Preschool has openings for 2 years and older

Munchkin Manor is a small home based preschool in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood (close to Woodstock as well) which currently has openings for children 2 years and older. Our daily schedule includes circle time, music, movement, stories, outside activities and craft projects. We also have monthly themes that incorporate age appropriate content and are geared to children’s natural interests. We cover many basic preschool skills in our daily routine--including things like counting, literacy (introductory reading and writing skills), and the all-important skill of learning to be part of a community.

I am a licensed elementary teacher (taught 6th grade math and science until starting a family) and have 2 children of my own. I also have varied experience working in preschool settings (Montessori, Reggio Emilia). I am a certified family child care center which means that I have been checked with the criminal history registry, I am CPR certified, I provide healthy meals and snacks, and I meet all safety and health regulations set by the state.

If you would like more information, give me a call or email me.

Creative Experienced Nanny Available

I am a 32 year old college-educated writer, artist and nanny with 4+ years of childcare experience. I am seeking a full or part-time position with a family beginning in mid-June. I am CPR/first aid certified for infants, children, and adults. I practice positive discipline and use some principles of attachment parenting. I have experience with kids from 3 months to 8 years old. I enjoy spending time outdoors as much as possible, going to the park, the library, and OMSI as well as rainy day art projects. I provide a safe, nurturing environment for kids to explore their imaginations and be themselves.

I have recent experience with infants, and I am comfortable with baby-wearing, cloth-diapering, and breast fed babies. I am eco-concious and socially concious and looking for a family who is also. I ride a bike instead of driving a car, so I'm comfortable using public transportation with kids. I identify as queer and transgendered and I want to work with a family that is queer and trans-friendly.

My rates are $12/hr. for one child. I'm open to nanny share, and rates for more than one child are negotiable. Please contact Jesse at theredferngrows@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you soon!

Need a nanny share? (SE preferred)

We are a inner SE family (Sellwood) with an excellent nanny that we want to share part-time or full-time.  She is experienced with all age groups and has cared for infants including our own.  The mom from our family we share with has decided to stop working.  Please contact Tara at macey@vancouver.wsu.edu for more information.  Expected start date as soon as mid June.  Thanks!

Help Complete a Select Group

I realize that you hear this a lot: my daycare is the best, your child will be happy here, yadda, yadda.  But what I do is not only different but unique.  I am small enough (only six children) and select enough (my references after twenty two years in the business speak volumes) that I actually create a family learning environment.

I always attempt to find just the mix of children at different learning levels.  I have graduated over a hundred children to kindergarten and would like to enable your child to enter school one day reading and writing, understanding not only their numbers but how to use them.  I balance learning with play and because of the size of the group, I am able to give almost individual care to your child.

To help complete my group for the fall, I have two openings (two graduates moving on!) for the following ages: a four to five year old and an opening for a child three years old.  The positions are full time only (we have a regular program we follow that helps your child better acclimate to school in the future).

Fabulous Summer Nanny Available

Hello! I am an experienced nanny, babysitter, and preschool teacher who is looking for a summer nannying job that can possibly continue into the fall.

My experience with kids is very broad! I'm 30 and have six years of experience teaching or nannying in the area. I get along well with kids because I treat them with the respect they deserve, yet discipline with kindness. I'm a musician and a crafter who shares that passion with kids. I lean toward the Waldorf side of education, meaning I believe kids should spend their time creating and imagining. When we're not playing outside or doing creative things at home, I love to take them out and do fun kid things with them. I'm a nurturer by heart.

I'm happy to provide you with references. Also, attached is a photo of me. It was taken by a 4-yr-old who I nannied for last summer!

Please send me an email and tell me a little about your family, your needs, and where you live. My name is Ellie and I can be reached at: elliewink@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you!

Part-time nanny/sitter needed

Our wonderful sitter is taking a full time job and so we are looking for a part time (1-2 days a week) nanny starting ASAP. Our daughter is 28 months old and is very creative and loves to be outside. We live in SW Portland/Cedar Hills area. We would consider a nanny-share situation with other families. We are looking for an experienced sitter, non-smoker, preferably with their own car. I work out of the home on Wednesdays and Fridays and we need someone to come and watch our daughter while I work. Very part time, most likely around 6-8 hours/week, possibly more. Please respond with rate and previous experience, or if you are interested in a nanny share to jennifer.rana at gmail.com.

thanks!!!

How to find the best nanny or nanny job absolutely free

Step1

If you're a parent looking for a nanny whether a live in nanny or a live out, write down the following:
1. The tasks you wish the nanny to perform on a daily basis. Be descriptive as possible. This is a very crucial step for two reasons: (A). avoid disappointments from nannies not performing what you'd expect. (B). Limit your search to nannies who are willing and capable of performing those tasks

Step2

2. Contact your close circle of family and friends to see if they know of any available nannies. Remember, we're dealing here with the most important job interviews you'll ever do - you better want to have someone with references of people you closely know.

Step3

Check the free classifieds like craigslist.com or http://www.nannytoyou.com .
These are today's number #1 sources for recruiters. If it's good for them, then it's also good for you. At the end of the day, it'd be your judgement who to hire. Avoid paying agencies as much as possible. This is one of the most common mistakes people do. Those agencies find the nannies exactly through the same sources you would, so why pay for it?!

A Beautiful Day Montessori Announces Openings for Fall 2009

My son’s fabulous preschool, A Beautiful Day Montessori Preschool in NE Portland, has some openings for Fall 2009 for children ages 2 ½ - 6, and I want to help get the word out!

Mariah Stewart-Hencke, the AMI-trained guide & director, is superb with small people and has created a calm, appealing classroom that houses a wonderful mix of dynamic, intriguing things to do and peaceful, contemplative space. There’s a complete set of Montessori materials & creative supplies, a big outdoor greenspace (they trek outside in just about all weather), organic snacks, and a neat combo of independent and group exploration & discovery. We have been so very happy with and impressed by the high caliber of the guidance, instruction, care, and environment.

What we love most is how our child (now age 4) has blossomed the past year. After a short stint at another preschool that was an okay-but-not-incredible fit for him, he has really found his place at this in-home preschool with a teacher who is guiding him through amazing leaps in social/emotional, academic/intellectual, and personal growth. We're so glad we transferred him—phew! What a joy to find a preschool that is a great match.

Currently, the school offers a four-day program: Monday through Thursday, 9am-12:30pm. The website has lots of info and will give you a good feel for the place: http://www.abeautifuldaymontessori.com Or call Mariah directly at 503-358-7335, or email her at info [at] abeautifuldaymontessori [dot] com . Hope this info helps parents looking for that “amazing fit” for their child!  --Caitlyn H., happy parent

Occasional Nanny Available!

Hello!

I am a birth/postpartum doula, LMT, artist/musician, and childcare provider seeking occasional work. I prefer to work in N, NE or close-in SE. I've been providing compassionate childcare now for 5+ years. I have experience caring for people of all ages in a variety of capacities and have recently been caring for children ages newborn to 10 years old. It is important for me to find families with whom my values align so that I can be optimally consistent and supportive. Below is an explanation of what that means to me in terms of childcare and postpartum support (for birth doula info, please call 503-318-6957):

*Consistency with communication, boundaries, and expectations including the use of Non-Violent Communication skills, honesty, natural consequences, redirecting, and a good balance of structure and free-flow.

*Holistic health centered lifestyle - eating vibrant, whole and organic foods (I'm supportive of special diets - vegan, gluten-free, etc.), getting fresh air, exercise, using eco-friendly products, reducing, reusing and recycling.

*Creativity and expression - Imaginative play, art projects, music-making, dancing and reading.

*Critical thinking and open questioning, cultural sensitivity, progressive gender critique, exploration of the inner and outer worlds.

*Cultivation of intuition and self-esteem.

~I am supportive of attachment parenting, breast-feeding, co-sleeping, and LGBT families.

~I would prefer a TV-free (or occasional movie only) environment so that the focus can be on activity rather than passivity.

~I do not have a car, but I am happy to pick children up, drop them off, take them out, run errands, etc., with your car. I also like to walk, bike and bus to get around.

~Childcare rates for hourly are $12-15/hr. Rates for postpartum doula services are $16-20/hr.

~Fantastic references are available upon request.

Please call or e-mail me with questions, etc.

Thanks!

Smart, Creative, Fun, Nanny Available

Dear Mamas of Portland,
I am a experienced nanny with over four years working in childcare.  I am looking to work part-time to nanny for a wonderful family that shares my beliefs of utilizing creative play while providing a healthy and loving environment.

I am a trained Waldorf Preschool Teacher with experience working extensively with infants and children 1 through 14. I enjoy teaching and playing activities such as  puppetry, singing, dancing, art, nature walks, gardening, reading, and more. I will provide duties such as diapering cloth or disposable, feeding, light housework, and of course playing. I currently have a flexible schedule and am open to interviewing families.
You may call me at 858-692-9445 to talk further.
Best Wishes,
Lana Jay

Experience:

For four years I have baby sat for multiple families where I have supervised
the children’s safety, nutrition, and activities. During this time I discovered
I wanted to branch out and combine my passions of teaching and art for larger
groups. That’s when I decided to volunteer at the Children’s Art Museum. I
taught art, reading, and the basic fundamentals of attentive listening. I was
so inspired by that experience that I started teaching forestry classes with
small groups of children ages three to five at the World Forestry Center. I
organized activities such as educational games, art classes, and outdoor hikes
in the Arboretum. At the Forestry Center I was recommended by the head forester
to become a Camp Counselor at their Leadership and Forestry camp. I was in
charge of directing thirty children ages thirteen to sixteen to a strict daily
routine which involved extreme awareness while multi-tasking. These valuable
experiences have given me the opportunity to converse with children of all ages on a one-to-one or big group
level, listen to them, and tend to the beauty of their growth.

I have three openings... one immediate opening!

I have been operating a pre-preschool in my close-in NE Portland home for twenty-two years.  This year, I am graduating three of my students to kindergarten (the class of 2009 marks my one hundredth graduates).

What I offer is rare among daycares in Portland.  A small select group of six children who engage in regular school activities (which is not only excellent training for the children  but for  the parents as well) with instruction in the arts and language as well as organic gardening.

If you are in need of immediate care before August/September, I have a parent that is relocating which opens a rare spot beginning immediately.  The position is for a full time student (and a school-age 5-7 year old sibling on summer break).

I am located close-in to downtown with access to Max and public transportation.

We truly and deeply care about our future generation's happiness and their responsibility to themselves and the future of our community. To us, a community is environmentally and socially aware/ just, close-nit, caring, sustainable, and festive. Therefore, we have an environmentally conscious, culturally diverse, anti-bias/ anti-racism foundation.

Our curriculum is the way we celebrate a year of our lives in Portland and is based on placemaking and community. We celebrate what it means to be from the Pacific Northwest and what it means to be "me"and how that all comes together in COMMUNITY.

We embrace enriching philosophies such Montessori, Waldorf, unschooling, attachment parenting, Non- Violent Communication, unconditional parenting, and Original Play. Combined with our own special magic/charm/sparkle a comfortable, compassionate, fun, and enriching community thrives. Our teacher to child ratio enables us to be flexible with the various needs and interests of each child. Preschool aged children experience age appropriate enrichment in a home-schooling environment.

Great nanny available

Hello!

My nanny is amazing and looking for afternoon hours. I only need her in AM. She takes care of my 4 month-old son, but would be great for any age. She has taken care of kids up to 11 yrs old.

She has great experience nanning, including working as preschool teacher and working with girls to gain confidence and self esteem. She is 30 and has six years of experience teaching or nannying in the Portland area. She treats kids with the respect they deserve, yet discipline with kindness. She also is a musician - who teaches violin lessons - and a crafter who shares that passion with kids. She like to play outside or do fun things at home. She is a nurturer by heart.

An ideal situation for her would be Tues/Wed/Thurs afternoons, but there is some flexibility. She has great references.

Please feel free to contact her at elliewink@gmail.com

Creative and Loving Nanny Available

Need Summer Childcare?

I could be just what you need!

My name is Hannah, I'm 21 years old and I have professional experience with children from age 2 1/2 to 12 years old. I have my own vehicle, live in NE Portland and love being around, teaching and helping children. Any type of enrichment makes my day.
In my own family I am the oldest of all my siblings and cousins and have always been the one to take care of them. My youngest sibling is 4 years old and we are very close.

I love being around children of all ages!

I have been babysitting for 8 years, worked and volunteered at a spring camp for 4th graders, taught art to 2nd and 3rd graders, helped in 4th and 5th grade classes (math mainly), and currently work for a Montessori with 2 1/2 to 6 year olds. I've seen it all, haha. I really enjoy being able to take children outdoors and into nature, to the zoo, OMSI, etc.

I have not officially held a nanny job, but I am looking to work for a family with up to 3 children from mid June to late August if possible and preferably 30 - 35 hrs a week if possible.
I have a resume and references, CPR/First Aid certifications, food handlers and more in depth information about the previous and current positions I have held professionally over the last few years working with children.

If you are interested and want any more information that will hopefully make you want me as your summer childcare option, please let me know and feel free to ask any questions that may come to mind.

Part-time, in-home care for 2 year olds--N Portland

Hi there! I will have 2 openings available in my home as of September 1st, 2009. I currently care for my daughter and her dear friend who each just turned two. We are looking for some playmates to join us in our fun days to come! I use a gentle, natural approach to their care and create healthy daily rhythms, giving them comfort. I believe that parents and caregivers should work together concerning their children’s care, and I want parents to be very involved. I am CPR certified, and have an Oregon Food Handler’s Card. I provide 90% organic snacks and lunches each day. Our typical days include singing and dancing, story time, art projects, outdoor play and walks to the park (2 blocks away), imaginative play, peaceful naps, potty training, no TV, and lots of hugs! We are hoping to add field trips in the fall, and this is the reason for the age request.

Hours of operation will be 7:30-4:30 Monday, Wednesday and Friday. At this time we are taking 2 part-time applicants at a rate of $135 a week.

I would love to talk with you and go into more detail. I know how difficult it is to find daycare you can feel confident about, and it is my hope to provide that for you. Please email me if you are interested!  Have a great day!

Nanny seeking family to work for!

Hello,

My name is Annie, I am a student at Portland State and I am looking for some kids to care for over the summer. It is possible I could start now, and work after the summer, it is just a matter of my school schedule and being able to work around it.  I am an art major, with a desire to go into photo journalism.  I have been CPR/first aid trained, but the CPR training has expired, I would be more than willing to get it reinstated.  I was a nursing student for some time, so I also have that knowledge.  I have worked in nurserys with newborn babies all the way up through junior high level. I have also nannied for a family who had two boys. I cared for them from the time they were 4 months and 2 years till the time they were 3 and 5 years of age. If you would like to see a resume please email me at al.sciscente@comcast.net
If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me!
 Thank you for your time!

Nanny Seeking Family (Montessori Friendly)

Hello!

If you are seeking an energetic yet calm and patient, positive and environmentally friendly individual, I'm your lady! I have worked with 2 and 3 years olds for the past 7 years and with infants 3 months-18 months for the past 3 years.  The last 3 years I have worked in a Montessori school and have become to love the philosophy it carries.  I will be ending my time there the first week of June and will dedicate the summer for a family who would like a full time nanny for the summer.  I plan to attend a Montessori program in September of this year that lasts until May 2010.

Some of my favorite activities to do with children include cooking vegetarian food and gardening, reading books, singing songs and fingerplays and visiting local parks.

Some logistics about me include:
*Infant/Adult CPR and First Aid certified
*Enrolled in Criminal Registry Program
*Own a reliable car with a clean record
*Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies

If you are familiar or would like to become familiar with a Montessori style of practice with your children I would love to embrace the practice together.  If not, that is okay, too, what ever works for you :- )

I will be available 8am-7pm Monday-Friday starting June 8.  My rate is $10 for 1 child and $12 for 2.

I am happy to answer any questions, provide references or to just talk about the day regarding your little one(s).

Thank you for reading!

Warmly,
Jenny

Hello, I am a first time mother looking for FT childcare options when I return to work in September.  We live and work in inner-SE and are hoping to find something close to us.  We are open to any options including nanny sharing with another family in the area.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Mentor Graphics CDC opens to the public

Mentor Graphics Child Development Center welcomes families with children, 6 weeks to 5 years, in an innovative, creative, learning community providing  full-day, year-round care and education.  We are welcoming community enrollment for the first time in our 18 years of service for our Fall 2009 school year.

Inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy; we create a responsive learning community that emphasizes the building of relationships with ideas, materials and people.  We nurture the whole child with a deep respect for the natural timelines of children, rich and complex learning opportunities and each person’s competent and capable participation in their own development.  Located in Wilsonville off I-5.
