From field to fork, Zenger Farm teaches kids ages 6 – 12 about seasonal farming cycles, farm-fresh cooking and land stewardship with two unique hands-on summer camps. Farm campers explore Zenger’s wetlands and fields, and harvest their snacks straight from the vegetable fields they will help tend. Cooking campers join local chefs to harvest produce and learn the art of cooking with farm fresh ingredients. New this year, Zenger is offering a Counselor in Training Program for 10 through 12 graders who have a passion for environmental education and are interested in leading Zenger’s summer camps. The program provides training in the art of outdoor education, gardening and farming practices, and nature awareness skills. Zenger Farm is an urban farm located in Southeast Portland with four acres of vegetable crops, a brood of over 50 chickens, Red Wiggler worms, eight honey bee hives a 10 acre wetland and a beautiful children’s garden.
