Part Time After School Nanny Needed

March 11, 2017

We are looking for some after school care for our 5 year old daughter. This is a super part time gig, with potential opportunity for increased hours over the summer, and date nights.

For now, we are looking for a nanny to pick up our daughter from preschool at 3:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, until about 5pm. Wednesdays may be a little shorter, as I'm often home by 4:30 pm.

This is probably an ideal position for someone who lives in the Sellwood neighborhood, or nearby. This could work for someone who doesn't drive. Bus line 70 is near her school, and there are plenty of activities in the neighborhood to walk around and explore (library, coffee shop, park, etc.). Our house is about a 20 minute walk from her school. If you do have a reliable car, we can provide you with a high-back booster.

Please e-mail (kimbd@pdx.edu) with your resume, 2-3 references, expected pay range, and availability to meet for an informal interview. Our daughter is an outgoing, energetic, funny & bright kiddo. We look forward to hearing from you!

High Quality Nannies Whenever You Need Them!

December 13, 2016

Portland-nanny-logo

Hi UrbanMamas!

I started an on-call nanny agency a few months ago, Portland Nanny. We specialize in emergency, back-up and intermittent childcare needs. I started this company because I am a stay at home mom who needed quality care irregularly and had trouble finding QUALITY care exactly when I needed it. So, I started Portland Nanny.

Child home sick from school? Regular childcare fell through? Need a date night sitter? That is where we can help! We do it all. I essentially have 3-5 nannies on call at all times.

ALL of our nannies are EXCEPTIONAL. I would trust them all with my children, and do! They are thoroughly background checked, infant and child CPR trained, have years of experience in childcare (with references to back up that they were exceptional!), and are seriously just awesome.

Let us help you when life happens! Everyone deserves quality childcare, no matter how last minute or how infrequently you need it!

Part-Time Nanny Needed in SE Portland

October 24, 2016

Hello! We're looking for a caring, dependable, education/play-oriented part-time nanny for roughly 25 hours a week. Our two children are 7 and 4, and love arts and crafts, music, books, and being outside.

The schedule is M/W/F after school, and all day Tues/Thurs. The location for care switches weekly between our 2 houses, dad's in South Tabor and mom's in Woodstock. Some very light housekeeping would be helpful--mainly just cleaning up after craft time, etc., and some meal prep (really just snacks and lunches).

We'd love to know a little bit about you, your child care philosophy and methods, and how you see yourself a great fit for joining our family. Compensation is negotiable, but hoping to land around local average pay. Please email Brian at bk@fatpause.com if interested.

Looking for After School Nanny to start in March

January 29, 2016

Hello!  We are looking for an after school nanny to pick up our almost 5 year old and our 4 month old from Tiny Revolution Montessori School beginning in March.  The schedule would be 10 hours per week - from 3:30-6pm, Monday - Thursday.  Tiny Revolution is on MLK between Tillamook and San Rafael, and we live on SE 46th Avenue between Stark and Belmont.

You must have experience taking care of two kids and previous infant care is required. We would love someone with an appreciation for Montessori and RIE principles. We try to create a certain amount of predictability for our kids while also allowing them to choose what they want to play, explore, and learn. Assistance with light housework such as unloading the dishwasher, getting a simple dinner started, putting in a load of laundry, or tidying the kitchen or play areas would be great.  You will need your own car and a clean driving record.

We have previously participated in a nanny share and absolutely loved the experience! We are open to chatting about what works best for all parties and are happy to provide further details about our family and the schedule in person or over the phone. Pay is $14 per hour. Please send any questions or a cover letter and a resume outlining your experience to Ashley Cartmel (ashleycartmel@gmail.com)

My childcare approach is one that values loving presence, healthy attachment, emotional intelligence / healthy expression, and creative exploration. I love to play outside all times of the year. I enjoy cooking healthy, wholesome, organic meals. I am tidy, and always leave spaces better than I found them. My days and times are currently flexible, though I would love something consistent. I have a strong community of friends, and many of them nannies, so I could likely support the transition when the time comes by helping find my replacement (though no guarantees). I am currently training in Mindfulness / Body-Centered therapy and will be moving into a career as a counselor in the next couple years. I have found my work with children feeds that work and vice-versa. My background is also in yoga, mindfulness, and meditation, and I love finding subtle ways to bring that into children's lives. Activities I love to share are: going on adventures in nature, even if only to the park or around the block, making music or teaching songs, going to see fun shows or to museums, doing seasonal crafts with recycled & / or natural materials, reading or making up stories, dance parties, yoga / stretching, cooking projects, & more! I have a car available for use, it can fit two car seats. I am insured and have a clean record.

I love reading and learning about alternative childcare, so if there is a topic or a book you are particularly passionate about, I would likely be more than happy to read it in my spare time, and incorporate it in my work.

Please email me with your interest Jengold23@gmail.com - I would love to hear about you & your family, your values, what neighborhood you live in, & sending pictures is always helpful! Please do not email me for full-time work as I am not interested or available. Please note: I am in school one weekend (including Friday) a month, so if you need consistent care on those days, I am not able to meet that need.

FYI - my rates begin at $15 an hour, and increase by $2 for each additional child. I am happy to provide references upon request.

Thank you for reading. Be well.

PT Nanny needed in NE PDX

September 06, 2015

We are looking for an after school nanny for our 4 year old daughter and 9 year old son. An ideal candidate would be someone with experience who is responsible, enthusiastic, and nurturing.

The hours are at a minimum Monday and Wednesdays, 4-6:30pm with an option for 7:30a-8:30am those same days +/- Thursdays. Additional hours likely available nights and weekends for events that come up.

We are two healthcare professionals with demanding schedules on the days that we work. We are looking to find reliable and nurturing care for our kids in our absence. Our daughter is 4 and in preschool. She is imaginative and loves to sing, dance, and play dress-up. Our son is 9 and in 4th grade. He is into basketball, legos, and playing with friends outside.

Job duties include picking up kid(s) from school / bus stop, coming to our house and supervising activities, helping getting them started on homework/chores, and driving them to activities (we provide car). Pay starts at $13 per hour. A 9 month commitment is preferred, but flexibility for more hours during school holidays or summer break would be amazing!!  We do have two french bulldogs, so a love for animals would also be great:)

If interested, please let us know a little about yourself and past experience. Before hiring an applicant, we will also request a resume & reference list, as well as require a background check and review of your driving record.

Pay is $13 per hour to start.

Please respond by email if you are interested and we can arrange a time to talk by phone and/or in person.

Nanny/Babysitter wanted for 2015/16 school year and beyond

August 05, 2015

We are looking for an after-school sitter/nanny starting in September in NE Portland (Beaumont neighborhood). We have an almost 8-year old boy (2nd grade) and a 6-year old girl (1st grade) at Alameda. We are flexible on days, but ideally want someone at least three days per week from 3-6-ish. You must have your own safe transportation, and a clean driving record. You would primarily pick kids up from school, shuttle to activities, and assist with homework.

In our perfect world, we would find a college student who would then want to transition to full time in the summer months (but not a requirement). Please email me at jillgbonnin@gmail.com if you are interested.

Thanks!

Jill

Experienced Nanny Available

August 03, 2015

My name is Kit and I am a 31 year old queer nanny, artist, and student with 13 years of childcare experience. I have cared for children ages 0-13 and specialize in infant and toddler care, though I am very comfortable with all age groups and enjoy spending time with older kiddos too! I am looking for a temporary but stable position that will end (or reduce hours) when my Fall term starts at PSU towards the last week of September. I am currently available until 4:30pm on Tuesdays and anytime on Thursday and Friday until the end of August and then my availability on Fridays will change to mornings until 2pm when my current childcare position switches back to the school year schedule. Tues and Thurs will remain the same until my term starts. I would prefer to work 6-8 hours per day and I am able to offer a sliding scale of $14-17/hour for one child, with my scale increasing from there for two or more. I have a safe and reliable vehicle and drive children several times a week on outings, to camps, and other activities like athletic practices, etc. Preference given to families in NE/NoPo or close-in SE.

I am especially excited to work with other GLBTQ families and/or folks who are open to the wonderful diversity of people that exists here in Portland.

A bit more about me: I am originally from the Midwest and have nannied in Minneapolis and Baltimore before moving to Portland in 2011. I was a live-in nanny for two years in my early 20s and even went on tour with a punk band as a “road nanny” a few years back. I’ve worked in both a preschool and in-home setting and have knowledge of early childhood development as well as many different child-rearing philosophies. I use this knowledge and experience to create a safe, happy, fun, and nurturing environment for growing children to learn and explore. I am also available to help with sleep training and other challenges that may come up!

I am available for occasional babysitting as well—please feel free to get in touch if that is of interest!

I have an extensive resume and several excellent references that I would be happy to forward if it seems like it could be a good fit. email: leahkitkogan @ gmail dot com

Is Au Pair Childcare the Solution for You?

January 14, 2015

Hosting an au pair offers a flexible and affordable childcare solution for thousands of U.S. families.  Au pairs provide up to 45 hours of childcare for about $360 per week per family (not per child!)

Might it be a great option for your family too?  Answer these few questions to find out:

-Are you interested in childcare scheduled around the needs of your individual family?

-Do you have an interest in other cultures and sharing american culture with a young person from abroad?  Would you like your children to benefit from a cultural exchange as well?

-Do you have an extra bedroom or a space that could be adapted into a bedroom?

If you said yes to these questions you might be great host family for an au pair!

Since 1989 Cultural Care Au Pair has placed over 90,000 au pairs in homes with U.S. Host Families.  As the largest sponsor provider of au pair services in the U.S. we have thousands of au pairs available from over twenty countries worldwide and a team of experience professionals to find the right au pair for your family.

Nanny Sought for part-time share in SE, 12:30-5:30 Tues-Fri starting ASAP

January 12, 2015

Hello! We have a wonderful nanny share arrangement set up in Woodstock in SE Portland. Our current nanny has had to make an emergency move back to the Bay Area, so we are seeking a creative, energetic, attentive caregiver to step into her very capable shoes as soon as possible.

The hours are 12:30-5:30 Tuesdays through Fridays (total 20 hours/week). You'll care for two 3-6 year olds during those times-- sometimes two families participate with one preschooler each, and sometimes it's just our family with two siblings (a preschooler and a kindergartner). Our home serves as the base but there are lots of fun activities in the area (library, park etc).

If this schedule works for you and this sounds like a good match, please introduce yourself via email to Ruth at rjwikler@gmail.com. Thanks!

looking for part-time nanny work

January 05, 2015

My name is Jenni & I have been involved in child care for as long as I can remember - I first started when I was 12 & am now almost 26. I have mainly been doing part-time childcare for 1-3 year olds the past few years & have some, but less, experience with infants & elementary/middle schoolers.

As a nanny, I really enjoy bringing loving empowerment with subtle, yet helpful, boundaries. I am on the path of doing some sort of mindfulness-based therapy work, so I really like to help build emotional intelligence in children by engaging them to put words to their feelings & find healthy expressions that do not minimize their experience... I also love to go for walks, explore in nature, sing songs, read or make up stories, color, & make up games that utilize & expand imagination. I value healthy, organic foods & a deep reverence for the Earth. The best gift I can offer to children is my practice in presence & loving attention.

My rates are $14/hr for 1 child, $2/hr per additional child. I am also very open to a nanny share in which I would ask $10/child. I am looking for part-time work ONLY. References available upon request. Thank you! Please email jengold23@gmail.comMaxx&me

Sample weekly schedule: Monday - Thursday, 2 pm - 5:30/6 p.m. Average approximately 14 - 16 hours per week. While not required, we'd also request nanny care from 8 - 10 a.m. one Wednesday per month, to accommodate Portland Public School's late openings. The nanny's responsibilities will include school pick-ups, preparing snacks, tidying up play and meal areas (with children's help) and encouraging activities that promote the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of the children, including outdoor play and art.
