Oregon Tradeswomen, Inc. and National Association of Women in Construction present the Building Girls and MAGIC Day Camps, a free construction camp for girls.
Overview: Building Girls summer construction camp exposes young women in middle and high school to the use of hand and power tools, basic carpentry, math and measurement skills, construction, and the variety and excitement of careers for women in the highway and construction trades. Girls learn and have fun through skill-building games, hands-on lessons and activities, and activity-filled field trips to apprenticeship training centers. With instruction, guidance and support from female tradeswomen, girls can tap their unexplored interests and gain experience with basic construction skills in such fields as carpentry, painting and plumbing.
