Hello! We’re looking for a part-time nanny!
We need care for my 18-month-old daughter, Iris, a few days a week, and also my 4-year-old daughter, Clara, after preschool and on Thursdays. Both love walks to the park or just playing out in the yard. Iris, the toddler, takes long naps (2.5 – 4 hours) and goes down very easily. Clara likes dramatic play and art projects. Both love music and dancing.
This will be in my North Portland home, close to a few coffee shops and a park, with easy access to I-5. We’re looking for Monday – Thursday, at least three ¾ days. Most days can start as late as 9:30 AM, though we’ll need Thursdays to start at 8:30 AM. Most days are over at 4 PM, rarely later. In short, I have flexibility in my schedule so it’s an open conversation. I will be working at home for some of the time, though there may be times when I will be out of the house at meetings or at an office downtown. There will not be any driving required, unless you want to take them on an adventure.
We are looking for someone who has experience with toddlers and preschoolers, is familiar with the concepts of attachment parenting (but is not dogmatic about it, since we aren't), is creative and calming, and views themselves as a professional, even if they don't have formal childcare training. We also ask for help with folding laundry. Not doing the wash, just folding clean laundry if it’s there. We also would like this person to tidy up after the kids finish meals and at the end of the day. We’re somewhat flexible on salary. Right now we’re paying our current nanny $10 per hour. (Sadly, her studies and family are taking her back East and then to California.)
We’re most concerned with good fit as we’d like a long-term relationship of at least 12 months. If this sounds like a situation that would work for you please give us a call! It’s best to call us as we’re not always in front of the computer. You can reach me, Katherine, at home at 503.286.0657 or on my cell at 503.891.7165.
I hope to hear from you soon!
