SE Mom seeking 3-day childcare/nanny for sweet 2 1/2 old boy

I have a sweet, active, social guy on my hands who I think could benefit from a more active setting.  We live in Sellwood with access to great parks and the community center. I'd love a nanny who could take him there, as well as to the zoo and OMSI, or a nearby childcare provider with engaging play, music, etc.  He is not potty trained yet, unfortunately. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Childcare Swap in Inner North Portland

I am a work from home mom who is about to start doing a little more work away from home. I'm hoping to exchange childcare with someone nearby who has a child of a similar age for one or two afternoons a week. My daughter is 14 months old, friendly, and fun. She loves books, toys, puzzles, blocks, songs, being outside, and more. She will be a little shy at first but gets more comfortable with time and support. Our home is a fun place for little ones to play and we prefer natural toys--natural fibers, wood, etc. and eat mostly organic or local foods. We live near the border of Overlook and Arbor Lodge, a few blocks from Arbor Lodge Park. Please contact me if you are interested: Hannah -- hwq76@yahoo.com

Loving, Experienced Nanny Available

I am a 25 year old nanny with several years of experience, and will be looking for work starting in early February. I graduated from Reed College in December of 2005 and have been working full-time as a nanny ever since. I've been working with children since I was in high school, and have experience with most ages of young children. I've cared for the same set of young cousins in Portland for the past year and a half, starting when they were 5 and 9 months old respectively. They've recently transitioned to daycare, and I've been caring for the newborn infant from one of the cousin's families. The newborn will be joining the older girls at the same daycare in February and I'm seeking a new family to work with. I would prefer to work M, W, Th, Fr so I can continue working with my current family on Tuesdays, but I understand that that may not be an option. I'm open to working as part of a nanny share situation. I have loved my time working with children and would like to continue in this field before eventually attending grad school. In my work I enjoy time outside, creative play, reading, and art projects. I can provide many references and a resume detailing my experiences with the different families I've nannied for.

Please email me at chandler.jenrette@gmail.com if you're interested in meeting. Thanks! Chandler

part time childcare needed for almost 3 y/o and 5 mo. old

I am in need of part time childcare for my two boys - almost 3 y/o and 5 month old.  Right now, I only need someone to care for them 1x/month for about 2 hours.  It would be on any Tuesday from about 11:30 to 1:30 pm.  I am open to someone coming to our house, going to a center or doing a swap with another family.  There may be a possibility of adding hours in the afternnoon.

We live on the east side, but I am open to taking them to other areas in the city.  If anyone is interested or has any ideas, please email me at ldininger@msn.com.

Loving, creative and playful nanny needed for 3 busy boys

Mama is going back to work in early January and our family needs an active, creative and experienced nanny for our three lovely boys, ages 9 months, 3 years and 5 years.  We live in SE Portland between Hawthorne and Mt. Tabor areas.  Our parenting philosophy combines Attachment Parenting, Love and Logic and behavioral approaches.  We require childcare references; background check; infant CPR (prior to start); experience with caring for boys; and a genuine love and passion for caring for, teaching, playing and exploring with young children.  Baby-wearing and cuddling required!

Hours are approximately 50 per week, salaried, with benefits.  One year commitment with long-term potential highly preferred.  Responsibilities include take/pick-up from kindergarten; care, feeding, changing, napping, children's laundry and daily clean-up; and developmentally-appropriate activities including daily outings, i.e, library, playground, Children's Museum, zoo, etc.

Please contact Staci at stacimoritz@gmail.com with letter of interest, resume and salary requirements.

St. James Lutheran Church

Downtown working mamas, just want to rave about St. James.  They accept infant to Kindergarten and now have preschool openings.  Rates are not cheap (preschool is $885 for full-time preschool) but they have very tenured and qualfied staff.  There is a curriculum but it's very low-key.  They are affiliated with the church but there is no religious instruction and they are gay-friendly.  It's also wonderful to be able to hop on over for lunch (if you work downtown).

Small preschool has openings for children 18 months and older

Munchkin Manor is a small preschool in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood (close to Woodstock as well) and currently has openings for children 1.5 years and older. The daily schedule includes circle time, music, movement, stories, outside activities and craft projects. The curriculum is driven by themes that are geared to children’s natural interests. Many basic preschool skills are covered in our daily routine--including things like counting, literacy (introductory reading and writing skills), and the all-important skill of learning to be part of a community.

There are no more than 6 children on any given day and currently I am the only teacher. I am a licensed elementary teacher (taught 6th grade math and science until starting a family) and have 2 children of my own. I also have varied experience working in preschool settings (montessori, reggio-emilia). I am a certified family child care center which means that I have been checked with the criminal history registry, I am CPR certified, I provide healthy meals and snacks, and I meet all safety and health regulations set by the state.

If you would like more information, give me a call or email me.

babysitter or temporary nanny available

Are you looking for a fun, caring, reliable babysitter or temporary nanny? Someone who will sing silly songs to your baby, blow bubbles with your toddler, or do craft projects with your preschool or elementary school child?

I am currently a full-time nanny for a wonderful 10 1/2 month old girl. The family will be on vacation, so I am free from Thursday, Dec. 18th - Sunday, Jan. 4th. I am looking for either temporary nanny or babysitter positions. I am flexible with my scheduling, so I am available during that time for anything from one time, occasional, or full-time care. You could use my services while you do some holiday shopping, entertain out-of-town guests, or even during your child's school break. With a bit of notice, I am also generally available for babysitting on weeknights or weekends.

A bit about me: I am the mother of a 9 1/2 year old girl (who I share with her father and will not be bringing with me). I was a Girl Scout leader for 3 years, so I am full of silly songs and fun craft projects. I have a safe and insured vehicle, so I have reliable transportation to work. I am studying to take the Bar to become an attorney, so I am well educated and able to help your older children with homework or studying if needed. I have undergone criminal background checks by the Girl Scouts and the Oregon State Bar.

As for my general childrearing philosophy, I tend to pull my beliefs from multiple sources, especially attachment parenting and Montessori. I believe in soothing crying babies and have experience with cloth diapers, feeding with breastmilk, and babywearing. For toddlers and older children, I believe in learning while playing, silliness, and redirection if needed. Although I am flexible, I do believe that children thrive with some consistency and structure.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss things further, please feel free to contact me. Thank you!

Seeking daycare/preschool for Shy, sweet, 3yr old, SE

We just moved to the area and are looking for affordable childcare in the SE area for our daughter, Sarajane. In-home or small group would be great! Sarajane loves to play outside, paint, and care for animals. She was in a private daycare in Olympia that was run by a friend of ours and is really missing her pals. We are looking for Tues - Fri, roughly 730-4ish. Affordable a plus.
Please email me at napalm.beth@yahoo.com if you know anyone who fits the bill.
Thanks so much!

How can I find a "Mother's" (parent's) Day Out program?

I'm new to the area and I'm wondering if there are any local Mother's Day Out programs?  It is for my 2.5 yo daugther.  I'm not interested in part-time day care, just 2-3 hours once or twice a week.  And, I'd like a group setting, not a babysitter in my home.  I'm aware of the co-op preschool programs and traditional preschool programs (most of which do not begin until age three); these don't really meet our needs at this point either.  I'd be appreciative of any suggestions.

Seeking childcare for 2.5-month old in January

I will need daycare 4-5 hours a day for my infant beginning around Jan 5. I am willing to consider various formats, including in-home, out-of-home, nanny-share. I need someone who will play with her - reading, taking walks, listening to music, tummy-time, massage, etc. Please contact me if you are interested or have any ideas for sharing care.

Available: Toddler Care in NE

Hi Mamas,

I am a Mama of two little girls (3mo. and 2 years) looking to care for 2 toddlers in my home 2 or 3 days a week starting at the beginning of January. We will be outdoors as much we can and we will go on many neighborhood outings.  We love to read books and do art projects.  We feed our toddler as much organic food as possible and would do the same for yours.   I am a certified Elementary School teacher so I have plenty of experience with kids.  I also am a fluent Spanish speaker and would be happy to work with your little one to learn some basics.  My preference is to do M-W-F but the days of the week and hours are flexible if we can find the right situation.  Please give me a call or email if you are interested!

Looking for Full-Time In-Home Care

We are looking for full-time in-home care with a licensed provider in NE or North Portland for our 3 year old son.  He is not potty-trained. We are currently using a Center that is excellent, but just isn't quite working for our son. We moved back to Portland 6 months ago after many years living out-of-state and could use help finding a setting that fits our needs.  We are pretty experienced with seeking childcare and have used a nanny and nanny-shared as well as an in-home provider between our two sons.

Ideally, we would like a provider who has a degree in early childhood or a lot of early childhood on-the-job training and experience.  Someone with this background who wants to stay home and take care of children as a profession would be fabulous. We especially value high quality meals (not processed), flexible but stable routines with a variety of activities, daily outdoor play, consistent discipline, library and regular reading times, NO TV or video games.  We could begin in January (we must give 3 weeks notice).

If you know someone who fits this description, regardless of whether there is a current opening, can you please email me:  tinaanctil@gmail.com.  Thank you!
