Beaverton area infant care sought!

I am looking for care for my infant son (due early October) beginning in January.  I will need 2-3 full days of care per week.  Open to variety of scenarios, including in-home care, nanny-share, or a center.  Main consideration is high-quality care in a non-institutional feeling setting.  Support for breast-feeding and cloth diapering a plus!  I live and work in the Cedar Hills area of Beaverton (near St. V's Hospital), but am willing to travel a bit for the right situation.  Any ideas, referrals, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nicole

Toddler Play Group in NE Portland

A couple of us mamas are starting a play group in NE Portland and we're looking for a few more kids to participate.  The group is for toddlers aged 18-24 months (with a little wiggle room on either side).  The group will be supervised by a play group teacher, who has a great deal of previous experience working with young children.  The group will consist of a lot of free play, with some story-reading, singing, outdoor play, art, music and other semi-structured activities.

The group will:

  • include only 4 children
  • be 4 hours long
  • be held twice a week (although once a week participation is ok if it's your preference),
    cost $5/hour/child.
  • The groups are hosted by 2 of the families who are participating, and parents do not attend the group (Yeah!  Free time for mama and/or papa!).

Please email me soon at palight_2000@yahoo.com if you'd like to learn more, or if you know this interests your family.  Thanks!

Help Finding a nanny

Our family will be looking for a nanny in a few months and I am new to this adventure.  I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with Rose City Nannies?  A friend of mine recommended them but I wanted a bit more feedback before I decided which agency to go with.  If you have any recommendations please help!

Looking for a sitter for 9 days in August

Hello! I'm going back to work next month after primarily being a SAHM for 7 years. Our family needs a babysitter for the following Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in August-12th, 13th, 14th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th & 28th. The hours will probably be between 8AM-4PM.

Our children and 7 and 5 years old and very self-sufficient. This is not a nanny position and we don't expect you to haul the children around town or constantly keep them entertained. We also don't expect you to clean anything...the kids should clean up after themselves. We live near a park and a mall and the kids just love riding scooters or walking around the neighborhood. We also have a pug that is very sweet and loves to cuddle.

Our family is low maintenance and enjoys a good sense of humor. We would appreciate that from you as well. This is a perfect opportunity for a teenager or college student with some free time looking to make some cash for back-to-school.

We are offering $375 cash for all 9 days, payable half on August 20th and the remaining half on the 28th. In addition, we will provide a small amount of spending money to go out and have snacks and such.

If you are interested, please send us an e-mail at booju_mooju@yahoo.com telling us about yourself and why you think you'd be a good fit. Resumes are helpful and we will require references.

Wonderful Nanny available on Monday and Wed - Close In

Anyone experienced Village Child Care, LLC near Legacy Emanuel?

Hi--I'm a mama to 3 boys, ages 4 months, 2years, and 5 years.  I recently toured Village Child Care, LLC across the park/street from Legacy Hospital.  Does anyone have any comments on the quality of the care or any experiences to share?  I'm very nervous about care anywhere for my infant---have never done center-based care for a baby before.

Thanks!

Do you need a nanny?

Hi!

I am available immediately for full time nanny work.

I have references upon request.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Mama Available for PT Childcare, Thursdays & Fridays

Hello!

My name is Ashley. I have a 10 month old son named Hayden and am looking to help a mama out. If you are looking for childcare between 1:00pm and 7:30pm I would love to help you out. I do work, but I am off by 12:30pm every day, regular days off are Thursday and Fridays in which I have even more availability. I would really like to have a friend for Hayden while  we're home together in the afternoon so I'm looking for a baby within a year of him. I live right next to Somerset park on 185th, and we have a few duck ponds in my apartment complex so Hayden and I spend a lot of time outdoors. If you would like to talk and see if we'd be a good fit, my email is ashleyncrowe@hotmail.com.

Take care!

Need PT Nanny for 18-Month Twins/NE Portland

We are looking for an intelligent, patient, loving and organized nanny to work 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We live in NE Portland in the Boise-Eliot neighborhood (about one block from Irvington).

Requirements include childcare experience, excellent childcare references and CPR certification. A genuine interest and enthusiasm for children and their development is a must. We do our best to keep our house in order and it is an absolute must our nanny do the same. Our babies are very active, so it is also important to be in good shape to keep up with them!

Nanny Share: What to pay?

Thank you for your fabulous website which I reference quite a bit. My sister and I are doing a nanny share starting the end of this summer. We hired an excellent candidate but now an issue has come up about how to pay her. We were thinking of paying her between $13-$15 an hour (for two children, ages 2 and 8 months) because of her experience and qualifications but were assuming this would be on the books and we would be able to declare the childcare expenses. She, the new nanny, was thinking it would not be on the books as she has always been paid under the table before. However, she is new to Portland so all her nanny experience was in another city. I am wondering what other people have done so I can compare situations. I didn't know if I could post this directly or not. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Seeking Childcare Wednesdays 3:30-6:30pm for 16m.o. boy

I am seeing care for my son on Wednesdays from 3:30-6:30pm while I work.

He is almost 17 months old, pretty easygoing (in the words of his other caregivers), happy, etc.

I am seeking:
1- a mama with a young child who wants to watch him for trade or reasonable pay
2- a nanny or babysitter share
3-a babysitter (high school? college student?) at our home for reasonable pay

Preferrably you'd be in SE; we are in outer SE near 205, and I work close-in Division, so anywhere between the 2 would be fine.

You wouldn't believe HOW LONG I've been seeking a sitter, or how DIFFICULT it has been. I am so willing to do a trade or pay the right person...we cannot afford $15/hr but $10 would be reasonable.

Thanks so much,
Christine

NE Portland Seeking Daycare Aug 4-22

We're seeking part-time daycare (approx 9:00 am - 3:00 pm) for our 12-yr old daughter the three weeks August 4th - 22nd.  Our 10-yr old son would also be there the week of August 18th.  Our daughter loves art and soccer, and would be happy with someone to hang out at the house with during the day, and maybe take some excursions to the local pool, park etc.  Our original summer daycare plan didn't work out, so we're looking belatedly. We're in NE Portland (Beaumont area), nice neighborhood with lots within walking distance, can also make a car available.  Please call Jill and Tom at 503-708-3294 if interested, and we can find a place to meet and talk particulars.

Seeking PT live-in nanny

Kiddo needs an energetic caretaker while I work. I need someone on Mondays and Wednesdays with occasional nights and weekends. We live near MAX so a car is not needed but a valid drivers license is required. We have OMSI and zoo passes and encourage nanny to go on outings with kiddo.
Your living space is the top floor of my house with your own gorgeous bathroom. You also have a shared kitchen and living room downstairs.

I pay you per hour for childcare and also on-call hours. If you can provide these hours then rent is much less than your pay.  My current nanny is leaving to pursue her career with more hours at school and her other job. We need someone in September or October 1st at the latest.  Background check required. Email with any questions you have. nancyzink@hotmail.com

Looking for a preschool recommendation for 2 year old girl

Hi,

My husband and I originally planned to start our daughter in preschool at three, but we recently found out that we're pregnant (happy surprise) and now want to start her in the fall.  She'll be 2 years and three months in September and she's not yet potty trained.   Does anyone know of a good preschool that might work for our situation?  Preferably in the NE?

Thanks!

FT Nanny Needed in NE PDX

We are looking for a full-time (M-F 8-5) with some flexibility, long term (at least 1 year) nanny to take our kiddos on fun adventures around Portland and smother them with love.  We have a 3.5 yr old boy and an 18 mo old girl. I work from home and travel about once a month so there may be some longer days when I am out of town.  However, we will know well in advance when those days are. My husband works up at OHSU as a fellow so he isn't around much for kiddo care.

We are looking for someone who has worked full time as a nanny in the past and can be creative with planning activities for the kids to do.  We have a membership to the Zoo and will most likely get one to OMSI. We live within walking distance to Grant Park, the library, grocery stores, and the MAX.  Our last nanny was with us for about 2.5 years and we were heartbroken to have to move away.  We just moved here from Denver, CO two weeks ago.  We encourage playdates with other nannys and their charges to keep everyone happy and are open to suggestions on activities.

It would be preferrable if the nanny has her own car as my 3.5 yr old will be starting pre-school this fall and will need to be dropped off and picked up.  However,we could try and work something out if you don't have a car.   We offer competitive pay based on experience and fit, some paid holidays, bonuses and raises.  We will check references and criminal and driving records.  Please contact me if you are interested.

Inner SE Childcare/Childswap/Advice Needed

Hello Urbanmamas,

As an Urbanpapa, I am coming to you to find childcare or some advice:

My wife and I are looking for some at-home or out-of-home childcare for our two girls (2.25 and 4.25 years old) in inner SE.

The problem is that the hours we need are kind of odd:  We need care from 11-ish to 2-ish Tue, Wed and Thu. We're flexible with the hours and even the days, but we need the care to be around lunchtime in general.

We're looking for a childcare swap, drop-in, at-home, sitters or any suggestions.

We both work part-time so we haven't had to do any daycare yet for the ladies, but I need to work a little bit more, so here I am.

Sooo...if you know anyone, or have advice for us or if you want to meet up and see if we're compatible for a swap or for straight care, shoot me an email.

Thanks,

-- Dylan
