Nanny/Doula Available

Hello!

I am a birth/postpartum doula and childcare provider seeking part- or full-time positions. I've been providing compassionate childcare now for nearly 4 years and have been a doula for 2 years! I also worked as a pre-natal massage therapist for a year at Zenana Spa and in my own practice. I am a member of the Independent Doula Collective and Nursing Mother's Council. I have experience caring for people of all ages in a variety of capacities and have recently been caring for children ages newborn to 10 years old. It is important for me to find families with whom my values can align so that I can be optimally consistent and supportive.  My approach is attachment oriented, intuitive, and relaxed.  I support things like healthy diet, imaginative play, NVC, baby-wearing, breastfeeding, and co-sleeping. Please call Jeane at 503.318.6957 or email gumpjm@yahoo.com for more info!  Thanks!

Here's a recommendation from the mama I'm currently working for:

A quick note about my fabulous nanny!

My name is Averil and I have a 15 month old boy named Sam. Jeane has been his nanny since he was 5 weeks old. Jeane is wonderful with Sam. She is caring, gentle, patient, intelligent and creative. She is always coming up with new ways to keep him engaged and stimulated. I have been extremely fortunate to have such a compassionate and intuitive person caring for my child. When I leave my house I am fully confident that Sam is safe and happy- this is priceless- and I know Sam feels the same way about her as he always has a huge grin on his face when he sees her walking up our driveway!  I wish I could keep Jeane full time, but our needs have changed. I
would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Need a babysitter or nanny?

I'm 20 years old, I am currently working as an au pair in Germany for an 8-year old girl, but I'm coming back to Portland on November 9 and looking for babysitting jobs, or possibly a job as a live-out nanny for the right family. I have experience with a wide range of ages-- I've babysat babies, toddlers, little kids, big kids, and I have fun with all of them.  I will engage your kids in fun activities, not just sit them down in front of the TV.  I will be living in SE, but I'm perfectly willing to come to wherever in Portland I'm needed.   My name is Maeve and my email address is amaeve at gmail dot com.

wonderful art based preschool has opening

hello,
i just wanted to let all you good folks know that meadowlark preschool has a tuesday-friday 9-1 opening. possibly aftercare, you'll have to ask. the location is between sandy & glisan on ne 28th. 503-235-0733.

i'm posting this (unsolicited) because our daughter went to meadowlark for 2 years and we were so happy with every aspect.

alison, the teacher & owner, is amazing with the preschool set. she has a delightful way about her that comes across in her communication and everything the children do while at her lovely little school. art projects, adventures, songs, stories, baking, games, birthday celebrations to name a few. the school is on the main floor of her house and is friggin' adorable. there are even hens and bunnies out back. she has a maximum of only 6 kids per day. and as if all that isn't sweet enough - it's actually affordable by comparison.

ttfn,
tuesday's mama

M,T,W care needed for 22 month old in N.Portland

My daughter's great in-home daycare is closing at the end of November and I'm hoping to find a similar situation.  Ideally you'd be close to Kenton, not have too many kids in your care and be creative, reliable, fun and motivated to do all kinds of activities including trips out of the house.  If that sounds like what you're offering please be in touch.  You can e-mail me at rbog329@hotmail.com.  Thanks very much.

nanny or babysitter available!

Hi!  I just graduated college and moved to Portland and I'm currently waiting to get certified to teach in the state of Oregon.  In the mean time, I would love the chance to work with your kids, either as a full time nanny or an occasional babysitter.  I have worked in 2 daycares for a total of almost 4 years and have taken some classes in early childhood education.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Anyone interested in swapping childcare?

Hi,

I live in the Camas/Washougal (Washington) area, and I was wondering if anyone that lives close by might  be interested in swapping childcare with me?  I am a Postpartum Doula and would love to go back to work part-time.   If there is another Mama out there who wants to work but can't afford childcare costs, please let me know -  it would be great to be able to help one another out.

Thanks!!

NE Mom available for childcare

Hi!  Are you looking for a babysitter?  Before school?  After school?  During the day?  I may be able to help.  I am the mom of 2 boys (ages 3 and 5), and I would love to help you figure out your childcare dilemmas.  Right now my oldest son is in school 8:30-3 (except Mon and Wed, when he stays until 4:30 for science club).  My younger son goes to his playgroup Mon and Fri from 9-1.  I would obviously have my children with me when they are not at school, but they are very friendly, outgoing kids who are always looking for a new playmate.  We spend a ton of time walking around the NE (to and from school, on "nature walks," going to Alberta Park, etc.), and we usually spend about 30 mins at the school playground when I pick up my 5 year old.  The boys are also fond of arts/crafts and puzzles.  I would prefer to babysit in my home (smoke-free/pet-free), but I am flexible if you live in the NE (I do have to pick up my son from school everyday, and would not like to be way out in Clackamas or something like that).  I am also available on the weekends.  If this sounds like a good match for you, please email me at katematlock@hotmail.com.  Thanks!

When was the last time you went on a date???

My stepdaughter is available to babysit for for "date nights" or weekend days.  She has a couple families she sits for now, but would like to find a few more.  She is 14, almost 15, attends MLC and is Red Cross certified.  She is comfortable traveling to the home by bus, but would need a ride back if she is needed late into the night.  We live in North Portland (Overlook neighborhood, near Addias campus/New Seasons).  She is most comfortable with children who are potty trained, but has sat for those as young as 6 mos (her half brother).  Since we're connecting via the internet, we'll ask that we meet you first to make sure it's a safe situation for her and the fit is a good one.  She has been making $5-6 an hour.

Her contact info is below:

Siobhan, pronounced Sha von

Thanks,
Nicole

Seeking to join a Nanny Share, ideally NE

Greetings ! I have an 11 month old son and am seeking to find a nanny share situation - ideally in another family's house - Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from about 8 or 8:30 to about 4:30 or 5. I will be working from home those days (which is why I would prefer my son be out of our house.) We were previously in a share situation in the SF Bay area and loved it. We can join an existing situation or find another family and interview nannies together.

Many Thanks - Susan. My email is : soodle_99@yahoo.com, phone 503 - 477 - 8208.

Seeking Care for 11mo, Inner N/NE

I am looking for childcare for my almost 11 month old son.  I will be going back to work for the first time since his birth and need to find quality care that is affordable.  I would prefer the childcare to be near my work which is near Legacy Emanuel Hospital.  I practice attachment parenting and am looking for likeminded caregivers.  Any ideas or referrals - I would greatly appreciate them.  carlynicolemoore@yahoo.com

Salary range for In home Nanny

My Sister in Law is moving from Minnesota in January to come and nanny for my son and my best friends son. Both of our Childern will be 4 months old. She will be living with us, and be watching the boys at my friends house, which we will take her to every morning. What is the typical hourly or weekly rate for an in home nanny watching two young babies?

Before school or Afterschool care needed

I have a 5 year old son going to King Elementary and am struggling finding good before school or after school care.  Originally I had a neighbor staying at our home in the morning and walking him the 7 blocks to school.  This is no longer an option.  I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for finding someone who could help with this.  If morning help doesn't work out, I may be interested in finding someone to help with pick-up from school and staying with him for a few hours in the afternoon.  We live in NE PDX.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Seeking Occasional Babysitter, NW, 9mo

We live in NW Portland and are looking for an occasional nanny/babysitter to help us out one or two afternoons a week for our 9 month old. Currently my sister watches her when needed but she is also
looking for a full time job so it would be nice to have someone else to fall back on. Hourly rate is negotiable. Please email jennifer.rana@gmail.com with any suggestions!!

Need a daycare or preschool option

Hello!  My husband and I have just moved to Portland with our 21 month old daughter.  I would like to enroll her in either preschool (if she's not too young?) or daycare.  Most likely, this will only be part time, but if affordable it could be full-time.  I am flexible about days and hours.  We live in SE - close to Hawthorne and 20th.  If there is anything nearby it would be ideal, but we are open to commuting!

Thank you,

Sarah

Drop-off child care besides Grandma's Place?

Hi All -

While Grandma's Place near Lloyd Center seems decent enough, the one closer to the Broadway bridge made me a little uncomfortable...but my twin babies are under 24 months and they're the only one that takes kids under 24 months.  Is there ANY other drop-off child care center that is:

- in inner Portland (as opposed to the one I read is out near Washington Square)
- takes children under 24 months
- is good??!

My childcare needs are often random and there simply are times I don't want to put out a friend or family member or just can't find one available regardless (I have twins or I wouldn't have such issues about "putting out" people!).  Thanks very much!

Looking for child care ASAP.

We are in need of reliable and consistent in home care (Clinton St area of SE) or another safe and hypoallergenic space for our son Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8-2. Our preference is someone with experience that has a gentle and respectful approach with children.

Nanny share, in-home, or daycare setting would all be acceptable.

For in home, willingness to do light housekeeping or cooking during nap time is ideal. Pay DOE.

We would like to start right away as husband is starting back to work in a week and the person who we had already started transition with just bailed at the last minute.

Bilingual English/Spanish would be fabulous.

Looking for a couple 2 year olds for NE Nanny Share

Hi there, we are a group of NE families that have a nanny share/co-op thing going for our 2 year olds, we are looking for a couple more families that might be interested in joing our group on Thursday mornings. The group runs from 8:30am to 12:30pm and it's $20 a day.  With our wonderful Nanny, our goal is to create a fun group so our toddlers can interact with each other and learn through play .   This is also a great way for parents to get a much needed break and time to run errands without the little ones.  If this sounds like something you would be interested in please email. Thanks so much

Seeking a nanny share or mom with kid in NE

I'm looking for help one or 2 afternoons a week from 3 to 6pm. My girls (age 1 at almost 5) would love a nanny or mom to bring over a kid (boy or girl, any age really) to play with them. Specifically, we need someone who can walk or drive (1/2 mile) my kindergartener home from Alameda Elementary at 3:00, then stay until 6 to do typical mom work: Empty the backpack, wash the lunch box, feed the kids a snack and later a simple dinner, tidy up the kids' spaces, put away the girls' clean laundry, change the baby and/or help her on the potty as needed, and give the kids just enough guidance and assistance to allow them to play happily together. My girls already have no trouble finding things to do and playing together, so they don't need a fancy nanny equipped with craft kits and museum passes, but rather someone who can let them do their thing, and help them clean up afterwards. I will usually be home during this time, working.

I most need help Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday afternoons. Please email jenny at openmindspreschool dot com if you can help!

Nanny Share SE

We are looking in to the possibility of a Nanny Share for our 8 mo. old son staring mid November or December.  We are looking for FT care (@7:30-5:30) 5 days a week.

We live in the Sunnyside neighborhood in SE (between Laurelhurst and Mt. Tabor) and ideally looking for a family that lives close by so we can minimize commuting.  I'm open to hosting at my house or splitting time betwen families.  We don't have a nanny already (we had a temp one this summer but she is back to teaching) so would be open to another family with a nanny who wanted to share or someone who wanted to start the process together.

Please send me an e-mail if you are interested and we can chat more about the details: katie_mills@yahoo.com.

Nanny share available in NE

Hello- We have a wonderful nanny that we'd love to share in N/NE (close in off Ainsworth). Our daughter is 3.5 and we are looking for another close in age for sharing any and all days (both kids at our home or occasionally yours). The schedule changes quarterly as both the nanny and I are in school, but we generally have 24-30 hours per week. You could bring your child one day a week or more. If you are flexible and interested in meeting us and the nanny, please reply! Thanks, Sarah: mcsarahb@yahoo.com

Seeking PT Childcare for 20 mo, NE

Contact email: mktalbott@comcast.net

I am looking for part-time daycare for my 20-month old daughter. My son goes to AHS and I would like to find something in the same area (where we live). Grandma’s Place (which, in any case, did not sound so great based on their website) does not accept children younger that 24 months. I do not wish to send her to a one-person in-home daycare. My experiences have been with the YMCA and KinderCare, some good, some bad (for our older child).

Please let me know if you know of something in the area. Any help would be amazing.

Help!  I am an artist mama who needs my studio time!!!  I had a wonderful gal taking care of my son on two mornings a week and we were all so happy but she's moved on to graduate school and I need to do my art.  We live in downtown Hillsboro.  Would you like to play, read books and snack with an imaginative, talkative, physically active 2 1/2 year old while I work in our home?  Pay is negotiable.  4-6 hours a week, weekday mornings plus additional hours if you are available in the evening or on weekends for my husband and I to go eat sushi.  Look forward to meeting you!  E-mail nz@scout-family.org
