Nanny available in Portland

Some of you may recognize me from my post several weeks ago. I received many responses, but my situation has changed and I am now looking for a full-time arrangement.

I am a 21-year-old girl who finished her degree at PSU in December. I am now looking for a live-out nannying position with a family in Portland. I really enjoy being around little ones and am comfortable with children from infant to preteen age.

I have 11 years of experience as a childcare provider and have had many different arrangements with parents and their children. I have been a "mother's helper," a once-in-a-while date night babysitter, a nanny for a nurse, and a "mom for the weekend" for parents who hadn't had more than a night away since their second was born.

For personal transportation, I ride my bicycle, which is an Xtracycle. I ride safely and defensively, don't ignore traffic laws and can haul 2 children. If you're more comfortable, I can drive your car; I have a clean driving record. I'm also very comfortable getting around with TriMet. I love taking little ones on field trips, or staying in and doing fun projects together.

I grew up in a breastfeeding and cloth-diapering household and so I am comfortable with both. I have experience cooking organic, vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, gluten-free and local foods. I'm also good at warming up leftovers or frozen food! I would be willing to perform cooking and light cleaning tasks, so long as they are well-defined and I am compensated accordingly. I am certified in infant and child CPR.

My hours are flexible, but I would ideally like to establish a consistent weekly schedule. I would prefer families within inner Portland, but would be fine with a family on a major transit line. I would also be willing to discuss a nanny share.

If you're interested, please send me an e-mail at paigecolbert@gmail.com and we can get in touch. I have many references; Just ask and I'll be able to give you contact information.

Preschool on Peninsula Park (North Portland)

Rivendell Preschool is a registered family child-care center. I offer a full day program, from 8:30 -5:30, to provide a dynamic learning experience for children of parents who want to be able to go to their jobs knowing that their little ones are thriving in a safe, nurturing, loving and natural environment. Every day, I post an entry summarizing the day’s activities: the books we read, the songs we sang, the art we created, the highlights of our outings, the antics of the rabbit…I include pictures and sometimes short video clips. Parents don’t have to guess and wonder about what their children are doing all day.

Rivendell welcomes children ages 3 to 5. It is designed to be a bridge between the cozy family and later school environment, where children gradually learn how they fit into larger groups, how to work and play together, make friends, and prepare for kindergarten or first grade.

Respect and Kindness are the two fundamental values I seek to model and encourage regarding others.

Creativity and Integrity are the two fundamental values I seek to model and encourage regarding oneself.

Rivendell is an old house with hardwood floors. It has a big light living room where most of the action happens, an art studio in the basement, a garden in the back, and a wonderful park right across the street. Almost all of the toys are made from natural materials, the food is organic, and there is no TV.

Read more about Rivendell at rivendellpreschool.com and contact me to schedule a visit.

Looking for family for part-time nanny share

Hi! We have a fabulous nanny that we would like to share with another family a few days a week. Jessy is a caring, nurturing nanny that has been watching our almost-18 month old daughter for about 6 months. We would love to find another family that has a child of a similar age that would like to join Jessy and our daughter a few days a week (ideally M, W, and Th). We live in the Laurelhurst neighborhood and Jessy currently works for us between 7:30 am and 4:45 pm. If you're interested and would like to talk further, please get in touch with me at jen.wigal@gmail.com.

Availability in NE paygroup/nanny-share, March 2009

Our close in NE playgroup/nanny share had one or two openings available starting in March.  We are three families with 3 year olds who weren't quite ready for preschool because of late in the year birthdays, but we still wanted our little ones to have the socialization and the benefits of preschool activities. So we have a wonderful creative nanny that comes to one of our homes from 8:30-12:30 on Wednesdays and through play and exploration or kiddos get a great learning day and the parents get a morning off. Our nanny has excellent refrences and I have known her as a childcare provider for over 3 years. She is fun and dedicated and the children love her leaps and bounds.  The price for is $20 for the 4 hours.

Some of the activities include...storytime, dancing and music exploration, nature walks, art time, and lots of imaginative play.

If you are at all interested and would like to chat a bit more, please email ddstubee@gmail.com or ebholla@lycos.com

The Little Cottage Preschool in Beaverton

Play-based with a child-centered approach!  We are currently participating in a program through Neighborhood House's Child Care Community Fund Program which is providing us with super parent support and staff enhancement.  This can be seen in our program in a number of ways including scholarships for parents and staff incentives for increasing their core knowledge in Early Childhood Education (currently the majority of our staff already have their Bachelors Degrees).

We have space available in our preschool program and our infant center.  We are not your typical sterile-looking center.  We are located in an old house that was gutted out and remodeled into a private school.  Our site is well-used and well loved.

Give us a call at: 503-626-1061 to schedule a tour.

Seeking feedback on Bethany Village Montessori

I am trying to find some reviews on Bethany Village montessori.  Anyone on this forum know anything about Bethany Village Montessori first hand or know someone that has their kids at Bethany Village.  Any info would be much appreciated.

We toured the place but there is only so much you can get from being there for 30-45 mins.

Thanks,

Haritha

Seekng in-home childcare for infant

My daughter is expecting her first baby early in March and will have to return to work when her baby is eight weeks old.  She is looking for in-home infant care three or four days a week near her job which is just off hwy 26 at Cornelius Pass Road.  Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.  Also any comment about the benefits/liabilities of in-home vs institutional care.  Thank you.

Babysitter/Nanny Available in Portland

Anyone in Portland looking for either a regular babysitter or a nanny? I'm a 21-year-old girl who finished her degree at PSU in December. I'm pursuing an internship that would begin in May and am looking to make ends meet between now and then.

I have 11 years of experience as a childcare provider and have had many different arrangements with parents and their children. I have been a "mother's helper," a once-in-a-while date night babysitter, a four-day-a-week overnight nanny for a nurse, and a "mom for the weekend" for parents who hadn't had more than a night away since their second was born. I really enjoy being around little ones and am comfortable with children from infant to teen age.

I grew up in a breastfeeding and cloth-diapering household and so I am comfortable with both. I have experience cooking organic, vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, gluten-free and local foods. I'm also good at warming up leftovers or frozen food! I will discipline (or not) based on the way you parent your children.

My hours are very flexible, as long as I'm given adequate notice.

If you're interested, please send me an e-mail at paigecolbert@gmail.com and we can get in touch. I have many references; Just ask and I'll be able to give you contact information.
