Wildwood Nature School in NW Portland introduces new Art Classes for Fall 2012!

Creating art helps young children develop imagination, creativity, and self-esteem as well as early math skills, such as, spatial awareness, pattern, and symmetry.  At Wildwood Nature School, the focus is on the process of making art — learning about color, line, and shape and experiencing different media — rather than on acheiving a pre-determined “ideal” result.

We offer two classes, each tailored to a particular age group.  The classes are drop-off, although parents are welcome to stay if they like.:

Tuesdays 10:00 am – 11:00 am, ages 2-4

Session 1 (October 2 – 30) Art Exploration — Children will explore a variety of media and processes for creating art.

Session 2 (November 6 – December 11, no class Thanksgiving Week) Sticky Fingers — Art created with glue and other adhesives.

Tuesdays 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm, ages 4-6

Session 1 (October 2 – 30) Natural Arts — Children will use items collected on nature walks to paint, print, collage, and create.

Session 2 (November 6 – December 11, no class Thanksgiving Week) Homemade Cards and Gifts — Children will create artwork perfect for giving to family and friends.

All camps are $180 for the week.

Deer Fern is a 7-week long summer day camp located at the Portland Village School in North Portland. The camp’s mission is to instill a sense of community within our campers, to provide children with a variety of opportunities to be creative, and to have a lot of fun.  We spend our mornings working on art projects, and our afternoons are typically spent playing: splashing in the water feature at Kenton Park, playing 4 square, having water fights, building with Legos, etc.  

At grandma's place Clark Family Center we're excited to keep your school aged kids entertained and busy all summer long! We feature exciting field trips, volunteer opportunities, organic gardening and creative, constructive fun in our centrally located, media-free center!

Plus, there's no need to commit to a month or even a week, your kindergarten through age 12 child can join us for a day, a week, a month or an entire summer of fun.

 Join Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre on stage! Make puppets, balance on balls, learn to juggle, and take home your own hand-made mask. Each camp session ends with a fun performance on the Winningstad stage for friends and family.

The Village Theatre Summer Camp

For ages 10-15

Join us for an adventure into the imaginary and absurd! Our days will be full of exciting theatre games, on the spot improvisation, arts and crafts, field trips to local shows, outdoor play, set design, costume making, and last but not least, collaboration to create an original performance!

When: Monday-Friday 9am-2pm

About the Teacher: Leeza has studied physical theatre, improvisation, Theatre of the Oppressed and Commedia Dell'Arte with notable teachers such as The San Francisco Mime Troupe, Michael Rohd and James Donlon. She spent the last year developing a theatre ensemble at the Village Free School and they had such a good time that they asked her to continue into the summer! Leeza has been developing and teaching art/theatre camps and classes in Washington, California and Portland for over five years.

Our 10 week day camp for kids going into Kindergarten through 8th grade begins June 20th and ends August 26th.  Kids Community provides kids with  a fun and unique summer camp experience at an affordable cost to families. Weekly sessions include:

Walk the Plank, Curtain Call, Chain Reaction, Do It Yourself, Hood to Coast, Run Away With the Circus, Enter the Quest, On your mark Get set  Go!, Earth Wind & Fire, Epic Adventure
