On Saturday, November 10th the Stand for Children Leadership Center will hold its 3rd annual Statewide Conference at Tualitin High School. If you're interested in working to improve Oregon's schools and learning the tricks of the activism trade (and how!), this day-long conference could be just the ticket to get you informed, inspired and connected.
The Stand for Children Leadership Center "exists because children in communities across America have no power to influence our democratic system to meet their fundamental needs. The center helps ordinary people become effective citizen leaders who use our democratic process to improve the lives of children by training leaders to do three critical things: 1) Recruit people with similar values, 2) Identify effective, achievable solutions to problems facing their community’s children, and 3) Educate decision makers and voters to achieve these solutions."
Sounds like a terrific way to hone your leadership skills in this important area, mamas. Workshops cover topics like: School funding 101, Class sizes & school facilities, Whatever happened to PE?, and Creating a grassroots voice for children. And there's free on-site child care, to boot. Regster by October 20 for a discount ($15 before 10/20; $25 after). Sounds like a very worthwhile investment if you aim to be an effective citizen activist. Wanna connect with other Activistas to carpool? Coordinate in the comments section.
Could this be a more perfect fit for an Activista???

Did anyone attend this event? If so, might you be willing to report back here in the comments section - anything really excellent you learned that other Activistas might find interesting/useful? Thanks!
