Does your child want to join us?

There's still space in our SE Portland Nuts About Nature fall classes!!! For eager & curious 3-4 yr olds (Mondays or Thursdays) and 3-5 yr olds (Fridays), we offer "Lil' Nature Kids" - a small group class that includes exploration, songs, stories, and nature play. For children a bit older (4-5 yr olds) we have "Nature Preschool" (Tuesday mornings or afternoons). Nature Preschool combines developmentally appropriate preschool skills and activities with a weekly nature theme. Children learn ecological topics using hands-on activities, art, music, exploration and play. For children already in elementary school, we have "Nature's Playground" - a class for 6-7 yr olds that focuses on the needs and interests of older kids, primarily stealth games, exploration, theater, art and nature play.

Check out the full brochure online at www.portlandonline.com/parks/preschool. Contact Chrissy Larson with questions by email at chrissy.larson@portlandoregon.gov or by phone at 503-823-1149.

Looking for Nanny Share in SW Portland/Beaverton

August 26, 2011

Looking for a Nanny Share Family and Nanny

I am looking for a nanny share situation for my wonderful 2 yo old and 5 yo boys. I am re-entering the work force after 3 1/2 years of staying at home with my 2 children. My oldest boy will be attending kindergarten in SW Portland so the nanny/family would have to be OK with a commute to pick-up/drop-off depending on the schedule. This will be about 35 hours a week and could be in my home or another. My boys are fantastic together and LOVE science and playing/exploring outside. Looking for a flexible, nurturing, dependable nanny and loving family to share with. If you are interested please e-mail me at hahnvmd@gmail.com.

Thanks!
