Native Spanish Speaking Nanny or Daycare Desired

My wife and I are going to be having a baby boy in October and my wife is going back to work full time and I am in graduate school full time. We both speak Spanish and want to raise our boy bilingual. We are looking for a Native Spanish speaker either as a nanny or a daycare center or place that offers a Spanish language environment. I know there are some immersion programs, but they don't usually allow infants and we would prefer to have a native speaker. Any information would be very helpful and appreciated. My name is James and my wifes name is Angie. You can reach me at (503) 593-9583 or email me at lowney13@gmail.com We live in SW Portland almost in Beaverton.

Mama/Teacher looking to care for another toddler in NE

I have decided to stay at home next year to take care of my almost 2 year old and my newborn (she will be born in late August).  I am looking to watch another child in my home starting in October or November who is around my toddler’s age (she will be 2 years on September 30th).  As happy as I am to be home with her, I don’t want her to be at home without a playmate during the day.  I would love to find someone around her age to care for full-time.

I am an elementary school teacher and have also worked in a pre-school.  I am a fluent Spanish speaker and would be happy to incorporate that into our days if that is something you are interested in.  We don’t watch TV and spend as much time as possible outdoors.  We try to eat organically as much as possible too.  We live in close-in NE just off Alberta.

Please email me or call if you are interested!

Anyone Have Experience With Joyful Learning Preschool

I am looking for information about Joyful Learning Preschool in NE Portland.  It looks great on the Website and the director was wonderful on the phone.  I have a visit set up soon, but would love to hear personal experiences with this preschool.

Happy little group of friends looking for an infant - 2yr old to join us

I provide care for a great little group of friends here in my home in close-in NE right by Emanuel Hospital (near MLK and Morris.) We love to dance and sing, read books, do puzzles, do simple art projects, play in our baby-room, playroom and our great big back yard.

I serve healthy home cooked meals and am able and willing to accommodate special dietary needs.

I was a nanny for ten years before becoming a mom myself and have been providing care here in my home for the past five years. I can provide many loving references.

I charge $35/day and am available Monday - Friday 7:45am - 5:30pm.

Feel free to email me if you are interested.

Spanish Speaking Mother Turned Nanny

Dear fellow Portland families:  I have worked as an elementary school teacher and preschool teacher and I am now looking to care for a preschooler in your home, along with my infant son (I would prefer to bring my son to work with me about 2/3 of the time).  Talking with your child in Spanish, teaching her or him about young children, and doing lots of fun, hands-on activities are some of the things I look forward to doing while I am caring for your child!  Please email Becky at pdxnanny4preschooler@hotmail.com.

Nanny Share available: NE, PT, Fall 2008

We have found a fantastic nanny to take care of our 5-year-old and 20-month-old daughters on weekends and evenings when we need extra help. She's a grandma who's energetic, fun, nurturing and knows everything about kids. We all love her so much in fact that I want to pull my toddler out of daycare in September and have Ariel, the nanny, watch her instead. The only problem is, at $12 an hour, she's a lot more expensive than daycare. Coupled with my 5 yr. old's Montessori tuition, it's too much. But, splitting the wage would be do-able.

If you work Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and would like to have your little one(s) join my daughter for a fun day with a great nanny, let me know. The care would start in September (when the kids in one of the other families she takes care of go back to school). It could take place at our house, yours, or both. We live in the NE, just blocks from Grant Park, Hollywood library, grocery stores, etc. We also have an organic vegetable garden and a large, well-stocked playroom with a train table, art easel and play kitchen,  plus a library's worth of great kids books (one grandma is a children's librarian).

Ariel has extensive experience with children of all ages and offered structured playgroups for several years. She would offer fresh, nutritious, organic meals (she's got my kids gulping down carrot juice!) and an assortment of developmental activities throughout the day. If you're interested, e-mail me at dcentoni@yahoo.com.

Available: PT Nanny Share in N/NE PDX, Summer/Fall 2008

We are hiring a part-time French-speaking nanny and would like to include another family with child(ren) age 4-6 to keep the cost manageable.  We live in the Piedmont Neighborhood in N/NE Portland and are open to having the childcare in our home, in your home if it’s nearby, or a combination.  We have a pet-free home with a large park and community center located about a block away.  We are planning for about 5-10 hours per week for approximately $6-$7 per hour per child, and we have some flexibility right now on days and times.  If you are interested, please email me at PiedmontParent [at ]ymail.com with some info about what would work for your family.

Or, if anyone is interested in sharing in-home French lessons for a small group of 2-4 children, (1-3 times per week, 45 minutes to an hour, $8-$10 per lesson) we are open to that too.

Thanks!

Seeking FT Nanny, Sept 2008, SW Portland

We are looking for a fulltime nanny to help out with our two boys, 3 and 6, in SW Portland. We are looking for a fun, energetic, reliable and organized person with a love for young children and willingness to help around the house with light housekeeping, help with meal preparation, errands, etc.  Nanny will be responsible for afternoons and some early evenings after preschool and first grade as well as all school holidays and mornings if one of the boys is sick. Seeking PT infant care, SW, Jan 2009

I'm trying to do some "plan ahead" research for childcare.  We are expecting our first baby in early January 2009 and I'm trying to find out what the options might be daycare starting around March 2009.

Looking for infant daycare in SW portland (Hillsdale, Multnomah village area) for about 2 days per week at the most.  Baby will be about 12 weeks old when I go back to work part-time.  The problem is that my work starts at 7AM so I would need to drop off by 0630 or 0645AM at the latest.  I would also consider a coop daycare situation since I only have to work 2 days per week.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thank you.

Nanny Share in Hillsdale Starting End of June

Hi Mamas. My son and I have a great nanny, and we need someone new to share with when our current share baby graduates to daycare at the end of June. Jessica is here from 8 to 6 Monday through Friday. She and the babies play inside, play outside, read books, walk to the park and the library, and have a fine time together. Jessica is a gem, with lots of experience, and she's great at wrangling two kids. The arrangement has been working wonderfully for four months now, and we'd like to keep it going. We even have a double stroller.

We’re hoping to get someone who also needs full-time care, with a child pretty close to my boy's age (b. 9/29/07) though that's not a deal-breaker. Our house is in Hillsdale, near Wilson High School, and has a big fenced yard and a playroom with a fireplace. We like books better than tv and don't eat neon-colored food. We also have two cats.

Come meet us and see if we fit. You could start June 30th.

Creative, Compassionate Nanny Available

Hello,

I am a birth/postpartum doula and childcare provider seeking a part-time position (two days/week, 12-16/hrs per week), beginning in June. I prefer to work in N, NE or close-in SE. I would also love a position that is flexible enough to allow me to attend births once in a while. I've been providing compassionate childcare now for 4+ years and have been a doula for 2 years! I also worked as a pre-natal massage therapist for a year at Zenana Spa and in my own practice. I have experience caring for people of all ages in a variety of capacities and have recently been caring for children ages newborn to 10 years old. It is important for me to find families with whom my values align so that I can be optimally consistent and supportive. Below is an explanation of what that means to me in terms of childcare and postpartum support (for birth doula info, please call 503-318-6957):

Bilingual Summer Nanny

Give your kids a summer of cross-cultural immersion and fun! I am looking for a family to nanny for from mid-June to late August. Recently back from spending two and a half years in Nicaragua as an environmental education Peace Corps volunteer, I am currently a teacher in the Vancouver School District. I wish to put my Spanish fluency and degree in Elementary education to work for your family – I truly love children and teaching. I work with the inquiry-based based method of learning Spanish. For example, we’d go to the zoo and learn about their favorite animals through fun, interactive conversations in Spanish. Throughout the summer, they will be immersed in the Latino culture (I have also lived in Spain) through games, song, dance and literature. And they’ll go back to school at the end of summer with a better understanding of the world around them. My rate is $15-$20/hr, my weekly schedule is flexible (30-40 hours per week) and I am willing to consider a nanny-share arrangement.

Please email me, Tai, with information about your situation (taibainter@gmail.com). I look forward to hearing about your family.
